There's just something about the cool Baguio climate that makes you hungrier than usual.  Thus, an eat-all-you-can buffet may be the ideal affordable choice.  And, if you're looking for a sulit (bang-for-the-buck) buffet in Baguio City, let me introduce to you Kalapaw Restaurant.


Kalapaw Restaurant is a bit challenging to find because it is not found along the main roads of Baguio City.  Instead, it is found in the a narrow Martinez Street on Engineer's Hill, right behind the Victory Bus Station and the Microtel Hotel.

 And, you see this sign right here is your only clue to guide you.

According to this, it is Baguio's Top 10 Most Outstanding Restaurant.

The atmosphere is very simple.  There are no air-conditioners and to be honest, it smelled like a a carinderia.

Ilocano Buffet
They had a lot of food selections.  For 300 pesos, it's a real steal.  My only concern is the evident presence of buzzing flies and the uncovered food warmers that was a big drawback in my dining experience.  It makes me prefer the posh ambiance of O' Mai Khan perhaps.  But, such hygiene matters could have easily been addressed had they used the covers which were only stored underneath.



The food is pretty good.  I appreciate that they really ensured that the food is warm. 


This section is the special addition for weekends.  During weekdays, the rate is only 199 php but without this Ilocano favorites.  Bagnet all you can makes it quite tempting.


Pako Salad, Ilocano Empanada and Calamares anyone?


They even have Sinanglao.

Overall, Kalapaw Restaurant is worth it.  It's selling point is the price and food quality.  Hope they just have their dishes covered that's all.  They also have ala carte and group meals.  I heard they are also famous for their Boodle Fight.  I'm think this is also the same with the Taste of Laoag in the food court stall which I encountered in SM North Edsa SM Food Court.

When thinking about a glorifying burger joint to meet your long-time burger craving, Zark's Burger is the place to be!


Zark's in Taft now has more street-side visibility compared to its former place at the second floor of Archer's Nook.

Starting from the minor league, I had a Blue Cheese Burger.  This is my all-time favorite.

Way back, I tried the Jawbreaker.  And because my tummy has grown over the years, I now have to upgrade to the Tombstone Burger.

Really, when you have a burger craving like mine, such craving can be met by no other than the Tombstone Burger.  Take a look at this two pound cheeseburger beauty: four juicy and greasy burger patties stacked and accentuated by the creamy cheese sauce.

♥ Mushroom Dawg (85 php)

and the Mushroom Dawg.  I have to admit, I haven't explored the non-burger selections at Zark's.  But based on my companions feedback, looks like they were pretty good too.

If you're looking for a place for burger indulgence, Zark's Burger is your destination for such gratification.  Of course, my word is not something new as this joint has a always amassed great popularity.  In fact, it has multiple branches now to satisfy your cravings anytime anywhere.

I guess we were fed up from all the holiday indulgence that we opted for a sustainable and organic concept for shobe's birthday.  Thus, we made our reservation at The Wholesome Table in Bonifacio Global City.


The place was full.  Good thing our table was waiting for us.  Otherwise, we'd be seating al fresco on a warm night.


Floor space was limited there's not much of a walk way.  It didn't feel cramp though because of the decor.  It even had a tree inside.

This area looks cozy with pillows to boot.

Complimentary Bread Basket

While waiting for our orders, we started our feast with their  Complimentary Bread Basket.

 

♥ Kale Caesar (320 php)

We ordered the Kale Caesar.  We loved kale and the name is a witty.  It had  kale, romaine, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, aged parmigiano-reggiano and their special blend of creamy caesar dressing. 

Wood-Fired Pizzas

♥ The Mediterranean (590 php)

The Mediterranean is a wood-fired pizza topped with roasted eggplant, olives, capers, fresh oregano, parmigiano-reggiano and pecorino romano.  This is the first time to try the roasted eggplant as a topping and we thought it was awesome!

Pastas

♥ Vegetarian Baked Bolognese (490 php)

The Vegetarian Baked Bolognese is a great twist for the classic bolognese.  It has crispy tofu and bechamel and parmesan sauce.

Main Course 

♥ Chicken Marsala (750 php)

My little sister is one of the pickiest eater I know.  We were so happy that we loved the Chicken Marsala.

Grass Fed Beef Tenderloin (850 php)

The Grass Fed Beef Tenderloin is also good but it's a little tough.

♥ Brown Rice Risotto (150 php)

The Brown Rice Risotto was light mushroom flavor that it didn't overpower the viands.

Shobe's Complimentary Cupcake

They sang and gave shobe a complimentary chocolate cupcake.

I know some people like my brother don't believe in the organic concept.  Well, for me if the food quality is good and the price is reasonable like The Wholesome Table then why not right?  You're happy and you at least have a shot in helping the eco-system.  The service is superb too.
