Johnny Rockets is an international chain that offers a one of a kind classic retro feel-good Americana vibe.
But, now there's only one branch. And during our visit, the air-conditioning isn't working well.
But, we were okay with that. We were just excited to try the Juke Box.
Well... at least it got us excited... But, disc is always error when selected.

Food at Johnny Rockets has always been plain and simple.

But, pricey!

We didn't mind though because we were missing the experience it offered.

Good thing the food and shakes are still the same.

Yes, it still bring us comfort.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
We're really sad that Johnny Rockets turned out like the way it is. It is no longer the cool retro burger joint it once was.

Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken: Chicken at Budget Price in Magiting Teacher's Village (Food Panda Maginhawa Food Crawl)
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
Our third stop for our Food Panda Maginhawa Food Crawl is Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken.
It is located in Magiting St. at Teacher's Village which is actually beside the closed down Chilli and Ink I've shared before. I love the graffiti art on the wall. It actually reminded me of the documentary I watched about graffitis called "Exit Through The Gift Shop". That film change the way I view paintings on the walls from just random vandals to appreciating street art. I don't know how it is in the Philippines though but in other countries, they have a street art scene and street artists are know by their code names and like all artists, it takes them years to develop their art style that will distinguish their fame. Well, anyway let's head back to Homies.
Homies is a no fuzz, I just want my food king of place. It has two pairs of wooden tables with wooden benches and three pairs of white wooden tables with wooden stools for its dining area.
It also has a counter where you're supposed to order and pay. On the right side is their menu chalk board.
This is so cute! If the Japanese have the Matryoshka doll, they have this.
Each table has a pail for the napkins and...
a rubber chicken that makes a weird loud cuckoo sound when you squeeze it. Pressing actually means you want more of their unlimited rice.
Food
Homies Chicken
Pinoy fried chicken is actually one of my favorite comfort food. I could finish a whole of it all to myself. How happy I am that the Whole Homies Chicken is so hearty as it is so crispy and juicy. Given the amazing price, I'd prefer this over Max's anytime.
Homies Meals
The Chilli Con Carne is the winning meal for me. It's right blend of spiciness gives a festive flair to the other components: parsley, cheese, ground beef and beans.
The Chicken Curry was tad too salty for me. In fact, this is the first time I've encountered a Filipino curry dish that had a saltiness that overpowered the curry flavor.
The Pork Menudo is another dish worthy of coming back for. Doesn't it look so appealing? Well, it tastes as good as it looks.
The Chicken Teriyaki is another dish with a saltiness way beyond what I can tolerate.
Merienda
The Meatball Spaghetti is prepared pinoy spaghetti style distinguished by its sweet blend. The pasta is cooked al dente and the sauce is comforting enough. The meatballs were just okay.
The Chilli Hotdog is one of my favorite snack foods when I was little. I'd often ask our cook or my brother to prepare some for me. My liking for this dish was influenced by one my favorite cartoon and video game character: Sonic the Hedgehog. He loves his chili dog so much that every episode, he'd go and reward himself a chili dog. This Chilli Hotdog is pretty good. But, it would have been better if the hotdog was more meaty.
Extras
For a very affordable price, you can add Juice to your meal.
