I have to admit, I had no clue on what to expect. The name barely even hints what it has to offer.
The pioneer store is stationed at Fisher Mall. It has a casual ans Asian-influenced dining area with an open kitchen.

To celebrate my mom's birthday with relatives, we reserved our dinner at Azuthai Restaurant. Although we haven't tried it yet, we took the risk since it had high ratings on TripAdvisor.com and it was highly recommended to me by foodie friends.
The parking was limited so we're lucky to be early so we still had a slot. But, not to worry since their guard will aid in finding you one.
We were welcomed in and ushered to our reservation table as soon as we reached the front door. They had a more private area with dividers. Mom was wondering why we weren't assigned there. Only to find out later that the Marcoses (Imelda Marcos, Imee Marcos and company) would occupy that place for a casual family dinner.
While waiting for our guests, they gave as Complimentary Nuts.
Food
Appetizer
To start our rather long dinner, we began with the Tod Man Goong. I'm not usually a fan of fried fritter dishes but this Thai fried shrimp cake was delightful especially with the sweet and spicy dipping sauce. It was not oily at all but rather it had a thin splendidly crunchy coating and soft and tasty shrimp filling.
The Poh Pia Paksot is fresh Thai spring rolls in rice paper with special sauce with peanuts. Nothing extraordinary about this one but it had some boasting freshness to it.
Soups
The servers assisted in serving the big bowl of Guio Tiao into three bowlfuls. It is actually my first time to try the Guio Tiao. It is a spicy beef noodle soup with clear rice noodles, star anise, cinnamon, cilantro and bean sprouts. They gave us a bowl of hot sauce so we could add more spiciness according to our preference. This is really good!
The Tom Yum Poh Tak is spicy thai seafood soup with seabass, squid, prawns and mushrooms in clear both. An order is good for three bowlfuls. We ordered this mild which turned out to be not spicy at all. It had a slight sweetness and sourness with hint of herbs and spices. It was a quite soothing to drink.
Salads
The Yam Pla Duk Foo is crispy catfish shred salad with thin strips of green mango, crushed peanuts, onions, sliced lettuces and mint sprinkled with lime dressing. The crispy catfish is very very crisp as evident from its darker than golden color. As not much flavor is derived from the catfish bits, tanginess from the green mangoes and lime dressing is dominating for this dish.
This is one of the best Yam Som O I have tried yet! The Yam Som O is a sweet pomelo salad with jumbo prawns, chicken bits, toasted coconut in chili lime dressing.
Vegetables
The Gaeng Phet Pak is red vegetable curry mixed with coconut milk with broccoli, cauliflower ,carrots, green and red peppers and young corn. This is satisfactory but since we also ordered the Massaman Gaeh which had the same red curry, it was outshun by the latter.
Curries
The Massaman Gaeh is the headline of the evening. Everyone was full of oohs and aahs over this dish! The massaman lamb in ember red curry mixed with coconut milk is so tender and savory. The shallots, potatoes and peanuts are complementary to the exemplary lamb meat!
The Gaeng Kew Wan Gai is tender chicken cubes in green curry mixed with coconut milk with eggplant slices and basil. This is not as fiesty as the red curry but it has its own sophisticated flare.
Mains
The Gai Ho Bai Toey is pandan chicken with sweet soy sauce. My cute little nephew loved this! He ate three pieces of this dish in a flash and wouldn't want anything else.
The Gai Kra Prow is stir-fried minced chicken with hot chili bits, crunchy string beans and crispy basil leaves. I really loved the festive taste of basil in this dish!
Noodles and Rice
The Pad Thai was served in the most beautiful arrangement as seen on the menu. Too bad I forgot to snap a shot since we were too excited to cosume this and requested the staff to mix it as soon as it was served. This is Pad Thai is heavenly! Although I'm trying to stay away from carbs, I along with everyone else can't help myself from indulging this.
The Khao Kapi is another popular dish which is the Thai bagoong fried rice. This one is a bountiful with harmonious ingredients of sweet pork chunks, dried shrimp, scrambled egg, green mango, string beans and shallots. This earned everyone's approval!
Desserts
The Khao Neaw Ma Mung is a cup of sticky rice covered in rich coconut cream topped with sesame seeds with ripe mango slices. After our heavy meal, I know what you're thinking. We might not have any room for dessert right? Believe it or not, everyone kept digging in into this delicious Khao Neaw Ma Mung like there was no tomorrow.
As soon as we, the ladies, were handed out the menu, everyone was already settled over the Tap Tim Krob which was water chestnuts with coconut milk, thick coconut strips and shaved ice. All of us ordered one each and adopted a no sharing policy since we had much expectation for this. But sadly, it was nothing special for me. I was yearning for the distinctive crunchiness from the water chestnuts but there was none.
The Ruamit is a Thai style halo halo. It is the same as the Tap Tim Krob but with kaong (sweet sugar palm) and corn kernels. Like the Ruamit, this is good but nothing spectacular.
Although we ordered a lot of the Tako, since we also received a complimentary order as a birthday present for my mom, not a piece was left on the table. These tapioca coconut cream in pandan cups are so delicious!
Drinks
Beverages
The Thai Iced Tea is thick, rich and a bit too sweet for me.
Coffee lovers will definitely love their rich Thai Iced Coffee with exquisite nutty after-taste.
I'm quite surprised that their Lemongrass Iced Tea is sour like lemonade with lemongrass extract.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
For Thai cuisine, I highly recommend Azuthai Restaurant for its sterling food service, food quality and ambiance. We had a sensational dining experience. The price is a bit on the high side but quite understandable because an order is good for 3 to 5 persons.

Silk Road Thai Bistro: Upscale Fine Dining Thai Cuisine in Fort Bonifacio
31st Street, Taguig, Philippines
A new Thai restaurant called Silk Road Thai Bistro at Net Quad Corporate Center was sensed by our foodie radar.
Its glass windows allowed passers by to see its gallant fine-dining Thai inspired interiors.
The place was dimly lit with a bar on the side and dining area occupying the rest of the first floor. It also has a second floor that offers more privacy. I love the long curtains and hanging lamps.
As wine is available, each table is set up with a wine glass. During late hours, it is planned to have a DJ who will play mellow music so clients can drink and chatter the night away.
I got to know that it is another Thai restaurant by Cecille Chang. This time, I audaciously got to talk to her. (I'm usually shy and just dine and go!) She shared that her first concept was the Thai at Silk in Serendra which I regrettably was not able to try. She then established Simply Thai in Greenbelt 5 with partners before she left for Thailand to study again. When she returned, she opened Thai Bistro in Robinson's Magnolia. Due to the request of her loyal customers from Thai at Silk that she open in the same location, she decided to open this one.
Food
I've always believed that food is not a static thing. Thus, its difficult to say what is original, traditional and authentic. What is important is the essence and Thai food is known for the balance of three to four fundamental taste senses: sweet, sour, salty and bitter.
Starter
Mieng Kham literally means "eating many things in one bite". This is usually sold as a street food in Thailand but this is more elegant as it is served in mini cups. It is my first time to try it. I took everything by hand and purged it into my mouth. It instantly delivered a light yet harmony of flavors: sweet, sour and spicy with a herb-y aftertaste.
The Thai Ravioli is everyone's favorite! I swear I could finish an entire serving of this! It is ground sesame beef and shitake mushrooms bits wrapped in steamed rice paper.
The Son-in-Law Eggs is a traditional celebratory Thai dish with an interesting story behind it. The son-in-law who is in a hurry to cater to the surprise visit of his mother-in-law cooked had no other ingredients but boiled eggs so he fried them with sweet and sour tamarind sauce. While cooking the rice, he forgot about the eggs until the sauce caramelized. Leaving him no choice, he served the eggs with black thickened sauce which turned out to be a tasty and sensational dish. This version is quite tasty indeed!
I really liked the presentation of the Salmon Cone. Be sure to eat this upon serving to preserve the crisp of the waffle cones. In every crunchy bite, the fresh flavors of the salmon cubes infused with lemongrass lime and herbs brought delight to my taste buds. However, I found this too expensive for its petite portion.
Curries
As I am a fan of both curry and lamb, I was excited for the Lamb Shank Mussaman. As expected from an 8-hour slowly cooked dish, it was so tender! It had a savory yet tangy taste. It is served with crispy noodles and sweet potato chips which are fun to munch on.
Fried, Stir Fries and More
The Siamese Pork Ribs is grilled cinnamon caramel pork ribs. Many were impressed with this but since I'm not a fan of sweets, it was just okay for me.
I loved the Chicken Basil. The mix-match of texture of the minced chicken, string beans, basil and fried egg was exemplary!
The Crispy Tilapia with Tamarind Puree is another one which bordered more on the sweet than sour side. Being priced luxuriously, my expectation for this dish was not met. I can't help but compare it to the one I've had in the humble hole-in-the wall Thai Resa.
Noodles
The Pad Thai had a very beautiful presentation which enticed everyone. It was a good as it looks as everyone couldn't stop indulging on it.
Rice
Their Steamed Jasmine Rice was cooked with pandan leaves as evident from the greenish color and taste.
Something Sweet
The Homemade Coconut Ice Cream is a healthy way to end a meal. I've always enjoyed our local coconut and this is a more refreshing way to enjoy it. I liked that it was not sweet at all.
Since it is my favorite, I have to admit, I'm quite biased with the Sticky Rice with Mango so I've never encountered one I didn't like But, this one deserves an extra credit for the superior quality.
The Takhoo Thai is another favorite! This one is quite different from the usual because beneath the coconut cream pudding were pandan flavored tapioca and then topped with water chestnut.
Juice & Shakes
I loved the Thai Green Milk Tea but the Thai Milk Tea was too thick and sweet for my preference.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Silk Road Thai Bistro offers a defining upscale fine dining experience making it perfect for any occasion. It has a lot of innovative dishes to offer and making it a must try for Thai cuisine enthusiast. I commend the excellent ambiance, service and food quality especially in terms of fresh ingredients and presentation. In fact, I'm curious if they have a garden of imported flowers, spices and herbs at the back of their kitchen! XD The thing about Thai cuisine though is it covers a wide range of flavors and I tend to sway towards the sour and spicy rather the sweet side. Perhaps, I'd try more dishes on that side on my subsequent visits.
