When something opens in my side of town, I definitely need to check it out. So one afternoon after my yoga class, I decided to drop by 24 Chicken Pedro Gil Branch.
As shown by its logo, it specializes in food delivery.
You can also take out as it has a dedicated order and pick up counter.
What I didn't expect was that it had a dine-in area located at the 2nd floor. Yes, there's a staircase behind this wall.
I especially like the nook area overseeing the busy Pedro Gil - Taft streets.
Food
To be honest, I not so enthusiastic to try another Korean Fried Chicken after witnessesing the Korean Fried Chicken craze fizzle out. Seems Bochon and Kyochon are the few Korean Fried Chicken chains from Korea that are still visibly dominant in the market. A few brands I've tried from Korea like Smoper Chicken and Holdak were short-lived.
Coincidentally, I met my couple blogger friends from Yogo and Cream who were so excited to try 24 Chicken again. They said that 24 Chicken is their favorite so I got really epicurious.

How conveneint that 24 Chicken has various flavors that captures different taste profiles. Being a spicy and garlic lover, I was captivated by the Yangnyeom x2 and Yangnyeom Garlic. The
Yangnyeom x2 is not overwhelmingly spicy but has some sweet tones to it. The Yangnyeom Garlic is loaded with raw garlic. Actually, you can order any flavor and just top the raw garlic for an addition of 20 php.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
24 Chicken has three factors for success which I refer to the 3 Cs: 1.) Comforting blend of flavors and crunchiness 2.) Cheap price 3.) Convenient with quick delivery and take-outs. I find its name very appropriate because with the 3 Cs, you'd want and you could enjoy 24 Chicken as often as you can.

Seoul Korean Restaurant: Hidden Authentic Korean Gem (Ortigas Pasig)
Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines
When we ate at Jang Ga Nae, my little sister said that we should have eaten at Seoul Korean Restaurant where she and her schoolmates always dine at. I told her that Jang Ga Nae was top-rated by bloggers and netizens while Seoul Korean Restaurant is unsearchable online.
She told me that this place used to be named Happy 6 Days. Since my little sister is the ultimate K-pop and Korean food fan in the family, we take her suggestions highly and gave Seoul Korean Restaurant a try.
It is not as big as it's next door neighbor but believe it or not, I find simple homy places more appealing.
Food
We were served their delicious Complimentary Banchan: Miyeok Muchim (seaweed salad), Mu Saengchae (thinly sliced radish kimchi), Kimchi, Gyeran Mari (fried egg), Okra Kangjung, Dubu Ganjangjorim (pan-fried tofu with spicy sauce). We loved all of them! We were looking forward to trying more dishes upon tasting these!
The Kimbap is so good too!
The Dak Galbi is one of the best I've had! The spiciness isn't overwhelming with a mellow sesame essence. The serving size is hefty too.
The O-Sam Bulgogi is thin pork an squid slices in soy sauce marinate. We had the spiciness at mild level. This was another hit! The pork and squid were tender plus the marinade was so delicious!
Leading Korean Fried Chickens brands are no match for the Yang Nyum Chicken. It's got finger-licking sauce, very crunchy skin and tender juicy meat. I'm actually quite surprised at how good this is!
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Seoul Korean Restaurant is Pasig's hidden authentic Korean gem. Every dish we ordered was so good! Taste-wise, I felt that they don't scrimp on ingredients as the dishes are so rich and hearty just like the kind of food my mom and I would prepare at home. Their serving size is good for sharing so bring some company with you. I highly recommend this place.

A few months ago, I was in the Bonifacio Global City area when my friend Sumi called me inviting me to go to join them at Koko Buri at Forum South Global.
I usually google about restaurants prior to visiting them so I have an idea about what food they are offering. But since this was an impromptu spur of the moment thing, I didn't know what to expect.
I was surprised that it occupied a large area and the interior were really grand.
It caters to both big and small groups with private function rooms even.
Food
Appetizers
Only when I saw the Chicken Popcorns on the table did I realize that it served Korean Fried Chicken. These little poppers were fun to eat.
But, I enjoyed the superb crunchy coating and softness of the fish meat of the Dori Dori more the the former.
Chicken Meal (served with rice and salad)
They offer the Chicken Meals in two sizes: lunch and dinner (bigger). We liked the crispy and the juiciness of the Chili Garlic Chicken but found the spiciness inadequate especially when the menu indicated it with a spicy level of 3 chillies.
Pasta
The Fettucci di Koko Buri is a hit amongst us. I've never had healthy asparagus cream pasta this good!
Pizza
The Primavera is a fully-loaded crispy thin crusted pizza with ground beef and pork, green and red bell peepers, mushroom, onions and olives.
Sizzling Pots
The Nagasaki Champon is a really hot pot... hot meaning spicy! =) It was even spicier that the Chili Garlic Chicken. It's a huge bowlful that's good for 6-8 persons. It has five kinds of seafoods: squid, clams, mussels, alimasag (tiny crab) and shrimps. It also has bean sprouts, cabbage, scallions and udon noodles so its really heavy on the tummy. As a spicy lover, I loved this!
Beverages
The Natural Carrot and Apple Slush was too light for my liking... It would be better if it had more carrots.
Update (November 2014): Dined at Forun South Global and noticed this place is already closed. Guess you have to travel to Pampanga to try them out now.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Koko Buri is an upscale place for Korean Fried Chicken and more. The price is quite reasonable given its impressive ambiance. They also serve imported beers and wines that perfectly soothes its fanciness.

Have you ever felt for a craving for something to munch in the middle of the day? I know I have. So, I thought it was brilliant for BonChon Chicken to introduce their new BonChon Snack Ons.
I have to admit, the last time I've been to BonChon Chicken was more than a year ago. During that time, I was intrigued by their Bulgogi selection. New items are always that ones that lure me in you see. So I'm quite excited that they have more selections! I'm quite please that introduced salad selections since my last visit too.
Food
Mains
Hmm... I wonder why I missed ordering this before. This version of Chapchae is excellent from the bounciness of the noodles to the richness of flavor.
Sides & Salads
The Sweet Potato Fries are addictive! They are made from imported golden yellow sweet potatoes which are naturally sweet and tasty.
For those who prefer onions than potatoes like me, the Onion Rings is a great option.
Snacks
The Fish Taco is my new favorite at Bonchon. It's definitely the bang for the buck complete meal! If you recall the basics of food nutrition, you can see that its got the soft taco as go food, coleslaw as glow food and fish as grow food.
Snackwich
There's been a highlight for chicken burgers for the past few months. I'd say the Double Garlic Snackwich should be added as one of the options! The garlic sauce and the sweet and savory chicken fillet is a superb combination.
The Double Spicy Snackwich is a chicken shandiwch with Kimchi Coleslaw. If been a consistent reader, you'd know that I am crazy for spicy foods. This is my kind of chicken burger!
What I like most about their chicken fillet is the consistent thin and crunchy coating. The chicken meat is also tender and juicy. Every bite is so sensational!
Chicken Poppers
The Chicken Poppers reminds me of chicken nuggets because of its size. It has the same Bonchon Soy Garlic glaze as with all chicken products.
The Spicy Chicken Poppers on the other hand is glazed with their spicy sauce.
If you want to eat the chicken popper with fries, you can order the Poppers & Fries Snackbox. Because you can save 15 php compared to ordering a large Chicken Popper and Fries separately.
Crispy Crepes & Ko-Yo (Korean Yogurt)
Although I've tried soft and fluffy crepes before, this is actually my first time to try a crispy dessert crepe. The golden brown coating gives a wonderful crispiness. On the contrary, it is soft on the inside like a that of a puff pastry.
The Mangoes & Cream Crispy Crepe is filled with Mango preserves. I initially expected the mangoes to be sweet like our local mangoes but instead the mango cubes tasted peachy so I assumed that they are made from imported mangoes.
The Apple Caramel Crispy Crepe is drizzled with Cinnamon and caramel syrup.
It was filled with apple preserves.
You can safely assume from my expansive Frozen Yogurt posts that I am fond of them. So I was eager to finish my meal just to try their Ko-Yo selections. The Banoffie Pie Ko-Yo is Ko-Yo topped with banana slices drizzled with caramel syrup. It also has crunchy pie crust crumbs in the middle. The sweetness of the banana and caramel was a good contrast to the tangy yogurt flavor. I enjoyed this to the last bit.
My friend had the Blueberry Torte Ko-Yo which I was able to sample. He enjoyed it because he loved blueberries. Well for me, this is sour blueberries + sour Ko-Yo.
My kind of Ko-Yo perhaps is the Mango Sanrival Ko-Yo. It's got mangoes and bits of cashew nuts. This was emptied quickly as if this wasn't my second Ko-Yo cup. =p
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
BonChon Chicken has surely grown with more branches and offerings. I can see its growth to continue as it taps to more diners with various preference. It's now more than just Korean Fried Chicken. Like on my diet days (rare but there are those days I swear!), I see their salads as a great option!

We've tried a number of Korean Fried Chicken since the concept has landed in the Philippines. But, our quest continues as we try more of it. Our latest discovery is 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken. Good thing it's beside our favorite coffee shop, Seattle's Best, at SM Mall of Asia so we noticed it despite the mismatch of colors that made its lighted sign difficult to read.
I've heard a lot of raves about this joint since it was brought here in the Philippines from New York inspired concept from Singapore last January 2012.
“4 Fingers” signifies the four friends who established the fast-food branch. At the same time, it also pertains to using "4 Fingers" that you use for eating the chicken.
It was quite funky with this "4 Finger" glass window that let's you peek through the kitchen. It also had a printed wall with remarks about "4 Fingers"
We wanted to try dining at this unique high table and chair but it was occupied. It looked way cool that the usual table sets located in the inner part of the restaurant.
Given their limited space which was mostly taken up by the kitchen area, they were able to utilize it well with the narrow dining set up.
Food
Ala Carte
I was expecting our chicken to be served at the stainless steel lunchboxes like from the other tables but
perhaps they only use that for meal orders. We ordered in sets and got the Chicken Drumsticks in 6 pcs.
According to the box, this 4 Fingers should be kept secret but their chicken is so good to be kept as one!
Its coating is perfectly crunchy. Their blend of sauce is savory yet not overpowering. And, the chicken is juicy too!
Sides
The Kim Chi Coleslaw is just alright. It had some spice that could tickle the taste buds and break the monotony of just devouring over their chicken.
The Skinny Fries a nice side of crunchiness and red pepper-y and seaweed flavor.
The Rice with Spice & Teriyaki was not as enticing as the menu image. Quite frankly, we'd appreciate more teriyaki sauce on it. Plus, it was on the dry side.
Update (July 2014): Noticed that this branch is now closed. Try their other branch instead.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
4 Fingers Crispy Chicken is one of the best Korean Fried Chicken that we've tried yet. Pricing is within the benchmark of its kind. I also love the funky street-style ambiance. I'm glad they opened in SM Mall of Asia so we were able to try it out. Although I'm generally not as eager as the rest when it comes to this type of dish, I'd would never hesitate coming back to enjoy 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken!
