Asunaro Japanese Restaurant: Our Most Loved Japanese Restaurant (Pan Pacific Hotel Manila)
Malate, Manila, 1004 Metro Manila, Philippines
The family has had thousands of dinner celebrations. But, except for our own homes, none of them are as special as Asunaro that gets to be our chosen dining venue for more than once.
Whether it's for a casual after-spa dinner, mother's day and birthday, Asunaro has always been a recurring option for the family. We've been dining here since its former Miyabi days. Thus, I could safely conclude that its the extended family's most loved Japanese Restaurant.
Like our family, the place has undergone a lot of changes. But, I think their interior right now is the best. Hence, only sharing about them just now. (Good excuse for my delinquency right?)
I find it to be very in tuned with nature.
Food
Ala Carte
A must order at Asunaro is their fresh salmon sashimi. Whether its Sake (Salmon) or the Harasu (Fatty Flesh of Salmon Belly), you can always count on its freshness.
The Iradori Maki is a tuna and salmon california maki with mango and crabsticks.
Special Menu
Robotayaki
Agemono
You can already tell by its visual appeal that the Ebi Tempura (Prawn Tempura) is top-notch.

Dinner Set Menu
There are many other options to choose from. Budget is around 1,000 and above but can be shared between ladies.

Asunaro Japanese Restaurant is our family's most loved Japanese restaurant and no doubt it will always be.

Sake (Salmon) (150 php) |
♥ Harasu (Fatty Flesh of Salmon Belly) (350 php) |
♥ Uni (Sea Urchin) (250 php) |
Another favorite of ours that great for sharing is the Uni (Sea Urchin).
Iradori Maki (380 php) |
Kani Ebi Tempura Maki (280 php) |
The Kani Ebi Tempura Maki is a fun choice because of their great tempura bits.
Special Menu
♥ Maguro Cube Spicy Sashimi (280 php) |
The Maguro Cube Spicy Sashimi is one of the best spicy tuna in the Metro. Perhaps, I prefer this more than Nihonbashitei's.
Robotayaki
♥ Chicken Teriyaki (260 php) |
The Chicken Teriyaki is light-tasting and very tender just the way I like it.
Agemono
Ebi Tempura (Prawn Tempura) (430 php) |
Family Menu
Family Kaki Nabe (1,850 php) |
Out of all I've tried at Asunaro, I believe that the Family Kaki Nabe is quite expensively priced. Though the oysters were huge, it is not strikingly extraordinary for the price.
♥ Family Yakiniku (1,200 php) |
Since the guys in the family are practically carnivores, the Family Yakiniku is a must on our dining table.
We always opt for the set menu or bento because it is the most bang-for-the-buck.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Asunaro Japanese Restaurant is our family's most loved Japanese restaurant and no doubt it will always be.

Zipang Modern Japanese Cuisine: Satisfying Authentic Japanese Lunch (Tomas Morato Quezon City)
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
A few weeks ago, my cousin treated me to a satisfying authentic Japanese lunch at Zipang Modern Japanese Cuisine. Zipang is not along the main food scene area of Tomas Morato.
But, it was conveniently placed beside Ingarden Philippines - my Aunt's world class home decor shop at Jamboree Street Corner Scout Fuentebella.
I've really fortunate that my family and relatives have always been supportive of my hobbies and ventures. Knowing that I loved photography, my cousin offered me the opportunity to try product photography by having a photo shoot of her items.
Of course, I was delighted with the project. While food is the reason why I got into photography, I wanted to learn more than just food photography. Because of blogging, I got to try some Fashion Photography, Events Photography and Travel and Landscape Photography. I also sometimes do Kiddie Party Videography and Photography with my sisters. But, I've always had an enthusiasm for other types of photography.
Aside from the photography experience, they also bring me to new food places that I've never been to before such as Zipang.
Food
According to the menu, the restaurant is owned by Chef Masashi from Nagano Japan.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Would we come back to Zipang again? Definitely! The dishes are authentic and of quality. But, definitely go for the Teishoku Sets if you want to get the most out of your money's worth. The service is great too!

There are so many food merchants in Buendia Food By the Court (BFBTC) that I've decided to make them into two posts. Check out part 1 here.
When craving for affordable Japanese favorites, Little Kodo is your food stop.
From light snacks like Gyoza to heavy Katsu Bento Meals, they have it all.
Check out their Takoyaki with lots filled with nutritious ingredients.
On a rainy day, have some Ramen to comfort you.
For hefty eaters, this Katsu Bento Meal will surely satisfy you.
Ever tried Japanese-American subs?
Well, Mad Subs has these unqiue and creative subs for you to try.
They also allow DIY!
There aren't a lot of place where you can enjoy a good paella. If you're craving for one, look no further as Pappi Boy’s Spanish Cocina has serves Paella Valenciana and Paella Negra in individual portions for only 150 php.
The Lengua is also a must try!
Revolutionizing Cua Paos, Shangkee Buns variants such as Pulled Pork, Crispy Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki, Peppery Beef and All-American will intrigue your palette.
Rj's Bowl-Gogi Korean specialties such as Kimchi Fried Rice, Bibimbap and Bulgogi is another great meal option.
Even those unfamiliar with Korean cuisine will find this orientation to the cuisine fun and exciting.
I was surprised that theirs a stall offering Rojak Salad. It is a mixture of fruits and vegetable with sweet peanuty palm dressing. It was definitely something new for me.
Enjoy Sausages by itself with the Sausage Platter or Sausage in a Bun.
One of my favorite is the Salted Egg Prawns.
The Sinigang Fried Rice is also amazing!
More than your usual Tapsilog, Tapa Addiction uses its award-winning tapa in all sorts of dishes from pasta to rice bowls.
For those who have sweet tooth or craving for sweet-enders, XOXO Waffle Frosts is there to fulfill your desire.
Although Ice Cold is one of the popular stops for alcholohic beverages, you can opt for a healthier choice with Brothers Blends.
Aside from healthy fruit juices, they also have coffee...
and froyo.
So from snacks to meals to sweet-enders and sinful and healthy drinks, just take your pick cause Buendia Food by the Court has it all!
