Café Ilang-Ilang at Manila Hotel Buffet Dinner (Manila, Metro Manila)
1 Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila, 0913 Metro Manila, Philippines
After a decade since my last buffet dinner at Café Ilang-Ilang so it's was time for a long overdue revisit!
Bread Station
Café Ilang-Ilang's Bread Station has offers delicious baked breads selections which includes Black Sesame Rolls, Hard Rolls, White Sesame Rolls, Wallnut Rolls, Laugen, Rye Roll, Sour Rolls, Rye Bread, Original Six Grains, High Fiber Bread and French Bread.
Charcuterie Station
There's also a Charcuterie Station featuring a Cheeseboard (with Gruyère, Emmental, Manchego, Blue Cheese and Brie Wheel), olives, dried fruits, and honey.
Cold Salad Station
Cold Salads include Coleslaw, Shrimp Salad, Macaroni Salad, Kani Salad and Mangang Hilaw with Bagoong. There are also Cold Meats like Beef Pastrami, Chicken and Pork Terrine.
There are also some cocktail-style appetizers like the Melon Lassi, and Shrimp Mango Salad.
Admittedly, the Fresh Salad Station isn't my favorite in the past. Now, its my first stop in every buffet so having so much variety of fresh greens and sauces is much appreciated!
Seafood Station
The Seafood Station offers Butter Garlic Prawn, Butter Garlic Crab and ♥ Cheese Baked Mussels.
Churrasco Station
Café Ilang-Ilang has a different dinner theme per night. Since it was Surf and Turf Night, we were fortunate to have the ♥Blue Marlin available at the Churrasco Station. There's also heavy meats like Smoked Pork Loin, Churrasco Beef and Sausages.
Korean Station
The Korean Station ranged from main dishes like Spicy Mud Crab and Korean Grilled Lamb, a soup — Beef Radish Soup, and side dishes like Pajeon, Fried Zucchini, Fried Tofu, Kimcheon, Dried Squid, Fishcake, Kongnamul (soy bean sprout), Spinach and Kimchi.
Chinese Station
The Chinese Station highlights Chinese Dimsum of Pork and Shrimp Siomai, Choco Bun, Chicken Feet, and my favorite — ♥ Century Egg. There's also Chinese Corn Soup.
Japanese Station
Sushi Station |
The Japanese Station is the biggest food station. Check out the Sushi Station with Vegetarian Maki, Cheese Tamago, Spicy Kani Maki, Salmon Cream Cheese, California Maki and the must try ♥ Aburi.
There's also fresh Tuna Sashimi, Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Kani Salad and Tamago.
For the mains, there's Vegetable Tempura, ♥ Shrimp Tempura, Yasai Itame, ♥ Miso Cream Chicken, Salmon Teriyaki. And, to complete your Japanese meal experience, pair them with the Miso Soup and Japanese Fried Rice.
Italian Station
Among the popular stations is the Italian Station because of the specialty pasta dishes such as ♥ Gnocchi with Truffle Sauce and ♥ Pasta Al Forno. There's also an inviting display of Mixed Cold Cuts, Bruschetta with Basil and Tomato, Panini, Sacciata Sandwich, Salad Caprese, Foccacia Bread, Parmesan Cheese Wheel. I also loved the ♥ Leeks Potato Soup.
The pizzas are freshly oven-baked. Highly recommend the ♥ Spinach Pizza and ♥ Mushroom Pizza!
European and Mediterranean Station
Like other stations, there's a soup — Swiss Barley Soup, mains — Honey Garlic Prawns, ♥ Shepherd Pie, side dishes —Butter Vegetables, Marble Potato, and staple — Brown Rice.
For every Filipino feast, there's the Lechon.
♥ US Angus Beef |
With the longest line, the US Angus Beef with your choice of sauce mustard, horse radish or mint is what you can't miss!
♥ Foie Gras on Brioche |
Best to save space for dessert because there's many to consider. The spread includes a Cathedral Gelatin, Pistachio Sanrival, Carrot Cake, Mochi Buttercream, Ube Cake and Red Velvet. Then, there's the Artisanal Ice Cream Station and Crepe Station. So happy that there are gourmet ice cream flavors like Pistachio, Matcha, ♥ Durian and ♥ Black Sesame.
On the side shelves, there's Fruit Tarts, Mixed Berries Pavlova and Kakanin. The Bibingka and Puto Bumbong are no longer part of the buffet though.
Instead, there's Assorted Chinese Cookies, Assorted Cookies, Assorted Fruits, Chocolate Truffle, Marshmallow and Chocolate Fountain.
Drink Station
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
The Drink Station can be found by the entrance and beside the Halo-halo Station. Drinks include Detox Water, Cranberry Juice, Orange Juice and Apple Juice.
The drinks above go well with your meal. To complement your dessert, enjoy a cup of coffee—choose from Brewed Coffee, Cafe Americano, Decaf Coffee, Cafe Latte, Cappucino and Espresso.
Café Ilang-Ilang has long been a distinguished destination for premium international buffet. With its comprehensive buffet selections, you're sure to leave feeling satisfied.

Yakumi Sunday Brunch at Solaire Resort: Double Birthday Celebration (Parañaque Metro Manila)
Entertainment City, 1 Aseana Ave, Parañaque, 1701 Metro Manila, Philippines
The family has been planning to try the Yakumi Sunday Brunch for quite some time. I myself have not been back to Yakumi in Solaire Resort since 2015, so I'm quite thrilled with the idea.
Yakumi Fresh Japanese Sashimi Cart |
Where else can you find a fresh Japanese sashimi cart like this? Yakumi takes pride in sourcing the finest and freshest seafood ingredients from the biggest fish market in the world - Toyosu Fish Market (è±Šæ´²å¸‚å ´) in Tokyo, Japan.
You can have as much sashimi as you want. As you can see, it is evident from the Octopus Sashimi, Salmon Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi and Japanese Spanish Mackarel Sashimi that they are jet fresh as Yakumi flies its ingredients as often as twice a week. Thus, they can even provide genuine grated Wasabi which is rarely offered by Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines.
Nigiri Station
Among the 8 food stations, the Nigiri Station is our first stop. There are so many variants of Nigiri Sushi and Makimono or rolls to choose from.
Salmon Oshizushi Pressed Sushi |
The Salmon Oshizushi is a traditional style of pressed sushi that originated in the Kansai region.
The Aburi Sushi consists of thinly sliced flame-torched salmon that melts in the mouth.
Yakumi Nigiri Sushi and Makimono Plate |
Makimono rolls include Volcano Roll, California Maki, Takuwan Roll, Kappa Roll, Ebi Tempura Roll and more.
Its noteworthy to mention that Yakumi also has a Sushi Happy House (1,150+ php) every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM with a more limited menu. But, its quite reasonable because the quality is the same for a much lesser price!
Meat Teppanyaki Station and Oysters Station
Yakumi Meat and Oyster Station |
For meat lovers, Yakumi also serves USDA Beef Steaks, Pork Loin Steak and Chicken Steak. We also ordered the Buttered Oysters but they failed to make a memorable impression.
Seafood Teppanyaki Station
Yakumi Seafood Teppanyaki Station |
As aforementioned, the seafood is really the pride of Yakumi so the Seafood Teppanyaki Station is also quite extensive.
Yakumi Seafood Teppanyaki Plate |
Everything we tried: Blue Marlin, Spanish Marackrel with Onion Soy, Red Snapper Papillote, Squid Lemon Butter Soy, Scallop, and Sake Steamed Mussels were delicious!
Udon |
We also found the Udon to be wonderfully comforting.
Chawanmushi |
This version of the Chawanmushi is also quite special. It has mushrooms, shrimps, mackarale and even Hokkaido scallops.
Robotayaki Station
Offerings from the Robotayaki Station are Chicken Wing with Sweet Soy, Chicken Live with Sweet Soy, Chicken Gizzard with Salt, Sancho Tuna Steak, and Spanish Mackarel, and more.
Yakumi Robotayaki Plate |
As you can see, the serving portions are huge so better order for sharing.
Salads
In addition to the food stations, there is a complimentary Tofu Avocado Salad and you can also order from the menu.
The Yakumi Sunday Brunch is also popular for its complimentary Dessert Bento Box. Each table is served only one wooden Dessert Bento Box regardless of the number of diners. Each grid contains a different kind of dessert. It also comes with Black Sesame, Matcha and Corn Ice Cream, Cake Pops, and Fresh Fruits. You can request for additional scoops of their delicious ice cream.
The kids can enjoy themselves at the Candy Bar.
Both of my sisters received a Complimentary Birthday Cake.
Drinks
Japanese Whisky
Japanese Whisky Bar |
You can order your preferred Japanese Whisky such as Iwai Traditional Blended, Iwai Whisky Cocktails, Shimamoto Sour, and Mars.
♥ Iwai Whisky Cocktail: Pineapple Smash |
Based on our experience, the Iwai Whisky Cocktails blend depends on the barista. This first glass we had so good. We instantly distinguished it from our next batch made by another barista.
The Yakumi Sunday Brunch at Solaire Resort is definitely the best Japanese brunch buffet we've ever had. The seafood freshness and quality of the seafood really stands out above the rest. The service is great too! Considering the price-point though, we might have to try other buffets we haven't tried yet before coming back here again.

With all prices hiking up, people are continuously in search for the best meal offers. Well, we Tsinoy Foodies, recently discovered Holy Cow! Sizzler's Meat All You Can for 399 php.
And, we're going to give you our Top 7 Reasons to Go For the Meat All You Can for 399 php.
1. No Lines
Holy Cow Sizzlers has two spacious branches that offers the meat all you can for 399 php. Both of them are so spacious, they can even cater to parties and functions.
We prefer the one in Ayala Trinoma Mall because we find its mall location to be quite convenient.
2. Ready to Eat
Although there is a time limit of 2 hours, all the dishes that you order are served fast (within 5 to 10 minutes), cooked, ready to eat in a hot sizzling plate. Yes, in essence this adopts a sit down and "order all you can" concept which is rarely offered.
Chinito (chicken na prinito?) |
How great is that? You save time from 1) lining up and 2) cooking that you can
spend all that time for eating. In fact, we were able to eat here during our
work lunch break.
Chicken Fillet |
Although the dishes here are served hot on a sizzling plate, it does not involve cooking the food on the table so its smokeless. Thus, you won;t have smoke sticking into your clothing. You can eat here on a lunch break and not worry about taking the smell of smokiness back to your office. You can take clients here for meeting too.
Beef |
4. 5 Premium Meats
Aside
from the full service experience, they also offer an expansive
selection with many types of premium meat (with sauces!) and side
dishes.
Pork Belly |
There are 5 types of premium meat dishes:
1.) Beef
2.) Pork Belly
3.) Chicken Fillet
4.) Chicken Chinitos
5.) Fish Fingers
Fish Fillet |
Fish Fillet |
Don't we love to eat our rice dishes with sauces? Holy Cow knows this so well that it offers 5
signature sauces:
1.) White Sauce (for the Fish Fillet)
2.) Soy Garlic (for the the Pork Belly)
3.) Spicy Barbecue (for the Beef, Pork Belly or Chicken Fillet)
4.) Peppercorn Gravy (for the Beef, Pork Belly or Chicken Fillet)
5.) Trio Mushroom Gravy (for the Beef, Pork Belly or Chicken Fillet)
Garlic Rice |
1.) Garlic Rice
You can simultaneously order any premium meats and side dishes that you want. I'm sure those who cannot eat a meal without rice will order the Garlic Rice first.
Mashed Potato (the signature sauce works for the side dishes too) |
Who could resist Mashed Potatoes?
Macaroni Salad |
French Fries |
The French Fries were thick cut and mushy just the way we wanted it.
Mojos |
If you want potato in crisp and crunchy form then the Mojos is for you.
Sweet Potato |
The Sweet Potato is an addictive choice for those with sweet tooth.
Cheese Croquettes |
If we were to order just one side dish, hands down it would be the Cheese Croquettes. This is our first time to have this item for eat all you can. In fact, croquettes are usually offered in a Spanish restaurant for an expensive price. Take Terry Bistro's cheese croquetas for example, an order of 6 pcs. is already 480 php (as of the time we wrote this).
Corn & Carrots |
Coleslaw |
Buttered Vegetables |
7. 399 PHP All Inclusive Price
You get everything presented in the Meat All You Can Menu for an all inclusive price of 399 php. The published rate is clear and simple unlike others who will present the lowest price only to find out that you have to add more for more options.
Unlimited Iced Tea (70 php) |
With those 7 reasons to try Holy Cow! Sizzlers' Meat All You Can for 399 php, we, Tsinoy Foodies, guarantee that you will feel that you get your moneys worth for it!
