I'm rarely in the Katipunan area so when I'm there I always grab the chance to try one of the student favorite places there.  And, that is how I ended up in Engine 46.

Engine 46 is located near F.B. Dela Rosa Street Cor. Katipunan Avenue which is near to Ateneo Gate 3.  It has a few parking slots which is a plus.



I don't recall encountering a fire station inspired restaurant before so I really appreciated the concept for its creativity.  I have high respect for fire fighters are they are really the modern day heroes which is probably why I loved the movie Firepoof and Flashpoint is one of my most favorite cooperative board games.

T-Bone Steak (195 php)

Engine 46 is famous for their steaks especially among athletes.  I got to try their T-Bone Steak.  It was served medium which for me didn't work so well because they provided the usual bread knife which made slicing through the ligaments quite tough.  On the bright side, I liked their blend of seasoning and gravy.

I was able to try their Engine Special Pizza and ♥ Four Cheese Pizza.  I liked the latter.  Their pizzas are thin and crispy without being oily and soggy so it's great to order for sharing.

Pasta

♥ Tutto Mare (225 php)

The Tutto Mare earned all our approval.  It was a zesty tomato-sauce based fettuccine pasta topped with generous portion of shrimp and squid rings.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Engine 46 Pizza Pasta Steak has a pleasant comfortable vibe.  But perhaps, because of that and the food quality, the pricing isn't exactly student price. 

We met at Bugsy's Sports Bar & Bistro Bonifacio Global City Branch.  Located in Burgos Circle just between Sweet Bella (see previous entry) and Yakitori (see previous entry).


Just upon entry, you can view the sports bar with high tables and chairs.  As expected from a sports bar, it had several LCD screens were you can watch sports shows.


The bistro part is located on the second floor where we dined.  It had a scarlet lounge which was very cozy.  There is a clear glass window that over looks over the first floor.  Unlike below, it only has one LCD TV screen.

Calamari (185 php)

The Calamari were huge.  They had a nice thin crunchy coating and the squid were soft and easy to chew.  It goes well with their marinara sauce.

Mozzarella Sticks (195 php)

I've always loved Mozzarella Sticks.  Bugsy's version were jumbo sized.  It was oozing with mozzarella.  It was so deliciously cheesy!  It has the same marinara sauce as the Calamari.

Chicken Corleone (250 php)

The Chicken Corleone is a pan fried breaded chicken breast filled with three kinds of cheese: blue cheese, mozzarella and cheddar cheese.  It is served with mashed potatoes.  The chicken was very tender and tasty perhaps because it was locked in with all those cheese.

Dessert

Bugsy's Chocolate Lava Cake (145 php)

The Bugsy's Chocolate Lava Cake  is a bitter sweet chocolate lava cake topped with whip cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup.  The warm chocolate filling was a bit sweeter but just right when eaten with the rest.

♥ Mushroom Chicken Pesto (35 php)

The Mushroom Chicken Pesto Mozzarella Cheese Sticks were served hot.  It was soft and chewy exploding with a dominant zesty cheese flavor and a hint of pesto.  With or without the dip,
it was good!

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Johnny Steams steamed burgers are a must try!  Aside from being more succulent, its healthier too.  We, Tsinoy Foodies, are very satisfied with the pricing of all the burgers.  The size of the burger and the ingredients therein are satisfying.  The mozzarella cheese sticks are also good.  However, the price is a bit on the high side.
