Yoree Korean Barbecue Dining: Authentic Korean Charcoal Grill (Forum South Global BGC)
Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines
Revisiting Forum South Global after quite some time, I'm surprised that Seven on 7th Bistro Modern has been replaced by Yoree Korean Barbecue Dining.
I didn't know what to expect. Judging from the outside, it seems high-end.
As I went in, my assertions were correct. It was a grand spacious Korean restaurant indeed. Even Sariwon is no match in terms of size and seating capacity.
I love the interiors as even the floor has eccentric details.
It has a high-ceiling that keep the place well ventilated and cool even during full-capacity with each table a charcoal grill as we've experienced during our dinner.
After taking our orders, we were given a flat napkin which was later on poured with hot water to expand.
Food
Their complimentary banchan includes: Kimchi, Pickle and Muchim (seasoned cucumber).
There's also spicy vegetables that's a perfect add-on to every barbecue dish.
The lettuce, carrot sticks and chili are refillable.
These are also provided for dipping.
Al la Carte
The Hae Mool Pa Jeon is pancake with clam meat, octopus, shrimp and green onion. This is one of the best pa jeon I've tried!
The Seafood Jap Chae is sauteed vegetables with beef, carrots, shrimp, mushroom in sweet potato noodles. This is another hit among us! This is the most extravagant and satisfying jap chae I've had yet.
I've always loved steamed egg like the Japanese Chawan Mushi. But, this is surprisingly the first time I've tried the Korean rendition. The Gyeran Jjim which is a steamed egg on hot stone is very good because it's not jelly-like but more on the fluffly scrambled side. And, yet it's not dried, rough but soft and runny. I hope to encounter more of this in the future.
The Jeonju Dolsot Bibimbab is a stone-ware bibimbap with egg, seaweed, vegetables: cucumber, raddish, carrots and sprouts, cheese and beef strips. This is another top-notch dish by Yoree.
The Haemool Soon Tofu is soft tofu stew with seafood. The default is served at medium spicy. But, you can request to go less or even further. I'm very impressed with this dish because you can taste the wild spicy kick together with the sweet seafood flavors hand in hand. The tofu being soft, smooth and silky is another plus.
Charcoal Barbecue on the Table
After being impressed with the first few dishes we ordered, I found out that the charcoal barbecue at Yoree is the highlight of the dinner. The Gochujang Samgyupsal which is sliced pork belly and garlic with red pepper sauce is one of the best (if not the best) samgyupsal I've encountered. It was so good that I didn't feel any guilt... just purely pleasure in devouring over it. It is cooked with garlic and served with additional kimchi.
Premium
The Yangnyum Galbi 280g is seasoned short rib marinated with sweet and savory sauce with vegetable, shrimp and squid.
The Yangnyum Galbi is expensive but definitely worth every peso.
The server grilled it until ready and then cut it into strips before placing it on our plates.
The Yangnyum Galbi 280g is wagyu ribeye steak with mushroom. It's "wagyu" need I say more?
Desserts
The Pot Bing-Su is shaved ice with milk, adzuki and mango. This is not as extravagant as others I've tried. But, I loved this the most! It's simply refreshing especially after a savory meal.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Yoree Korean Barbecue Dining is one of the best authentic Korean Charcoal dining restaurants in the Metro. And, it's unmatched in terms of elegance too. I'd recommend dining here if you're looking for quality Korean barbecue with excellent ambiance and service to boot. But, note that it does come with the price.

A few months ago, I was in the Bonifacio Global City area when my friend Sumi called me inviting me to go to join them at Koko Buri at Forum South Global.
I usually google about restaurants prior to visiting them so I have an idea about what food they are offering. But since this was an impromptu spur of the moment thing, I didn't know what to expect.
I was surprised that it occupied a large area and the interior were really grand.
It caters to both big and small groups with private function rooms even.
Food
Appetizers
Only when I saw the Chicken Popcorns on the table did I realize that it served Korean Fried Chicken. These little poppers were fun to eat.
But, I enjoyed the superb crunchy coating and softness of the fish meat of the Dori Dori more the the former.
Chicken Meal (served with rice and salad)
They offer the Chicken Meals in two sizes: lunch and dinner (bigger). We liked the crispy and the juiciness of the Chili Garlic Chicken but found the spiciness inadequate especially when the menu indicated it with a spicy level of 3 chillies.
Pasta
The Fettucci di Koko Buri is a hit amongst us. I've never had healthy asparagus cream pasta this good!
Pizza
The Primavera is a fully-loaded crispy thin crusted pizza with ground beef and pork, green and red bell peepers, mushroom, onions and olives.
Sizzling Pots
The Nagasaki Champon is a really hot pot... hot meaning spicy! =) It was even spicier that the Chili Garlic Chicken. It's a huge bowlful that's good for 6-8 persons. It has five kinds of seafoods: squid, clams, mussels, alimasag (tiny crab) and shrimps. It also has bean sprouts, cabbage, scallions and udon noodles so its really heavy on the tummy. As a spicy lover, I loved this!
Beverages
The Natural Carrot and Apple Slush was too light for my liking... It would be better if it had more carrots.
Update (November 2014): Dined at Forun South Global and noticed this place is already closed. Guess you have to travel to Pampanga to try them out now.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Koko Buri is an upscale place for Korean Fried Chicken and more. The price is quite reasonable given its impressive ambiance. They also serve imported beers and wines that perfectly soothes its fanciness.

Food options at Bonifacio Global City has gotten even got wider with the coming of Forum South Global filled with unique food concepts such as Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne.
Located on the first floor, don't miss its red and black sign. It's window display allows you to peek into its grand and cozy ambiance.
Although it gives a sophisticated feel, it is filled with booths making it a great hang out for groups. Just like a hotel lobby, they don't adopt a dress code policy so people of all ages can just come with their most comfortable attire.
The highlight of Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne is their 7-course wagyu degustation. As you are seated in this special area, Chef Jay Rollan will personally prepare your dishes.
Each table has plates and utensils already set up.
Food
Upon taking our orders, we were provided their complimentary bread and herb butter.
Appetizers and Salads
The Spicy Caesar Salad is grilled Cajun chicken, Parmesan crispy, quail egg, bacon, romaine and mixed greens. We really loved the spicy twist of the dressing and the cajun chicken was impressive as well.
Soups
We all fancied the rich and creamy Brocolli Soup. Even the boys who are not fond of green vegetables took each sip with delight.
Too bad I couldn't say the same for the Wild Mushroom Soup. Although it is composed of four kinds of wild mushrooms and dashed with a hint of truffle oil, we found its taste and texture too light to be appreciated.
Pasta
The Bell Pepper Pomodoro is classic Italian pasta in Seven pomodoro sauce, roasted bell peppers, basil pesto, tomatoes, queso blanco, parmigiano regiano, and Italian sausages. This is my kind of pasta. I just loved the red tangy fresh taste of tomato sauce. The bold meaty taste of the Italian sausage also stood out and enhanced the flavor.
Seafood
The Potato-Crusted Seabass
is Chillean seabass with truffle cream, leek fondue and red wine sauce. This was heavily praised during our meal! The price may be hefty but this is definitely heavenly. We loved the flakiness and the juiciness of the seabass as well as the symphony of flavors from everything beneath.
Beef and Lamb
The Hanger Steak was grilled perfectly at medium. Every bite into its tender and succulent meat was a pleasure for us all.
Dessert
Never ever leave Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne without ending your meal with any of their dessert! The French Beignet is a classic french doughnut sprinkled with powdered sugar. Each bite delivers a light and crisp sensation followed by toothsome chewiness. You can have some fun dipping it into the 3 kinds of sauces: Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, and Mango. I loved Mango the most.
The Chocolat Verrine is a multi-layered chocolate masterpiece. It has moist devil's food cake, chocolate mousse, almond meringue and vanilla cremeux topped with orange and wafer. Each spoonful is a chocolate-y bliss for me.
Last but certainly not the least is the White Chocolate Panna Cotta with Basil Cremeux. It is white chocolate and basil panna cotta verrine topped with almond streusel, strawberry coulis and fresh kiwi and mango. This cup exudes not only utmost beauty in terms of presentation but it also englamours tantalizing sophistication in terms of flavors.
