It's been awhile since I paid Osaka Ohsho a revisit. How timely that I was invited try their 9 new cross-cultural menu.
Let me start with my favorite Truffle Gyoza. The balance between the pork flavor and truffle oil is perfect.
For those who prefer a bolder and stronger flavor, the Chori Gyoza is for you.
The Nori Nachos is an addictive starter. Its wonderfully crisp without any hint of greasiness.
The Chicken Enoyaki is an upgraded version of the usual Chicken Teriyaki.
The Matcha Butter Tonkatsu is a peculiar twist even for an adventurous foodie like me. I felt that the matcha butter wasn't spread evenly so it I could hardly taste it.
The Salmon Cheese Aburi is my favorite among the new menu.
As opposed to the Gyoza Tantanmien which I didn't find striking enough.
Another must try is the Japanese Paella because of its rich, flavorful and creamy rice topped with my favorite Japanese seafood selections.
Last but not the least is the Black Pepper Gyudon. Instead of the usual sweet Gyudon, this has gone on the peppery side.

Ever since I got to try the pioneer branch of Osaka Ohsho at SM Megamall Fashion Hall, I've already envisioned it opening another branch. Years gone by and finally, Osaka Ohsho opens its second branch at SM North Edsa The Block. And opening at the same time also by Relic Group is Cafe Kumori.
The invite is very simple and it didn't leave any details except for the time and place. So I bet the guests were all pleasantly surprised with the Japanese Picnic Party Theme.
The table setting is lovely!
Shobe got so enthusiastic with their coloring activity. She managed to finish the Osaka Ohsho coloring card using the watercolor pencils and brushing it with water after. While the Kumori Coloring Page was half done until now because she found it too difficult.
Osaka Ohsho
The event was graced by the owners Linfred Yap, Weiser Co and celebrities such as Tim Yap who is also Linfred's cousin.
The interior is a bit different from the pioneer branch. I think this one maximized the space better.
Osaka Ohsho's menu keeps on expanding. I've featured some of the items I've tried here, here and here.
And, I just found out there are more items to try like their Kimchi Gyoza.
Cafe Kumori
Just like in other countries which have the Cafe Kumogi, we now a Cafe Kumori.
This is Kumori's first stand-alone bakery.
The glass shelves display their wide pastry collection.
Some of them are apparently non-consumable.
I think this is the only section for self-service?
The cakes which are chilled are by the counter.
Because it is a cafe, diners can seat in while enjoying their drink and pastry offerings.
These are most of Kumori's products. Having tried only a few as I've shared here and here, I have to admit I was more excited for this than Osaka Ohsho.
These are the ones we got to try. Among these, the Hanjuku Cheese is still the best for me. The rest had a noticeably sweeter blend.
For drinks, the Matcha Milkshake and Choco Hazelnut Milkshake was served. They were very fab see? The Matcha Milkshake was very light. I can't help but compare it to Osaka Ohsho's Matcha Milk Smoothie which I love. Many had falled in love with the very sweet Choco Hazelnut Milkshake. The guests beside us told us that the Japanese Sweet Corn Milkshake is the best among the three milkshake offerings. They ordered for us but they never came. And, I'll use that as a reason to come back and try more of their products so watch up for more updates! Till next time!

Osaka Ohsho's Launches All New Teppanyaki Festival (SM Mega Fashion Hall)
Mandaluyong, 1550 Metro Manila, Philippines
This is my nth visit at Osaka Ohsho because there's always something new to try in addition to their famous gyoza. (see my previous visits here and here) Osaka Ohsho has recently launched there teppanyaki festival offerings.
Teppanyaki Festival
The Mixed Shellfish Teppanyaki offers the treasures of the sea: ocean fresh scallops, mussels and clams seasoned with garlic and Japanese sake then sauteed in a Japanese onion sauce served with sauteed mixed vegetables. This is so good that I couldn't stop tossing more of it unto my mouth.
Fish lovers will surely be delighted with the Sakana Matsuri (Fish Festival) Teppanyaki composed of Norweigan pink salmon, Pacific Blue Marlin and Yellow Fin Tuna steaks in butter, garlic and Japanese Sake. For staple and veggies, it has thin slices of asparagus, potatoes and carrots on the center.
Get the best of the land and sea with the Salmon Bacon Teppanyaki (310 php). A serving has 5 pieces of fresh Norweigan pink salmon wrapped in premium honey cured belly bacon strips glazed with Japanese teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with diced spring onions.
The Bacon Cut Pork Belly Aparagus Teppanyaki is another winning option with its crunchy asparagus spears wrapped in savory sweet sukiyaki and teriyaki sliced pork belly strips covered in sesame seeds and spring onions.
Carnivores have the Sake Beef Teppanyaki to satisfy their meaty cravings. It is sauteed sukiyaki sliced beef in Japanese sake, garlic and butter with a side of Japanese Coleslaw.
The bold tasting Mixed Mushroom & Bacon Teppanyaki is a must try. Don't forget to dip this tantlizing roll of shitake, shimeji brown and eringi Japanese mushrooms, asparagus spears in honey-cured belly bacon strips in their original tangy Japanese Urinchi Sauce.
The Prawn Teppanyaki (495 php) in butter and garlic is amazingly good when dipped in their Japanese Wasabi Mayo dip. I so love the Wasabi Mayo dip that I'd recommend having the other dishes with it.
The Ika Sugataki is soft sliced mildly spiced squid rings served with stir fried vegetables. I found this quite addictive so yes, I finished this to the very last bit.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
I'm glad that Osaka Ohsho added these to their menu. I'd gladly have them again especially the Mixed Shellfish Teppanyaki together with the Original Gyoza and the dessert Peanut Butter and Banana Gyoza.

Osaka Ohsho: Bacon and Cheese Gyoza, Dessert Gyoza and More! (SM Mega Fashion Hall)
Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines
Osaka Osho also known as the "King of Gyoza" has been the first to introduce Japanese Gyoza in various flavors. And, its no surprise that it has recently innovated new variants that has tinkered the curiosity of many especially its loyal diners and gyoza enthusiasts.
Food
Gyoza
If
you liked the Cheese Gyoza, the Bacon and Cheese is the mega upgrade
version for the same price too.
We all loved the combination of the
chewy savory bacon and creamy salty cheddar cheese.
Appetizers & Salad
Our visit also brought us to explore more of Osaka Osho's dishes. Yes, although specializing in gyoza, they have a wide range of Japanese dishes.
The Osaka Osho Salad is a mix of iceberg and romaine lettuce topped with crab sticks, cherry tomatoes, candied walnuts, mangoes in sweet citrus miso dressing.
Stir Fry
I've tried the Black Vinegar Chicken and just have to it once again!
Yakimono Grilled
For a good source of healthy omega-3 that is the secret to long life of Osaka locals, we ordered the Saba Shio Yaki (Roasted Mackerel). It was grilled to perfection with clean sea richness that is made even better by eating it with a squeeze of lemon and grated radish. It also has a wonderful soft and juicy texture.
Rice & Noodles
The Yakisoba is a flavorful staple or meal in itself with shrimp, beansprouts, mouse ear mushrooms and bonito flakes.
To
have something hot and comfortably sweet soup, we ordered the Beef Sukiyaki. It was served in a big bowlful of beef slices, glass noodles,
onion, carrots and greens.
New Fuwatoro Tenshin-Han
The
Ebi Tempura Fuwatoro Tenshin-Han is a 3 pc. ebi Tempura and vegetables dish laid on a
soft silky fluffy egg mount filled with sesame seasoned Japanese rice.
It also comes with thick sweet and rice sauce.
The Curry Cheese Tonkatsu Tenshin Han is also pork katsu with cheddar cheese filling laid on the same egg and rice but comes with spice-filled creamy sauce with carrot and potato cubes.
Look at the cheddar cheese oozing out of the katsu...
Dessert Gyoza
My family is a huge fan of Jif crunchy peanut butter. In fact, since we were kids, I don't think it was ever lacking from our cupboard. So when I heard that Osaka Ohsho has just concocted Peanut Butter and Banana Gyoza as a dessert gyoza. I really wanted to try it out that this dessert alone is worthy of my visit. And, it turned out to be better than I could even imagined. It was so comfortably good. The gyoza was warm with gooey and squished banana slices and nutty peanut butter with peanut bits and then paired with a cool scoop vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. If you find it difficult to imagine, think of it as a bite-size crepe with gyoza skin.
Drinks
If you're looking for a refreshing but simple drink, there's the Fresh Lemonade. The
Matcha Milk Smoothie has improved since my last visit. The Fresh Mango Yakult is another great choice.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
So glad to be back at Osaka Ohsho for its Bacon and Cheese Gyoza, Peanut Butter and Banana Gyoza which is a whole new dessert experience for me and other Japanese dishes. Food is reasonably priced as serving size is good for sharing.
