Coffee Prince: Coffee, Teas and Frappe in Malate (Closed)

Although it looks like I only spend my days eating and blogging about food, I am a hopeless romantic loves to watch Korean dramas.  One of my favorites is "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince".  The coffee shop in that drama is also called "Coffee Prince".  So when we saw this restaurant in Malate, we all had an impression that it is a new Korean influenced coffee shop and restaurant which could be as impressive as the nearby Noriter and our favorite Holly's Coffee.

There were adequate parking spaces so parking was a breeze.

As we entered, we headed over the counter to order.  There was a Korean couple ahead of us having a hard time ordering because the staff couldn't speak in English.  During my turn, the male staff went in and was substituted by a female cashier.  She did not look to happy to serve but she took our orders, gave me my wifi pass and a buzzer anyway.

The store occupied two floors.  It was fully air conditioned and cozy.  The wifi was a bit slow but workable.

Drinks
It took longer than usual before our buzzer gave us a signal to pick up our drinks.

Frappe Prince
oreo frappe
Oreo Frappe 12 oz (125 php)
The Oreo Frappe is a sweet blend of oreo shake with whipped cream on top.  Although I love oreo, I surrendered to the sweetness level of this drink.

royal mint tea prince frappe
Royal Honey Mint Tea 12 oz (115 php) and Prince Frappe 12 oz (125 php)
The Prince Frappe which I assumed is their speciality because of the name was an utter dissappointment.  It was a sweetened version of Starbuck's frappucino.

Royal Teas
The Royal Honey Mint Tea had bearable sweetness and it had a nice taste of tea with a hint of mint.  Compare to the frappes, I'd settle for their Royal Tea variants any time.

royal fruit tea
Royal Fruit Tea (115 php)
The Royal Fruit Tea had a bit of a citrus taste.  It was quite refreshing.  But, it is a bit sweet too.

royal ginseng tea
♥ Royal Ginseng Tea (115 php)
The Royal Ginseng Tea is hands down the best beverage we've tried at Coffee Prince.  The taste was pleasant.  It didn't have the weird taste of ginseng.  In fact, it was quite addictive.  The sweetness is also just right.  If ever I visit again, I'll be ordering this again for sure.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Coffee Prince has a nice cozy ambiance, with free wifi and open until midnight which makes it an ideal place to study and hang out.  However, it was a bit disappointing that their drinks are a hit or miss.  For their pricing, we're expecting some consistency in quality.  If it wants to be as competitive as other coffee places in the area, it has needs to do something to be better.
