We've tried Caffe Dolce before for their drinks. When we came back, we found out that they now have a Dessert Buffet for only 299 php.
The Dessert Buffet is available from Monday to Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm.
But upon trying the cakes, I was disappointed.
Even the mousse was too sweet for me.
Aside from cakes, they also have some finger foods.
I've always loved cool sweet treats so I was happy to see that they have Ice Cream...
and Halo-Halo.
There are also Nachos, Pasta and Mini Pizza.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Between the Ala Carte and the Dessert Buffet, we definitely enjoyed the former better. But, if you're looking for a budget eat all you can for quantity and not quality, the Dessert Buffet could satisfy you. Perhaps because this is our first Dessert Buffet, we still don't fully appreciate the concept.

Looking at their chiller, I was so enticed by their colorful cakes.
I guess our first experience also heightened my expectations.

Empanada |
I found it quite comforting to have a refuge of savory ones when you're overwhelmed by sweet treats.
They also have our local kakanin.

Whenever my relatives celebrate birthdays, more often than not, we are bound to try a buffet place. This time they invited us to try Food Club.
Food Club is located at Blue Bay Walk. The family likes it there because there's a lot of parking space.
I don't think you'll ever need reservations at Food Club. I think they have more space than it can ever be occupied.
Food
Cooked Food
In terms of buffet choices, they have a lot! There are many cooked dishes of international cuisine. They also have dedicated stations for other food types.
Bread Station
I bet you can't try all their selection in one seating.
Salad Station
They have healthy options...
Appetizer Station
as well as not so healthy options such as Cold Cuts and Cheese.
Kiddie Station
There's also a kiddie station with kid friendly choices like Hotdog on a Stick and Marbles Potatoes.
Sushi and Sashimi Station
We were happy that they have Salmon Sashimi. But as you can see, it is not so fresh.
Miso Ramen Station
There's a Miso Ramen Station. I like that it is served in small miso bowls so it isn't very heavy.
Grilling Station
There's also a Grilling Station with marinated meats, skewers and fresh seafood.
Fried Station
Forget about the other fried items, everyone kept coming back for the Shrimp Tempura. Well, it was nothing special. But, it runs out fast and they refill it quick too.
Carving Station
For the price, I must say this item is a steal or perhaps... you get what you pay for.
Chinese Station
To our elderly Tsinoys delight, the most expansive cuisine at Food Club is Chinese Cuisine. They even offer 2-way Duck which I indulged on.
Dimsum Station
In fairness to them, they are the only buffet I've been to that offers Xiao Long Bao as one of their special dishes. But, it is the saddest one I've tried. Can you tell just by the looks?
There are more dimsum choices... all of which could use some improvement.
Pasta
Hot Pot Station
If there's one item that we would love Food Club for, it would be their Garlic Crabs! Look at the size! My aunt would be happy just eating this alone.
Dessert Station
There are lots of cakes. Nothing really stood out for me.
Because the cakes didn't suit to our liking, we decided to go for the healthier option - Fruits.
Drinks
They have lots of drink selections. I highly suggest their Fresh Fruit Shakes.
And, end your meal with their Coffee.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Food Club doesn't offer selections that will leave a lasting impression. But for the price, you get Roast Beef, Crabs, Xiao Long Bao, Tempura, Coffee and Fresh Fruit Shakes, that's tough to beat.
Tip: They offer discounts if you're an alumni of DLSU and UST because they say that the owner is an alumini.

The family has been looking forward to trying out Kushikatsu Daruma. We've tried kushikatsus from local Japanese restaurants and we're epicurious how those hold in comparison with Kushikatsu Daruma that originates from Osaka Japan.
Kushikatsu Daruma's interiors really stand out even from the outside.
Perhaps this branch is even more extravagant than the one in Osaka.
The staffs are very attentive and eager to suggest what to order.
Everywhere you'd find a reminder of "No Double Dipping". But, I doubt that everyone understands that.
My little sister confessed she didn't get it until we told her. ;D
Food
Kushikatsu
It's the cooking frying technique and quality of the basic ingredients. I was surprised to discover that Kushikatsu Daruma's chefs all trained in Japan just to master the craft.
We had so much fun and kept on ordering for more sticks. The quality
After seeing our bill, we realized we should be more keen on our budget. And, again remember not to double dip!
So what did we like about their kushikatsu?
1. Variety
2. Consistent quality
3. Delicious sauce
What did we not like?
1. It's difficult to keep track of our expenses as we kept on ordering for more sticks. And, some of the sticks were really expensive.
2. We couldn't get comfortable with the one dipping container for all.
3. It was a bit oily.
4. Quality isn't the best I've tried. For the beef roll, I actually liked the one in Shabu-Shabu Ichiban more.
Small Plate
The Karaage has what I'm looking for. The skin is crunchy and the meat is tender and juicy.
Rice Bowls
Aside from their Kushikatsu, their rice bowls are good too.
I'd definitely order the Gyudon w/ Egg again.
If you're looking for something sweeter, there's the Chicken Teriyaki.
Tip: You can now avail of Kushikatsu Daruma lunch meals for more savings. For only 265 php, you get your Rice Bowl, Daruma Iced Tea, Miso Soup and a scoop of ice cream.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
No doubt that the Kushikatsu Daruma offers an authentic Osakan experience for kushikatsu. We also enjoyed the Rice Bowls which were all served piping hot.

So what sets Kushikatsu Daruma's Kushikatsu's from the rest?
Kushikatsu |
Pork Kurobuta (179 php), Camember Cheese Kushikatsu (59 php), Scallop Kushikatsu (59 php) |
It's really difficult to figure out which is which among our orders. But, we do remember our favorites: Pork Kurobuta, Camember Cheese Kushikatsu and Scallop Kushikatsu.
