Chairman Wangs Prime Beef Noodle House: Worth Going Far South (Molito Lifestyle Complex Alabang)
PNR Alabang Station, T. Molina, Muntinlupa, 1781 Metro Manila, Philippines
Like Ramen Yushoken, my uncle suggested that we go South to try Chairman Wangs Prime Beef Noodle House.
So we dedicated a day to go from Manila to Molito Lifestyle Complex in Alabang. Chairman Wangs was not yet open when we dined at Ramen Yushoken and Le Petite Cheri. Now, the whole complex is filled with dining establishments.
It has an ancient Chinese civilization interior. It has lanterns dangling for lights. And, the walls are the most interesting part for me. The tall wooden chairs are cool too.
There's a window by the entrance showing that they simultaneously make hand-pulled noodles.
Food
Dry Noodles
As soon as we opened the menu, we knew that Chairman Wangs is related to Kanzhu Hand-Pulled Noodles. We ordered same items we've tried before and other new items out of curiosity. When the the Chairman's Braised Beef Dry Noodles was served, we already knew what to expect. The price difference was for the superior food quality and larger serving size. The texture of th noodles is so good. It was firm and chewy - just the way I love it.
Noodle Soup
The Chairman's Prime Beef Noodle Soup is one of the best Chinese noodle soup I've ever encountered.
Best quality in terms of broth, noodles and beef. What's there not to like.
The Chairman's Braised Beef Noodle Soup is actually not far below the Chairman's Prime Beef Noodle Soup. But, the rich milky broth is far more savory and flavorful than the same kind I've tried at Kanzhu.
The Braised Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup is lighter in terms of broth. It brings out the taste of soft tendon so we enjoyed this.
I ordered the Lamb Dumpling Noodle Soup because I didn't try this at Kanzhu. The family has tried Kanzhus version and says this is way better. The texture of the dumplings, better duck meat filing and the broth sets the differene.
The Pork Chive and Dumpling Noodle Soup is pretty good. But, I prefer the Lamb Dumpling Noodle Soup.
Dessert
The family was so excited for dessert. We wanted to order so many but we ended up with the Chilled Coconut Milk Soup with Sago and Fresh Fruits as the rest were not available.
We all loved the presentation. Taste-wise we were all pleasantly surprised at how refreshingly delicious this could be. This is so simple yet really good and quite healthy too.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Chairman Wangs Prime Beef Noodle House is the only Chinese noodle soup house worth going south for. But, for premium quality it is a bit pricey.

My mom has this habit of calling me whenever she is pleased with something. So one time, she called me and this is how it went: (in semi-Chinese so I translated it)
Mom: You have to try this Chilled Green Tea Taho at Kanzhu Hand-Pulled Noodles!
Me: Oh where is that?
Mom: Here in San Juan.
Me: I don't how you ended up there but I have no intention of going to San Juan (we live in Manila!) for some dessert. Please just bring one for take home.
Mom: Of course, we can't bring it home. It's so good! Yum yum yum!
Me: Okay mom. Anything else?
Mom: No, that's all good bye.
So when my friends and I were strolling SM Manila for lunch, I insisted that we try Kanzhu Hand-Pulled Noodles.
It's a very spacious place with large wooden tables with matching wooden benches. They also had a fast WiFi and a nice Chinese playlist.
Food
Noodle Soup
The Braised Beef Noodle Soup is delicious! The braised beef was fragrant and tender which goes really well with the broth. Indeed, you can tell from the texture that their noodles are freshly-made and hand-pulled. I've always preferred hand-pulled noodles which is probably why I used to frequent Mey Lin for their Hot and Sour Noodle Soup. Well, "used to" because when they expanded to various malls, their quality became inconsistent to my disappointment so I never came back.
The Sliced Beef Noodle Soup is has milder broth and a bit tougher meat despite the thin slice.
If you like spicy dishes, you can add some chili oil that's available on the table.
The Mixed Seafood Noodle Soup is quite tasty and generous in terms of toppings. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this since the fish fillet tasted slightly sour. I think they used an old stock. =( I didn't bother to complain because we were in a rush since it's only a short lunch break. On the bright side, I didn't encounter any stomach-ache. But still, the sourness really messed up the great tasting broth and spoiled the experience.
Dessert
Finally, my real agenda for that lunch visit is the Chilled Green Tea Taho. I wished they didn't serve it with the syrup and sago. It was overpowering the Chilled Green Tea Taho. I was literally scooping out the sago just so I can enjoy the delicious taho itself. I went home a bit disappointed then my mom told me that it was served separately during her visit so she didn't even put some. I'll probably request that on my subsequent visits.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
If you're looking an affordable hot noodle soup, Kanzhu Hand-Pulled Noodles is a great choice. Their pricing fits the budget right. The service is also very good! The staffs are very courteous and friendly.

My mom grew up loving the Maki Mi of Mañosa in Ongpin. So when we heard that there is Mañosa Noodles, Seafood & Chops at RCBC Plaza in the corner of Sen Gil Puyat and Ayala in Makati, we decided to dine there to relive her childhood memories.
Mañosa is one of the oldest authentic Chinese restaurants. It was first established in 1940's!
The place had yellow lighting. The walls had pictures of the old Binondo. The interior gives a rustic and native Filipino-Chinese feel to it.
Food
Soup
My brother ordered the Maki which is only broth and starched beef strips without noodles.
Everyone was so excited I guess that we ordered a Maki Mi for each of us. The serving is generous so it overwhelmed us. We could probably finish it if it was our only order but since it wasn't, we should've at last shared this. >.< The Maki Mi was good though. The broth was thick, rich and slimy just the way its supposed to be. The starched beef strips was savory and tender. The noodles is your typical Chinese egg noodles.
Seafood
Don't let its confusing marbled appearance fool you. This is one damn good Oyster Cake!
Pork
The Pata Tim is a Filipino Chinese fusion braised pork leg dish. This is our family favorite. Despite being health-conscious, all of us easily succumb to the flavorful yet sinful pork skin and oh-so-tender braised pork meat. We also ate the vegetables to lessen the guilt. =p
Noodles
Cha means "stir-fry" and Mi means "noodles" in Chinese. I like their unique version which is soaked in Maki sauce because I'm not fond of dry noodles in the first place. This had thick egg noodles and loads of meat strips and vegetables.
Rice
The only let down for the night was the Kiampong. It tasted odd!
We love Machang! In fact, we always have a stock at home in case we're to lazy to cook, we just boil one. Mañosa's version was simple with pork chunks that's quite meaty and not too fatty. It was good but I'd prefer a Machang with black mushrooms.
Drinks
The Black Gulaman is not only cheap but it was very refreshing! Everyone ordered a glass of this. This had vanilla essence, shaved ice, sugar and gulaman cubes.
I ordered an extra Mango Black Gulaman because I've never tried one before. I super loved this tantalizing glass of sweet mango puree with black gulaman cubes!
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
The legendary fame for affordably priced authentic Chinese dishes of Mañosa Noodles, Seafood & Chops continuous and I bet it will go on for a very long time. Their Maki Mi is as good as it has always been. Don't miss out on it.

Qian Do Lami Hand Pulled Noodles recently opened along the busy streets of Malate in addition to the clubs, hotels, casinos and other restaurants. While there are many establishments to dine in, we were very eager to try Qian Do Lami Hand Pulled Noodles because there is hardly any restaurant in the area that serves fresh hand pulled noodles.
The interiors are simple like a typical downtown noodle house. It made me feel as if I was in Chinatown when this is located in the middle of Malate. It had a orange and white color scheme. It looked clean and cozy despite its simplistic appearance. Despite the lack of air-conditioning, it was well ventilated. There were only around 10 tables. Every orange table has six matching orange chairs each. The tables are equipped with chopsticks, sauces, napkins and even the menu.
I have observed that their customers are from all walks of life. Some customers are foreigners while the others are locals who are even wearing their comfortable homey clothes.

The Braised Beef Lami was a satisfying bowlful of braised beef chunks, vegetables, hand pulled noodles and green onions. The noodles are firm and chewy. The broth tasted a bit sweet and savory from the braised beef with hints of herb and spices. Every lami order also comes with a choice of drinks: Coffee, Milk Tea or Ice Tea. Too bad the Milk Tea was not available during our visit so I had to settle with Iced Tea.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Qian Do Lami Hand Pulled Noodles is a good place to go for a satisfying quality meal. The meals they offer are really cheap that it can even compete with the prices of fast food chains. If ever we end up in this side of the area, we will definitely drop by here again to try out their other offerings. I'm looking forward to trying more of their Donbei Dumplings. This is indeed a good find for us.
