My last visit at Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss (see previous entry) left me wanting to try more.  There's no better day to enjoy a hot bowl of noodles than on a rainy day with the company of friends.

Food
My prior dining experience was a bit unfruitful since we totally missed out on the "Koshi" moment.  The key to eating  the noodles at Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss is to eat within the advise time period to enjoy the "Koshi" or the natural sweet taste of noodles that is tender and chewy.

Ramen (Eat within 6 minutes)

♥ Shoyo Ramen (185 php)

The Shoyo Ramen is a hot soy-based soup with a thin pork slice, bamboo shoots, naruto or fish cake and kuchay.  I've shared before how I loved how it tasted.  But, the taste is even enhanced by wonderful feeling brought about by the "Koshi" as you bite through the thin and chewy noodles.  

Soba (Eat within 5 minutes)

Tempura Soba (160 php)

The Tempura Soba had impressed us all with its sweet and pleasurable broth and two large crispy ebi tempura.  Being used to wheat alternatives, I often expect those made of wheat to have a rough and tough texture.  But, Moshi Koshi has proven me wrong!  The buckwheat noodles were as good as their other noodles.  It also gave us a nice "Koshi" experience with its tender and chewy consistency.

Udon (Eat within 5 minutes)

♥ Niku Udon (160 php)

I didn't get to taste the Niku Udon during my last visit and I could totally understand why.  It was delicious!  The thin beef strips were so tender and the broth was so flavorful.  Despite being thick, the udon is tender and chewy that you'll enjoy every bite of it.  

Donburi

♥ Katsudon (170 php)

I loved their Katsudon.  The sweetness was just right so you can appreciate the medley of flavors between the katsu, onions, egg and sauce.  The katsu strips were lean and tender.

Bento
The bento comes with a main viand, Japanese Rice (40 php), Miso Soup (35 php) and four special sidings.

Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss is definitely one of the best places to enjoy an affordable yet authentic Japanese noodles and more.  Thumbs up for the noodle boss for making the one of best freshly made noodles in the Metro.

It has a classy bar that will surely capture your attention.  Perhaps, it was too early for drinking because the bar was empty while the dinning area was packed with a mix bunch of people.


The dining area has well-cushioned seats, frames hang on the walls and book shelves with mementos.  It felt as if it was a secret gentleman's club of some sort.

Complimentary Sweet Potato Chips

While waiting for our orders, we were given their Complimentary Sweet Potato Chips.  It was topped with cheese.  I took it as a clue that they love to offer cheese and I would really love for them to do so. XD

Soups & Salads

Mushroom Soup (225 php)

While my siblings opted for the Emmenthal French Onion (255 php), I took a different route and ordered the Mushroom Soup which was the Soup for the Day.  Although the Mushroom Soup was pretty good, I found the french onion topped with loads of melted Emmenthal cheese more appealing to my taste.

Starters

♥  Spinach & Black Truffle Dip (395 php)

I adored the Spinach & Black Truffle Dip to the last bit.  The creamed spinach with black truffle paste topped with Irish cheese was just so delicious that  I ate them all even though I ran out of sourdough chips to spread them on.  

Angus Salpicao Foie Gras (595 php)

I often get overwhelmed when eating too much Foie Gras so I really liked the balance created by the Angus Beef and the Foie Gras combination.  Perhaps, the Angus Salpicao Foie Gras is the most innovative version of salpicao that I have ever tried.  

Mains

♥ USDA Prime Bone-in Ribeye with Melted Raclette (1,795 php)

The USDA Prime Bone-in Ribeye with Melted Raclette is a 400 gram prime bone-in ribeye steak served with two side dishes of your choice.  Upon serving, the first thing we all noticed is the distinctive smell of the raclette.  But don't let that discourage you from taking a bite because it is the key to making your steak experience memorable.  The steak is cooked medium as instructed too.  

♥ Lamb Shank Caldereta Gratin (595 php)

The Lamb Shank Caldereta Gratin is as good as it looks. The lamb had a solid meaty taste and it was so tender that it almost falls of the bone.  Plus, it was topped with irresistible melted swiss cheese.  This is one of the best dishes of the night!

♥ 2nd's Bistek Tagalog (875 php)

The 2nd's Bistek Tagalog is the most expensive bistek tagalog that I have ever tasted and it is worth every peso.  This is my favorite among all our orders.  The sauce is tasty but you could still appreciate the succulent  and masculinity of the USDA Prime flat iron steak cooked medium rare.  It is served with aligue and corn rice pilaf  and grilled tomato too.

Beef Rib Adobo (565 php)

The Beef Rib Adobo possessed strong flavors with a hint of garlic.  I felt that this dish was overshadowed by the rest.  It also tasted a bit on the salty side for me.  

Triple Mushroom Risotto (485 php)

♥ Rum Cake & Mascarpone Trifle (445 php)

I liked the presentation of the Rum Cake & Mascarpone Trifle as it is served in a huge beer mug.  The rum cake and a layer of balsamic and mix berry compote is topped with honey sweetened mascarpone and pine nuts and drizled with butter scotch.  This is a great twist to the usual rum cake.  It's a must try!

Apple Crumble (245 php) Other than the mantecado espresso sauce, I find the Apple Crumble similar to the rest.  It was stewed sweet and tangy apple slices topped with crumbs.

2nd's is a great place for comfort food indeed.  It also offers an elegant yet cozy ambiance close to a privileged club.  Their pricing is a bit on the high side because they use the finest ingredients such as USDA steaks and expensive cheese.  But, it is certainly worth revisiting when you're willing to spend for comfort food that will please your taste buds and melt your heart away.  Don't forget to log into foursquare for your FREE iced tea. =D

♥ Cobo Milk Tea 22oz (80 php)

I forgot to ask for their sweetness level so I had my Cobo Milk Tea with their default sweetness.  It was not too sweet though.  It had a right balance of tea and cream in it too.  As for the add-ons, I liked the chewiness of their Chew Pearl.  But, I didn't find the Chewdle to my liking.  Although fit the straw just right so I could easily slurp them, I found them more tedious to chew.  I'll try their other add-ons next time, they have a lot of options.  

♥  Cobo Milk Tea 22oz (80 php)

Unlike other milk tea stores, I notice their sweetness level is indicated in the glass itself and not by a sticker.  The sweetness-o-meter was cute too! =D

Cobo is a nice place to hangout with its happy and cozy atmosphere.  I am impressed with their ingeniuty in offering 12 oz. sizes (39 php to 49 php) to make their teas more affordable to students.  I noticed every table ordered the 12 oz. sizes.  I will surely come back and try their other offering when I have the time.  I'm looking forward to try their Premium Milk Tea and Koffee Kraze selection and their Cobo Crunch snacks too.

When I was young, Dads would be the number one option when it comes to affordable eat-all-you can buffets.  Clearly, Dads pioneered the concept which paved way to the numerous buffets being offered now.  

It's been a long time since my last visit so I was very eager to dine at Dads Ultimate Buffet once again.

What I Had
I decided to start my meal with Saisaki's Japanese dishes.  I always believed that Salmon should be enjoyed in its purest and sweetest form so I grabbed some Salmon Sashimi.    There were so many rolls to choose from but I knew it was heavy on the tummy so I settled for California with Unagi Roll and Alaska Beauty Roll.  For main course, I got my fave ♥Asparagus rolled in Beef and ♥Mushroom rolled in Beef, Tofu, Ebi Gyoza and Sakana Chiisu Maki. This plate was a satisfactory one.


For my second plate, I had a Kani Tempura, Chawanmushi, Dad's Paella, Roast Beef, Dad's Lengua and Seafood Kebab.  I enjoyed the ♥ Chawanmushi.  The ♥Roast Beef and the ♥Lengua was cooked nice and tender but I found the fish in the Seafood Kebab too dry.

Bibingka

For dessert, I decided to go for an international mix.  I got a Halo-halo, Bibingka, ♥Buko Pandan, ♥Espasol, Blueberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake.  I enjoyed the Buko Pandan and the Espasol while the rest were good enough.

Dad's Ultimate Buffet offers a lot of options for an unbeatable and affordable price.  Because of their wide selections, I'm sure you can find dishes that will appeal to your taste.  I found some of the dishes to be good while others were just passable.  The service is good and they are quick to refill their dishes.  

Krokotten are Dutch potato snacks that are crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside.  If you love croquettes like me, I'm sure you'll fall in love with this Dutch version too.


Krokotten offers their products in different sizes all for the same price of 35 php.  I watched as my order was being prepared.  They were being deep fried until golden brown.


According to the menu board, Krokotten has twelve dip flavors: Garlic Mayo, Honey Mustard, Pesto Mayo, Tartar, Orange Mayo, Hoisin Mayo, Rouilie, Spiced Tomato and Wasabi Mayo.  I opted to go for the Rouilie for my snacks since its my default choice when it comes to croquettes.

Combo Meal

♥ Meal 1 Cheese Kroketten and 12 oz  Revita 10 Vers En Snel (65 php)

The combo meals are a bang for the buck for me because you get a 5 php saving.  It comes with your choice of Kroketten variant (Kroketten, Kroket ballen or Mini-Ballen) and your choice of Vers En Snel or fresh fruit juice (Revita 10 or Nutri 10).   I chose a Cheese Kroketten with a Revita 10 which is a strawberry and passion fruit juice.  The Cheese Kroketten was very smooth and creamy within.  I find it suitable for kids.  

Chicken Mini-Ballen (35 php)

Kroketten is a delicious and affordable snack that is sure to satisfy your hunger.  These little treats are quite heavy on the stomach.  It is appropriate for all ages too.  I would definitely want to go back and try their other flavors.
