I Say No to Nobu Grill Bar's Eat All You Can Lunch Buffet! (Closed)

After shopping at The Off Price Store (TOPS) at Bluewave Strip Mall, we decided to eat at Nobu Grill Bar for a lunch buffet priced at a tempting net price 349 php.  Although the place was small given the buffet table was occupying most of the area, it was very crowded when we came in.

Glancing at the buffet selection, I thought at the price it was not bad.  You can choose the ingredients for the shabu-shabu (hot pot).  There were also cooked food options.

Seasoning and Condiments for the Maki and Shabu-Shabu

Maki

Although just two kinds, they had maki too.  The quality of the maki is mediocre.  They made use of local rice and it didn't have much taste.

Korean Side Dishes

They had a lot of Korean side dishes which didn't look appetizing so I didn't bother to taste any except for the Kimchi.  The Kimchi was nothing special too.

Siomai

Nobu's Siomai is by far the worst Siomai I have ever tasted.  I don't even think its made of meat.  It feels and taste weird.  Even the flour-enhanced siomai that can be bought cheaply in the streets are better than this!

Main Dishes

Chap Chae 

The Chap Chae is pretty good.  It was complete in ingredients and the sweetness was just right.

♥ Fish Head

Their dishes were either bland or tad too sweet.  The only dish that was delicious and edible was the Fish Head. 


Shabu-Shabu

Disappointed with the cooked dishes, we tried to satisfy ourselves with their shabu-shabu instead.  We placed a lot of ingredients but to our dismay, their shabu-shabu had no broth or flavoring at all.  It was just plain hot water!  To compensate, we placed a lot of condiments such as chili powder and garlic so it would be a bit always felt lacking.  Moreover, all the fish balls, squid balls and the triangle fish things in a stick had a weird flour-like taste.  

All the fresh seafood were so small.  I tried eating as many of those pea-sized clams and mussels but couldn't even taste it.

The buffet price includes the tea which was okay though a bit bland.

The price of Nobu Grill Bar's buffet is really tempting at 349 php.  But even for that price, it is not worth it!  This is the worst buffet we've ever tried.  The shabu-shabu doesn't even deserve to be called shabu-shabu.  Although they offered adequate selection of food, there is no food quality at all.  We didn't even bother to stuff ourselves and came home a bit hungry.  Despite eating so few, we all had diarrhea after eating at this place.
