I'm an avid fan of Bacolod chicken inasal. Whenever I am alone and on a budget, it is always my comfort food. To be honest, I've been wanting to eat at Aida's Chicken since I've read about it from famous blogs. But, it was difficult for me to coincidentally be around Makati Cinema Square area.
I haven't been to Makati Cinema Square since I was watched a movie "The Indian in the Cupboard" with relatives a very long time ago. As I was writing this, I'm surprised that I can still remember bits of the movie and my movie experience. I recall, it was my aunt who treated us. We've never heard of it before so I'm glad that I discovered it. I liked the movie although it was a more serious and dramatic than the cartoon "Toy Story".
Apart from the facade, I didn't feel any nostalgia from the place. It was really run down. I had to ask the guard where Aidas is located because it was not visible at all. All along I kept on wondering why it chose to be located there in the first place. You have to pass by cellphone and random stalls before reaching the restaurant. To my surprise, there were foreigner and family guests dining there.
That heightened my expectations despite the fairly unappealing ambience.
Food
Executive Meals w/ Rice & Soup
Inasal Pecho Executive Meal (175 php) |
So here it is - Inasal Pecho. If you choose the executive meal it comes with broth soup, side dish and rice. Prior to digging in, I could already tell from the aroma and visual appeal - yellowing color, glaze and char-marks that it was going to be delicious.
Inasal Pecho (120 php) |
Aida's Ilonggo Express (195 php) |
The Aida's Ilonggo Express is similar to what I know as gising-gising. Perhaps, I'm biased to coconut milk based dishes so I gladly indulged this to the last bit. However, I think the price is unjustified.
I loved Aidas Chicken Inasal but I realized that chicken inasal is something I eat whenever convenient so I don't see myself going out my way to dine here again.

Kina Imus Lomi House: My Scuba Dive Master's Sisig Lomi Treat (San Luis Batangas)
Batangas, Philippines
It is experiences like this that make me believe in true friendships and truly generous acts and deeds. Before heading back to Manila after my first ever scuba diving class at Bus Stop Dive Resort, my scuba dive master Dale Robin Mendoza brought us to Kina Imus Lomi House for dinner.
Despite having an inflammation in his wrist, Master Dale was so hospitable in fetching us from Manila to Batangas (vice versa), providing us food and accommodation, guiding me on my first scuba diving exploration and treating us here. Because he has a big heart, I am confident that I can trust him and his crew with my life under water. If you need a dive instructor in Batangas (this is his number 09338594803.
About My First Scuba Diving Experience at Bus Stop Dive Resort
- Scuba Diving Experience: At first, I struggled with breathing in a relax way. Then, I remembered how I breath in yoga just focusing on one inhale and exhale at a time. The next thing I know, I felt so relaxed as I saw the beautiful sea creatures moving at the same rhythm as my breathe. That helped me developed a secret to enjoy the irregularity of my breath whenever I do cardio - I imagine that moment under the sea.
- Scuba Diving Community: Where ever you come from, what your profession is, everyone treats each other with respect and camaraderie. I met a group of young French students who are taking a break before continuing college and I also met fellow lawyers who enjoy free diving for the adrenaline rush. Dive Instructors Master Dale and Estan are very friendly and inspiring.
Going back to Kina Imus, the place looks like a house made to function as a lomi house.
They adopt a pay as you order system where many would line up.
Food
Combo Lomi (65 php) |
The Combo Lomi is a bowlful of lomi topped with chicharon (pork rind), egg, pork liver, kk chips, fried siomai, lumpia and sisig.
Extreme Lomi (75 php) |
You'll need an extra plate to eat your lomi since the toppings are overflowing. I wonder if its because of my gratefulness for my master's generosity, the great company, my hunger or the true taste of the lomi but it felt really good that night. I feel warmth in my heart and belly.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
I will definitely go back to Kina Imus Lomi House whenever I am in the area. Next time, I'll skip the crackers and opt for the Sisig Lomi instead.

Oh My Samgyup:Gamsahamnida for Returning My Wallet (Quezon City)
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
For years, I've been struggling to develop self-discipline and time management so I could prepare my own healthy meals for lunch. Since I spend around 4 hours per day on travelling to work, I have found it convenient most of the time to have a lunch out instead. With lots of good eats in Quezon City like Oh My Samgyup, it's not such a bad idea.
During my third time, I was in such a rush to go back to the office, I didn't notice that I dropped my wallet. To my amazement, they even went to the extent of messaging me in Facebook before I could realise that I dropped it. Because of their honestly and initiative, I added a star on service!
Food
Side Special
Stew
Unlimited Samgyupsal
This is their best-seller! Good to try but difficult to finish because of the strong aroma. Being a minimalist, I still prefer the plain beef slices so I could devour more.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Oh My Samgyup offers awesome Korean food! I hope it gains more popularity. No bias here although I would also like to tell them wholeheartedly "Gamshamnida" for returning my wallet. =)
Actually, I've visited this three time in total.

Aside from that, I also appreciate their consideration when I told them to rush my orders because I am on a lunch break.
Food
Complimentary Ban Chan |
They offer at least three Complimentary Ban Chan.
Side Special
♥ Geran Mari (180 php) |
The Geran Mari is a great comfort food. I enjoyed this egg and vegetable dish while waiting for my other orders.
♥ Kimbap (170 php) |
One of my favorite Korean dishes to order is the Kimbap. Thumbs up for this!
Stew
♥ Galbitang (300 php) |
I'm having a problem warming up lately, so I found the Galbitang to be really soothing.
♥ kimchi jjigae (300 php) |
When craving for spicy, I highly recommend their kimchi jjigae. Even before I heard of eating spicy as a stress relief, I already enjoyed eating spicy. Lately, I found there is a scientific basis that eating spicy releases a hormone called "seratonin" making us feel happy. So yes, you could really say that this is my happiness bowl!
Rice
♥ Kimchi Bokkeumbap (200 php) |
For staple, I couldn't help but order their Kimchi Bokkeumbap over and over. I'd consider the spiciness to be mild given my spiciness tolerance built over the years. But, I liked their slightly sweet and comforting blend with tons of crunchy veggies.
Unlimited Samgyupsal
Some restaurant requires a minimum number of persons before you can avail of their grilled dishes or unlimited promo. But, that's not the case with Oh My Samgyup. Call me a glutton but I'm proud to share that I availed of their Unlimited Pork and Beef for only 499 php alone.
Previously, I've always associated dining as a social or group activity. Thus, the name of the blog in plural if you've noticed. But lately, I've discovered the pleasure of eating slowly in solitude as well. My mind used to wonder off when I take walks. But, day dreaming while eating good food is good too.
Oh My Samgyup has lots of marinade to choose from.

You'd think Chinese dinners after Chinese dinners, I be tired of it by now. Yet, could you believe becuase of diners like Asian Taste Seafood Restaurant and family bonding, I would say it is a unique memory I'd treasure.
Asian Taste Seafood Restaurant is one of the many restaurants located at the newly opened Seascape Village in CCP Complex beside Sofitel Manila.
Set up and interiors screams "typical Chinese Lauriat Restaurant".
But is it?
Food
To be honest, on most days, I'm on a happy-go-lucky jolly foodie mode. But, my family would know that I have this zoned out moments. On this dinner, I was pretty much in that mood especially since the service was terrible and the food way to long before they even served the food.
Then, food began to be served and I had a sip of their nido soup and everything that follows.
Everything was so good that we had wiped out the noodle dish for the very first time.
♥ Steamed Suahe |
Seascape Village must definitely be a place for seafood because the crab is also so good.
While I prefer my fish to be steamed, this fried fish is so well-cooked that the tenderness was not wasted at all.
We may have over ordered noodles. But, the generous amount of bamboo shells was well-appreciated.
I don't know who ordered this but with guilt comes goodness right?
♥ Mango Sago |
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Asian Taste Seafood Restaurant offered superb Chinese food for an affordable price.. The only drawback is the slow service. Being a newly opened restaurant, we have high hopes that they could still work on it.
