I only had an hour to spare for lunch today so I walked to the nearby Jollibee.  




When dining at fast food joints, I always find myself checking out what's new to try.
 
The BIG Burger Steak caught my attention.  It seemed like a bang for the buck meal for less than a hundred bucks.

For 95 php, here's my BIG Burger Steak Meal.  Not bad right?  The ala carte is even cheaper at 89 php.  The BIG Burger Steak is thick 1/3 pound champ patty with generous amount of flavorful mushroom gravy served with a cup of rice.

With undeniable prices increasing everywhere and most food items getting smaller in terms of serving size, I do appreciate good offerings like this.  It's difficult to find a meal below a hundred that would satisfy me.  Now, this BIGatin meal soothes the kuripot me. =p

When I was in high school, there are only three items I buy from our school canteen: 1. Snowy (it's a cheaper version of 7-11's Slurpee) 2. Ersao Spicy Squid 3. Ersao Fruit Shake.  The Ersao 二嫂  Spicy Squid is a family favorite even my mom likes it.  She occasionally requests us to buy her some so she can eat it whenever she picks us up from school.

That was a very long time ago so imagine our glee when we saw an Ersao 二嫂 branch open here in Malate just a few blocks from home.  They also have a free parking area.  We couldn' help but reminisce our high school days so we paid it a visit.

Unlike a stall in school, it is a full-blown restaurant which adopts a pay-as-you-order system.

Food
They now have more menu selections including rice meals but most of them are not available.  We managed to order every Rice Topping that was available.

Rice Toppings

Spicy Chicken Rice (85 php)

The Spicy Chicken Rice is good.  It was crunchy, peppery and tender on the inside.  But, I still think that these are better off eaten as snacks.

♥ Spicy Squid Rice (85 php)

The Spicy Squid Rice is still the winner for us.  It's exacty as I remembered only a bit tougher to chew.  But next time, I'll just have it as a snack.

 

Taiwan Sausage Rice (110 php)

The Taiwan Sausage Rice is not a bad option either.  It's more suitable with rice the the former two because it was more savory.

Pork Chao Fan (120 php)

The Pork Chao Fan is a bit expensive given the toppings...


Noodles

Beef Kamto Noodles (100 php)

The Beef Kamto Noodles is comes with bokchoy and beef bits.  It's served warm and the flavor is just right.  The size is just not as fulfilling as I hoped.

Blended Green Tea

Yakult Green Tea Regular (65 php)

The Yakult Green Tea was a bit bland for our taste.

Freshly Brewed Milk Tea

Rose Milk Tea (105 php)

The Rose Milk Tea is a bit pricey.  I kind of remembered their drinks to be cheaper.  Taste-wise it was fragrant so I enjoyed it.

Shake Float

♥ Avocado Shake Float (115 php)

The Avocado Shake Float is an upgraded version of my favorite Avocado Shake.  This is so heavenly!  If only it wasn't loaded with so much calories, I could have this everyday.  It has a vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, pearls, nata and super creamy avocado fruit shake.  I highly recommend this!  But on guilt-conscious and budget-conscious days, I can settle for the Avocado Shake. =))


Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Ersao 二嫂 is a good stop-over for affordable Taiwanese snacks and drinks especially their Fresh Fruit Shakes.

A few weeks ago, my friend Flow invited me to join a group of bloggers try out Quick Stomach by Chado Tea Room at Blue Bay Walk which is the new foodies hang out place in Pasay. 

I took the chance to stroll along Blue Bay Walk for the first time since after my family has tried out many food joints there and to see Flow who I haven't since since our trip to Baguio two years ago.

I like the simple eat-and-go set up.  It has purple cozy seats and sparkling white tables.

I'm quite surprised with their wide range of menu.  We loved all the dimsum choices we tried!

Siopao Asado (45 php)

Their Siopao Asado is huge!  It's a fulfilling meal by itself. So sulit! =)

For vegetable, this is a good choice. =)

Pork Binagoongan Rice (100 php)

The Pork Binagoongan Rice is delicious!  The pork was tender and the saltiness is just right.

Pork Chop Rice (100 php)

The Pork Chop Rice is a taiwanese style pork chop which I love!  It's crunchy on the outside but soft in the inside. 


Beef

♥ Beef Lengua with Rice (150 php)

Everyone was praising the Beef Lengua with Rice.  I'll probably order this here in every visit!

Chicken

♥ Quick Stomach Chicken Rice (120 php)

The Quick Stomach Chicken Rice is another must try!  It was a harmonious blend of sweet, spicy and garlick-y flavors.
 

Chicken Curry Rice (100 php)

The Chicken Curry Rice is a spice-filled Filipino style curry dish that's also as satisfying as the rest.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Quick Stomach by Chado Tea Room is a great chill place for affordable meals and drinks!  They have dimsum, rice meals, pasta and even breakfast meals so you can conveniently dine anytime of the day.  I see this as an ideal hang out place for the nearby school and employees because I give it a two thumbs up for the price and relative quality.  They are also open for franchise.

PB Co. Peanut Butter Company displays a nice clean ambiance with its white minimalist theme.  It has a simple counter for the implementation of its pay as you order system.  The menu is displayed atop the cashier area.  Because of the limited space, the area is ideal for small groups.

♥ PB Burger Sandwich (185 php)

The PB Burger Sandwich  is the usual burger with PB Co.  Sesame Peanut Butter instead of plain mayonnaise. It was amazingly delicious!  The roasted taste of sesame was a perfect complement to the beef patty.  The slight crunchiness from the sesame made it even more enjoyable to eat.
