Deep Fried Chinese Tikoy Lumpia Rolls (Turon) Recipe

The Chinese New Year celebration is quite long and you must have bought or received more than one Chinese Tikoy.  So in addition to our Chinese Tikoy with Egg Recipe (see previous entry), let us share with you another alternative way of cooking your Chinese Tikoy.



Deep Fried Chinese Tikoy Lumpia Rolls (Turon) Recipe

Ingredients:
1 Whole Large Chinese Tikoy 
12 Sheets of Lumpia Wrapper
2 Cups Cooking Oil for frying
1 teaspoon of Cornstarch
1/2 cup of Brown Sugar


Instructions:


Step 1: Cut the Chinese Tikoy into 2-inch by 1/2-inch sticks


Step 2: Place 1 teaspoon of Cornstarch into 2 teaspoons of water (1:2 ratio always)


Step 3: Wrap each Chinese Tikoy sticks with the one sheet of Lumpia Wrapper, fold both sides and seal with diluted cornstarch mixture


Step 4: Heat pan with cooking oil and wait until oil is almost at the smoking point


Step 5: Deep fry your Chinese Tikoy Lumpia Rolls until golden brown 


Step 6: Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar into the oil until it caramelizes and dip the Chinese Tikoy Lumpia Rolls


Step 7: Place it into a strainer and let it cool slightly
