Pancake House: Presenting All Our Classic Favorites From Their Menu Selection (Robinson's Place)
Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
When I was young, I was like any other kid, I loved the pinoy-style spaghetti. There were only two places we'd frequently dine for it and that is Yum Yum Tree Coffee Shop and Pancake House. I'd We frequented Pancake House more because it had more branches and it survived while Yum Yum Tree Coffee Shop closed down.
Pancake House used to have a really retro interior with orange and pink booths and huge movie posters of the latest movies and newspaper designed wallpaper. Being big movie fans, my siblings and I, would always have fun counting the new movie posters that has been placed up since our last visit and quiz each other of their plots. Dining there for gazillion of times, I can still vividly remember the place.
Over the years, Pancake House has toned down its interiors into a more common and casual look. But, the food is still the same. So let's get on with the food...
Food
In this post, I'll present all our classic favorites. We've been ordering the same thing since forever!
Mom's Pancakes & Waffles: Pancakes
Pancake House' pancakes are still the best in my book! (Other than my mom's of course). It's moist, soft and fluffy. We always order the Classic because we love their buttermilk.
Omeletts
The Mushroom Omelettes is the first omelettes I've ever tried in my life. It's still the best for me. (Again, other than my mom's!) What I love about it is the perfect combination of the mushroom and cheese.
Patio Pasta
The Crispy Bacon on Asparagus and Mushroom Tagliette is one of my latest discoveries at Pancake House. It is topped with shitake mushrooms, asparagus, capers and bacon.
The Spaghetti with Meat Sauce is hands down the best pinoy-style spaghetti for me. (Again, other than my mom's =p) I just love the bold meaty flavor with the right blend of sweetness. I also like the the really buttery and garlicky tasted garlic bread that comes with it.
Hale and Hearty Mains: Main Course
I also love their Classic Pan Fried Chicken. It has a perfect crunchy skin and juicy meat. What makes it different from the rest is that the oil is not evident.
Special Sets
I sometimes crave for their Best Taco in Town too. In that case, I order the House Special Set which has the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Best Taco in Town, Classic Pan Fried Chicken and garlic bread.
My brother is loves their Roast Beef Special served with casaer salad and iced tea.
On some days, I also order their ♥ Club House and ♥ Vanilla Milk Shake. Their Vanilla Milk Shake is the first milkshake I've ever tried. It used to be my mom and I's dining tradition to order and share one. As I grew up, I became conscious about sugar and calories so I skip it once in awhile then order it again whenever I miss it. =p
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Pancake House will always hold a special place in my foodie heart. I'm glad I can always go back and revive old memories in every visit. I'm very pleased with their consistency and I certainly hope they keep it that way.

Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken: Chicken at Budget Price in Magiting Teacher's Village (Food Panda Maginhawa Food Crawl)
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
Our third stop for our Food Panda Maginhawa Food Crawl is Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken.
It is located in Magiting St. at Teacher's Village which is actually beside the closed down Chilli and Ink I've shared before. I love the graffiti art on the wall. It actually reminded me of the documentary I watched about graffitis called "Exit Through The Gift Shop". That film change the way I view paintings on the walls from just random vandals to appreciating street art. I don't know how it is in the Philippines though but in other countries, they have a street art scene and street artists are know by their code names and like all artists, it takes them years to develop their art style that will distinguish their fame. Well, anyway let's head back to Homies.
Homies is a no fuzz, I just want my food king of place. It has two pairs of wooden tables with wooden benches and three pairs of white wooden tables with wooden stools for its dining area.
It also has a counter where you're supposed to order and pay. On the right side is their menu chalk board.
This is so cute! If the Japanese have the Matryoshka doll, they have this.
Each table has a pail for the napkins and...
a rubber chicken that makes a weird loud cuckoo sound when you squeeze it. Pressing actually means you want more of their unlimited rice.
Food
Homies Chicken
Pinoy fried chicken is actually one of my favorite comfort food. I could finish a whole of it all to myself. How happy I am that the Whole Homies Chicken is so hearty as it is so crispy and juicy. Given the amazing price, I'd prefer this over Max's anytime.
Homies Meals
The Chilli Con Carne is the winning meal for me. It's right blend of spiciness gives a festive flair to the other components: parsley, cheese, ground beef and beans.
The Chicken Curry was tad too salty for me. In fact, this is the first time I've encountered a Filipino curry dish that had a saltiness that overpowered the curry flavor.
The Pork Menudo is another dish worthy of coming back for. Doesn't it look so appealing? Well, it tastes as good as it looks.
The Chicken Teriyaki is another dish with a saltiness way beyond what I can tolerate.
Merienda
The Meatball Spaghetti is prepared pinoy spaghetti style distinguished by its sweet blend. The pasta is cooked al dente and the sauce is comforting enough. The meatballs were just okay.
The Chilli Hotdog is one of my favorite snack foods when I was little. I'd often ask our cook or my brother to prepare some for me. My liking for this dish was influenced by one my favorite cartoon and video game character: Sonic the Hedgehog. He loves his chili dog so much that every episode, he'd go and reward himself a chili dog. This Chilli Hotdog is pretty good. But, it would have been better if the hotdog was more meaty.
Extras
For a very affordable price, you can add Juice to your meal.

One Saturday, I was dragged by my friends to hang out and chill at Wham! Burgers.
It has a simple but cozy modern vibe so we enjoyed our light jokes and chit chats over our burgers.
Food
Burgers
The Bronco is western style 1/3 all beef patty, american cheese, bacon strips and fresh onion slices topped with barbecue sauce. For those who enjoy barbecue or flavorful sauces, this is for you.
My all-time favorite at Wham! is the Kapow. It's a burger with 1/3 pound all beef patty with chili sauce, freshly made salsa, american cheese slice and jalapeno peppers. I like the zing and zest combo brought about by the salsa and jalapeno peppers.
The Brekkie is the ideal breakfast meal on-the-go. It's a burger with 1/3 pound all beef patty with bacon strips, fried egg and cheese. A bite of this simply reminds me of the familiar warm and homey feeling I have as I enjoy my breakfast in the morning.
New Burgers
The Whammer is their newest burger. It's an all beef patty topped with bacon, cheese and deep-fried onion strings.
It's currently sold at 25% of so take the chance to try it at a cheaper price.
The Sliders Trio is ideal for group sharing. My friends and I shared over this!
The set includes a Bacon Burger, a Cheese Burger and the classic Wham Burger.
Sidings
The Pepper Poppers is my favorite! It is a nugget filled with cheese and spicy jalapenos peppers.
Secret Menu
My friends introduced me to the Spaghetti Fries which is not on the menu but you can order. It's kind of an innovative Filipino take on nachos and cheese. If you love Filipino spaghetti, you'll like this.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Wham! Burgers is always a great place to hang out over burgers. They make use of all beef patties that will always satisfy your beefy craving regardless of which kind of burger you choose. It's also cool that they introduce new variants so you have something new to try.
