Last Saturday, I got to witness a Jamba Juice's flavorful expansion as it opens its third branch in Southeast Asia at Philippine's largest mall, SM Mall of Asia.
After the ribbon-cutting and the blessing, everyone was eager to try out their fresh blended smoothies.
I watched as orders were being prepared through the glass windows along the Jamba Juice booth. Jamba Juice makes use of the highest quality of fruits from different countries which inlcudes our local bananas.
It was so cool to watch the scoops of ice cream and ice as they were tossed into the air. The staffs were very excited and happy to serve their first batch of customers.
After enjoying my drink, my friend Yanie invited me to support Jamba Juice's Gimme' 5 for Guimaras Campaign. We rode for five minutes with ease and we were even given their campaign bag tag as a token. I would've wanted to bike more to donate more mango trees but believe me many were as eager as we were to support the cause.
I love the concept of this fruitful cause. Customers who ride their Blender Bike for five minutes will get to donate one mango seedling which will be planted in the Guimaras Mango Park. This campaign was first introduced in their flagship store in BHS-Central through their partnership with the Bureau of Plant Industry-Guimaras National Mango Research and Development Center (BPI-GNMRDC). During the last visit of James D. White, President and CEO of Jamba Juice, he embraced the campaign as a meaningful way of raising awareness of local sustainability initiatives. It is their hope that our local Guimaras Mangoes will one day play a larger role in their menu.

Shokuji is one hidden gem in Makati for traditional Japanese Cuisine. Located in the middle of buildings along San Augustin Street in Makati and its rustic facade, it is easy to miss. But, I hope you do stop over and try it out because it is rare to find delectible traditional Japanese dishes that Shokuji has been serving for more than 16 years.
Shokuji has a simple interior with white linen covered long tables and wooden cushioned chairs. The floors are simple white-tiled that you'd commonly find in a house. The place is enclosed in its plain white walls with a few light lamps except for the glass windows that allows diners to see their parking lot.

Beverages
Green Mango Shake (95 php) |
The Green Mango Shake is really tangy as it is only lightly sweetened. I find it strong on the puree side rather than milkiness.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Shokuji serves traditional Japanese cuisine like no other. Although I usually find quality Japanese fare a bit pricey, Shokuji's pricing is really affordable. They offer individual meals that are suitable for students and employees and also set meals and platters that are great for group gatherings and occasions. I would definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes when I have the chance.

Its been an annual tradition for us Tsinoy Foodies together with family and friends to visit Mafbex (Manila Food and Beverage Expo), the one of the biggest food exposition in Manila.
My mom considers visiting exposition as an educational exposure for us so we've attended all sorts of them. But, Mafbex is something we always look forward to.
While the exposition is taking place, there is also a barista tournament. The place was crowded by audiences cheering for their favorite barista.
Our main purpose for visiting food expo is really to find business opportunities. There are so many franchisors as well as equipment and goods suppliers participating in the fair. But, there are also so many products that foodies like us could not resist. They were bargained at a good price too.
By the end of our rounds, we were quite preoccupied in carrying these our heavy Mafbex eco-bags filled with our purchases. It's a good thing they give out Mafbex eco-bags. It was really handy. Note: Complimentary tickets were not entitled to them.
On the way out, we couldn't help by fall in awe with this beautiful table set up. I can't help but fall into wishful thinking hihi.
There was also a cooking show but wish also had also gathered a large audience.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Mafbex 2012 was a successful expo as expected. We'll visit again next year for sure. The entrance fee of 100 php was quite reasonable with all the stuff you can buy and the food tastings you can try. Plus, the eco-bag is also a bonus.
Offering a new wave of restaurants and high-end shops is the new Bonifacio High Street Central. My fellow foodies say that one of the best options to dine at there is 'Cue Modern Barbecue so naturally, I just had to try it out.

The Beef Belly was served in a hot skillet pan. It was dark ale-braised and then cooked until slightly charred. It is mustard crusted with grilled onions on the side. This is pretty good too.
♥ Roasted Chicken Half with Crisp Onion Strings (405 php) |
With or without the sauce, the golden salted-crusted Roasted Chicken won me over! Upon slicing it, it was over flowing with juicy goodness that it almost slips of the chopping board. It is one of the most savory and succulent roasted chicken I've ever encountered. I highly recommend this. We chose to have it with Crisp Onion Strings which is an great match.

The Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake is two big scoops of vanilla ice cream atop a muffin-sized chocolate chip cookie cake. Although I'm not a chocolate chip cookie fan, I enjoyed the warm crunchy and crumb-y cookie cake. This is just the perfect sweet ending for any meal.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
'Cue Modern Barbecue is the perfect hangout when craving for good food especially "meat" with a cozy ambiance to boot. Located at a the heart of the fast growing Bonifacio Global City, no wonder it has gained much attention from workers, residents and shoppers alike. I can't wait to visit again once they release "coming soon!" items.

Once upon a time, frozen yogurts were raved by all. Well, I'm sure now we can't deny that the tide has settled. But, we cannot deny that frozen yogurts are pleasing to eat especially when coming from the minutes of walking under the scorching heat of the sun. One of our favorite yogurt places is Red Mango SM Megamall (after the SM Mall of Asia branch closed down).
Red Mango SM Megamall is brightly lit with lounges and modernistic chairs.
Undeniably, Red Mango offers the most assortment of frozen yogurt toppings.

The Lucky Chinatown Mall is the new hang out place for tsinoys because it has tons of stores, a new cinema theater and enticing dining places. Among the most occupied restaurants in it is Uncle Cheffy Brick-Oven Global Cuisine.
Uncle Cheffy and its sister company Kuse shares one kitchen and the two are only divided by a wine bar. Regardless of whether you dine at Uncle Cheffy or Kuse, you can order any item from both of their menu.
The ambiance feels homey with the classic window pane, paintings on the wall and sturdy wooden tables.
