Salakot Alfresco Dining and Café: Delicious Filipino Cusine in a Nipa Hut Village (Silang Cavite)

The efficient planning and design of Salakot Alfresco Dining and Café as a nipa hut village, with more than adequate physical distance between the well-designed and architectured small, big and two-storey huts surrounded by beautiful flowers and greeneries that naturally promotes air circulation and coolness, is what makes it the ideal pandemic dining venue near Metro Manila.
Aside from the wide and spacious walk-ways, its also has sufficient parking spaces and waiting areas to accommodate a long queue.
Salakot Main Hall
There is a concrete hall, which is equipped with a stage and multiple dining tables, that can cater to a large number of guests in case of special events and occasion.
While waiting for an available hut, we took our chance to take our photos by this beautiful stage and backdrop.
Salakot Café
Salakot Café has a dedicated space near the parking for those who prefer to have their coffee on the go.
The drinks served in the café is also available for diners as well.
Salakot Al-fresco Kubo-style Dining
The huts come in a variety of designs, shapes and sizes which makes them capable of entertaining diners of various numbers.
It also almost assures that returning diners will have a different hut ambiance to enjoy.
It also lives up to its name as Salakot hats (yes, not huts 😆) - the Philippine traditional lightweight cone-shaped headgear, are placed as decors for diners to take notice of.
This seems to be the biggest hut amongst them all.
We were a assigned to the hut opposite of the cafe. The servers responsible to serve our hut was a cheery and courteous couple whose excellent service made our dining experience exceptionally memorable.

The Tawilis Frito is adequately battered to deliver a delicate crisp followed by the tender and lightly salted fish meat. In sum, the entire tawilis was simply too irresistible not to munch on.

As you can see, the Fried Boneless Bangus was well-marinated, precisely-fried, peppered and spiced. Needless to mention, the size justifies the price.

This is the first time we've tried eggplant cooked in coconut milk like this Talong w/ Gata. We absolutely loved the fragrance, creaminess and rich garlicky flavor of this dish! Will definitely order this again!

Of course, a meal is incomplete without rice so we ordered the Java Rice, which was not as remarkable as the viands but it is still a viable alternative to the plain rice for an extra cost.

Even though the beverage list, in addition to those served in its cafe, was rather expansive, we're all ordered the Buko Juice, which was filled with naturally sweet buko juice and tender young coconut meat. Since we have yet to chance upon a buko like this in Manila, we're quite satisfied with our choice.

No doubt, with consistent its delicious Filipino dishes, professional service crew and well-managed hygienic atmosphere, Salakot Alfresco Dining and Café will emerge as one of the top dining coffee and dining destination in Cavite.

Whenever I would go to Tagaytay, the first on my list would be Buko Pie and in addition, I'd buy Buffalo or Carabao Milk as pasalubong for the family. Buffy's is located just beside Orient - The Original Buko Pie Shop so it's quite convenient for me to purchase there.
Their signage is big and eye-catching.
Inside, there's a dine in area.
Yes, they have a menu. But despite my numerous visits, I have yet to try it.
To be honest, all buffalo or carabao milks I've tried taste just the same to me. So I just buy whereever convenient. The price is negiligible of course. But, I think Mr. Moo which I've previously shared is a bit cheaper because it is merely a pop out store. But, the service here is better because they ice the milk properly. They also have ice creams and yogurt which I have yet to try.

Mer-Ben Tapsilogan: Search for the Best Bulalo Plus Crispy Tawilis (Tagaytay City Cavite)

It was a holiday break and I would personally love to enjoy a relaxing day at home. But... that's not what happened because my mom spontaneously informed us that we are going to Tagaytay in search for the best bulalo. No, we're not trying all the bulalo places in Tagaytay in a day. We just take our time and try one bulalo place in every visit. On our way to Tagaytay, the siblings and I googled for the best bulalo place in Tagaytay and there seems to be many mentions on Mer-Ben Tapsilogan.
Because of the term tapsilogan, we were looking for a low-key small-scale canteen like place just like the humble taposilgans in Manila. But lo and behold, Mer-Ben Tapsilogan seems to be a huge enterprise. There's a big space for parking lot. There are lots of dried tawilis vendors. We actually bought some 3 for 100 php packs. We were told by the vendor "Madali lang lutuin yan maam. Tabang yan walang alat basta lagyan lang ng itlog at flour" (That's easy to cook maam. That's not salted so just put egg and flour). When we cooked it, we were surprised that it was saltier than dried tuyo so we gave it away. Anyway, back to Mer-Ben... There's another restaurant beside this but with no parking space and it's also Mer-ben.
There's also a souvenir shop.
There are a lot of huts from small to big where you can dine. If you decide to eat in the huts, you can be serenaded by the these guys.
We opted to go inside.
We passed by their food display.

It has a good view as you can see the lake at the distance.
We would see the huts from there. And being higher and open-air, it was so cold!

Number 1 on our agenda list is to order the Extra Special Bulalo. We ate this fast without a moment to spare because it got cold pretty fast. We loved the tenderness and portion of the meat. But, the family was not satisfied with the flavor of the broth.

We also ordered Crispy Tawilis. Surprisingly, the family enjoyed this more than the bulalo. We ordered another of this.

Sad to say, the best bulalo is not here in Mer-Ben Tapsilogan. Being on the upper floor, we also found it difficult to call the staffs attention. I'd only recommend this place if you're all for the ambiance or no place is open yet because this is open 24 hours.

Marcia Adam's is one of my aunt's favorite places and because she super adored every visit, we were convinced to visit it too.
I've read in blogs that we should reserve ahead because they have limited dining space so we did.
To our surprise, the place was huge and there were different types of dining areas.
Since we had a reservation, we were ushered to our allocated table passing by the lush green garden.
and other dining areas.
I can see why my aunt loved it here. Everything is artsy from the structures even to the littlest details like the utensils.
Dining here felt like your in the comforts of your own home but with the refreshing atmosphere of your dream garden.
It was a cool drizzling day but being in Marcia Adam's Tuscany made us feel like we were bask in bright sunshine and embraced by the colors of spring flowers.
It's amazing how so many different things chime in as one. The food takes a while to be served but we didn't mind as we found the place enchanting and we took it a chance to have a fun bonding time.

Having travelled all the way there, we appreciated the Complimentary Bread as soon as it landed on our well-decorated table.
Salads (additional 75 php to substitute the included appetizer)
The Provolone Melon and Arugula Salad was served in a beautiful form of a flower. It has some proscuitto, provolone cheese, arugula and melon balls. It was sprinkled with a sweet and tangy raspbery vinaigrettte.
Appetizers
For such a cold weather, the Bacon and Potato gave us a pleasing warmth from our mouths to our bellies.
The Amalfi Prawns are rather small fried and bread prawns with subtle marinade of salt, pepper, olive oil and parsley. Perhaps, I was too famished as it only took me a few seconds to pop these onto my mouth and they were gone.
Main Course (Minimum of 700 php per person and comes with the appetizer and dessert
Kebabs
The Beef Tenderloin and Bacon Kebabs was one of the best dishes that we tried. The beef tenderloin was so savory and succulent. The only draw back was that we were almost finished before this dish was served.
The Fish Souvalaki for that day was tanigue. It was somewhat dry so we regretted not ordering a more meaty option instead.
The Grilled Aromatic Pork is a must try! I can't really pinpoint their blend of herbs and spices but it was definitely good!
The Italian Pork Chop was something new for us as well. It was not the usually sweet marinade that we are used to. It was lightly seasoned.
Stews and Casserole
Prior to this, the only bean stew I've tried is the canned Hunt's Pork and Beans. Since the price disparity is huge, the taste is also that much of a difference. I loved the Spanish Bean Stew! But I think I'll settle for the canned version for most days due to affordability.
The Spanish Chicken Casserole was another dish that gained most approval. It's so good, it will make you eat more rice!
Pasta
The Ai Funghi was simple but the freshness of the mushrooms gave it a big boost.
I liked that the Bolognese was tangy rather than sweet but other than that, it didn't have much leverage compared to the other dishes.
Desserts
The Panna Cotta with Lemon Sauce is a great way to end the meal. It's citrus flavors will cleanse and refresh your palate.
The Strawberry Yoghurt Ice Cream with Berry Compote brings a mellow tangy berry flavor that will reset your tongue into clean cool slate.
The Banana Split with Chocolate Ice Cream is my least favorite dessert. THe fried banana slices and chocolate were too heavy for a finale.
The best choice but comes with additional price is the Lemon Cheesecake.

Marcia Adam's Tuscany offers a unique atmosphere paired with their unique quality menu selections. Other than being expensive and far from the city, I don't see any drawbacks that would hinder you from dining here. I highly suggest it for dates and all types of intimate occasions. And, they change their menu every season so more reason to go back again.
