Nobu Restaurant Manila: Birthday Dinner at Nobu's Floating Cabanas (City of Dreams Parañaque Metro Manila)
Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines
The family has been eyeing on dining at Nobu Restaurant Manila's Floating Cabanas for some time now.
Because of the pricey consumable of 10,000 php, we had to save it for a special occassion.
Quite noticeable that more diners prefer the floating cabanas too.
So it requires advance reservation and almost always fully booked on weekends.
Though the indoor ambiance is pretty good too, it's not as unique as the floating cabanas.
The service was a bit slow. The first to arrive after a long wait is the Nobu Pacific Rim Platter. The quality of the seafood is good but the slice and sushi rice falls short considering the high price point.
Sushi/Maki
Salmon Avocado Cut Roll (490 php)
We had the same disappointment with the Salmon Avocado Cut Roll too. Just look at the form...
Nobu Dishes Hot
♥ Rock Shrimp Tempura with Butter Ponzu (1,200 php)
The Rock Shrimp Tempura with Butter Ponzu is a popular choice among Nobu diners as we've seen from other reviews. We have to agree! This is pretty good.
Tobanyaki
Another good option that's filling for beef lovers is the Australian Grass Fed Beef Tenderloin Tobanyaki.
♥ Australian Grass Fed Beef Tenderloin Tobanyaki (2,800 php)
Another good option that's filling for beef lovers is the Australian Grass Fed Beef Tenderloin Tobanyaki.
Mixed Seafood Tobanyaki (1,720 php)
If you prefer seafood then its Mixed Seafood Tobanyaki for you.
Nobu Yakimono
Free Range Chicken with Antichucho Sauce (1,080 php)
The Free Range Chicken with Antichucho Sauce is quite dry. Better skip this.
US Prime Tenderloin with Wasabi Pepper Sauce (2,800 php)
The US Prime Tenderloin with Wasabi Pepper Sauce is also just passable.
Complimentary Birthday Cake
Though the service was terrible that even a glass of water took so long with many follow-ups, we were glad that they gave Complimentary Birthday Cake.
We've definitely tried better hotel dishes elsewhere. The dishes were really expensive that our total bill including drinks was almost double the minimum consumable amount. The service was also the worst we've experienced from any hotel restaurant. Yet, for such stunning one-of-a-kind Nobu Restaurant Manila Floating Cabana experience, we'd happily dine there again.

It was a rainy night but it still didn't stop the family from celebration my uncle's birthday. We were invited to celebrate it at Lucky Star 88 Seafood Restaurant in Aseana China Town.
Lucky Star 88 is huge but it was barely occupied when we dined. That didn't discourage us. Besides, I really like the name. It reminded me of my favorite Taiwan Drama "My Lucky Star" and also favorite comedy Anime" Lucky Star".
Food
Assorted Combination Cold Cuts (900 php)
I must have had cold cuts more than a thousand times. But, this Assorted Combination Cold Cuts stood out because it had crispy wanton and a salad to go with it. The cold cuts were also delicious.
I have no idea what this soup was but it was good!
Pork Knuckles
This Pork Knuckles was just okay.
Fried Noodles with Assorted Meat (480 php)
Poor Fried Noodles with Assorted Meat, it seems in every lauriat dinner it is always the least favourite.
♥ Braised Lamb in Hot Pot (1,280 php)
It is the first time we had Braised Lamb in Hot Pot. It was spicy and soft so I enjoyed it. I liked
that it also had tofu skin which is my favorite but rarely get to eat.
♥ Fried Pigeon
Since we were little, we always look forward to having the Fried Pigeon. I recall those days we even love eating the brains in its. As we grew up, we realized it had too much cholesterol so we don't have them as much.
This vegetable, I don't know the name in English. I only know the Chinese name. My mom always seems to be very happy whenever she buys this from the market saying its a special day so I guess I grew to love it.
♥ Live Shrimp
The fresh seafood here is expensive. But to be fair, the Live Shrimp is really good.
This is another first. The dessert is Glass Jelly with slices of pineapple and melon.
Fresh Fruits
Our elders doesn't seem to feel that our bill at Lucky Star 88 was justified. But, I enjoyed the new dishes but they are not as enthusiastic. Having an interest in psychology, I do acknowledge that it is scientifically proved that people prefer familiarity in everything though and food is no exception.

I'm not really a fan girl type. But when I uploaded a post about Aldub on my Youtube channel which gained over 500,000 views and almost 100 comments, I have to acknowledge the power of fandom. In fact, my close friend in law school happens to be a huge Alden fan. And, it was through her that I discovered about Concha's Garden Cafe.
Look Alden welcomes you to dine at Concha's Garden Cafe.
Aside from a good view of Alden, Cliffhouse Tagayatay offers a good view of the Taal Lake.
During our visit on a weekend lunch time, it was packed with families, group of friends and couples.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Not sure if it was just the Cliffhouse branch but for now Concha's Garden Cafe has failed to meet my least expectations so I probably wouldn't try it again. Well, that is subject to change of course... like if Alden in person is there by the entrance. =D But kidding aside, the food could still be improved. The service isn't so good either.
