Bar B Skew Southeast Asian Inspired Street Food: Awesome Auto-Rotating Charcoal Grilling Experience (closed)
As much as I want to tap into the dining places in the Tomas Morato area, I just couldn't make myself go all the way there just to dine and then travel back home again. But when I found out about the unique experience Bar B Skew has to offer, I'm the one who even invited my friends at The Foodies Circle to go there.
Bar B Skew right at the center of the busy brightly-lit-especially-at-night area of Tomas Morato cor. Timog. It's very easy to find with adequate with parking spaces.
Even from the outside, their custom made auto-rotating charcoal grilling tables makes them distinctively noticeable. You can enjoy al fresco outside or inside with their efficient ventilation system.
They have a chiller with a wide array of Street Food. For those are health and hygiene conscious like me, I'm sure you'll understand how happy I was to glance at the selections nicely and neatly placed in a single chiller for my convenience. My friends and I got our plates and filled it up with our choice of street food skewers.
They also adopt self-service when it comes to water, napkins, brushes and basting sauces.
We tried all the basting sauces but we found it difficult to distinguish one from another since we were using the same brush. I think I loved the Sweet & Spicy the most.
As soon as we were seated, the table top was filled with hot charcoal and the machine was turned on to auto-rotate.
We filled it up with everything we got. Although the selections vary per day, we're pretty much happy with what was offered. For our main course, we had Chicken Barbecue, Pork Barbecue,♥ Cream Dory Fillet, ♥ Chicken Wings, Chicken Intestine (Isaw), Chicken Blood (Betamax), Chicken Gizzard (Baticolon), Chicken Liver (Atay), Kikiam, Hotdogs, Cheesedogs and ♥ Corn.
I was actually my first time to try the Chicken Blood (Betamax). I've never had the guts to try it from street vendors due to cleanliness issues so it was nice to finally get the chance. It was tasteless and not worth the guilt in my honest opinion.
I think I ate a lot of the Cream Dory Fillet, Chicken Intestine (Isaw), Chicken Gizzard (Baticolon) and Chicken Liver (Atay). The Cream Dory Fillet is everyone's favorite. Grilling the Kikiam was very tricky. We tend to overcook that one.
For dessert skewers, we had the Chocolate Marshmallows and Bananas and Pineapple. These are easily cooked so better pay attention cause the bananas loosen up and the Chocolate Marshmallows can get very gooey.
Overall, the group consumed 64 sticks in total! We didn't realize how much we've had because we were having so much fun, basting and chatting.
Limited Time Offer Buffet
For a limited time only, Bar B Skew is offering the Bar-B-Skew Buffet with unlimited skewers plus cooked dishes too at a very affordable rate of 299 php for lunch, 349 php for weekday dinner and 399 php weekend dinner.
Mind you the cooked dishes are also good!
We all loved the Chinese Fried Chicken.
But, the Double Fried Chicken is equally delightful.
Update May 2014: Unfortunately, this establishment has been short-lived and has now closed.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Bar B Skew offers an awesome auto-rotating charcoal grilling experience you surely can't miss! I advise you to go over there as soon as you can and bring lots of company for a fun and enjoyable time. They have serve drinks too at an affordable price. In fact, I'm planning to bring my drinking buddies (they drink I eat) here sometime in the future. I'm sure they'll love it!

Food options at Bonifacio Global City has gotten even got wider with the coming of Forum South Global filled with unique food concepts such as Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne.
Located on the first floor, don't miss its red and black sign. It's window display allows you to peek into its grand and cozy ambiance.
Although it gives a sophisticated feel, it is filled with booths making it a great hang out for groups. Just like a hotel lobby, they don't adopt a dress code policy so people of all ages can just come with their most comfortable attire.
The highlight of Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne is their 7-course wagyu degustation. As you are seated in this special area, Chef Jay Rollan will personally prepare your dishes.
Each table has plates and utensils already set up.
Food
Upon taking our orders, we were provided their complimentary bread and herb butter.
Appetizers and Salads
The Spicy Caesar Salad is grilled Cajun chicken, Parmesan crispy, quail egg, bacon, romaine and mixed greens. We really loved the spicy twist of the dressing and the cajun chicken was impressive as well.
Soups
We all fancied the rich and creamy Brocolli Soup. Even the boys who are not fond of green vegetables took each sip with delight.
Too bad I couldn't say the same for the Wild Mushroom Soup. Although it is composed of four kinds of wild mushrooms and dashed with a hint of truffle oil, we found its taste and texture too light to be appreciated.
Pasta
The Bell Pepper Pomodoro is classic Italian pasta in Seven pomodoro sauce, roasted bell peppers, basil pesto, tomatoes, queso blanco, parmigiano regiano, and Italian sausages. This is my kind of pasta. I just loved the red tangy fresh taste of tomato sauce. The bold meaty taste of the Italian sausage also stood out and enhanced the flavor.
Seafood
The Potato-Crusted Seabass
is Chillean seabass with truffle cream, leek fondue and red wine sauce. This was heavily praised during our meal! The price may be hefty but this is definitely heavenly. We loved the flakiness and the juiciness of the seabass as well as the symphony of flavors from everything beneath.
Beef and Lamb
The Hanger Steak was grilled perfectly at medium. Every bite into its tender and succulent meat was a pleasure for us all.
Dessert
Never ever leave Seven on 7th Bistro Moderne without ending your meal with any of their dessert! The French Beignet is a classic french doughnut sprinkled with powdered sugar. Each bite delivers a light and crisp sensation followed by toothsome chewiness. You can have some fun dipping it into the 3 kinds of sauces: Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, and Mango. I loved Mango the most.
The Chocolat Verrine is a multi-layered chocolate masterpiece. It has moist devil's food cake, chocolate mousse, almond meringue and vanilla cremeux topped with orange and wafer. Each spoonful is a chocolate-y bliss for me.
Last but certainly not the least is the White Chocolate Panna Cotta with Basil Cremeux. It is white chocolate and basil panna cotta verrine topped with almond streusel, strawberry coulis and fresh kiwi and mango. This cup exudes not only utmost beauty in terms of presentation but it also englamours tantalizing sophistication in terms of flavors.

Belonging in a family of book worms and coffee affecionados, hanging out at coffee shops for after-dinner drinks or a time of solitude has become a habit and I've established some loyalty with my classic orders. But, although I'm very satisfied with my classic favorites Mocha Javakula and Java Jelly at Seattle's Best Coffee, I've always looked forward for the Christmas season because of their Christmas Drinks.
Christmas Drinks (Ice-blended S 165 php/M 175 php/ L 185 php | Hot S 160 php/M 170 php/L 180 php)
SBC's Eggnog Frost is white chocolate mocha perfectly combined with eggnog and cinnamon vanilla flavors topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with silver candy beads. Whether it's Ice-Blended or Hot, this drink is fun to drink with its fun cherry twist. I really enjoyed this because it's out of the ordinary.
SBC's Cookies & Mint is an all-time favorite and a mainstay with a track record of five Christmas seasons in a row at Seattle's Best Coffee. It is classic mocha with a tempting mix of Oreo cookies and mint syrup covered with whipped cream and crushed Oreo cookies. This is still my favorite among the Christmas Drinks. I'll keep coming back for this as much as I can.
Dream Journal 2014
The Dream Journal 2014 is available with four colors: purple, brown, charcoal gray and peach.
I'm very happy with my Purple Dream Journal 2014. =) Can't wait to use it for my notes next year.
It's really cool because it's more than the usual journal with a calendar, it comes with a CD too.
And, for a coffee lover, it comes with a twin coaster. While couples may find it sweet, singles like me can use it with their drinks and just water perhaps? XD
It has an expandable calendar planner which is cool so I can plot out my assignments and see them as a glance.
I love the heart-shapes bookmark.
But, my favorite part of the Dream Journal 2014 is these coupons with freebies worth 3,000 php. Some of them requires no purchases too.
It also has cute stationary and stickers which makes it very very cool.
So what are you waiting for? Better start collecting your stickers now.

Eggnog Frost Ice-Blended and Eggnog Frost Hot
SBC's Eggnog Frost is white chocolate mocha perfectly combined with eggnog and cinnamon vanilla flavors topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with silver candy beads. Whether it's Ice-Blended or Hot, this drink is fun to drink with its fun cherry twist. I really enjoyed this because it's out of the ordinary.
Gingerbest Ice-Blended and Gingerbest Hot
SBC’s Gingerbest is white chocolate mocha infused with gingerbread syrup, garnished with whipped cream, topped with Christmas tree candy sprinkles and gingerbread candy man. If you love Cookie Butter and joined the craze, you'll surely love the Gingerbest! I find the sweetness stronger for the Hot version so I'd stick with the Ice-Blended for this drink.
Roasted Hazelnut Ice-Blended and Roasted Hazelnut Hot
SBC's Roasted Hazelnut is classic mocha harmoniously mixed with roasted hazelnut and coffee syrups topped with a cloud of whipped cream, crushed hazelnuts. The taste of roasted hazelnut is so evident from just one sip. I really liked that. However, I find this to be the most usual among the Christmas Drinks.

My mom grew up loving the Maki Mi of Mañosa in Ongpin. So when we heard that there is Mañosa Noodles, Seafood & Chops at RCBC Plaza in the corner of Sen Gil Puyat and Ayala in Makati, we decided to dine there to relive her childhood memories.
Mañosa is one of the oldest authentic Chinese restaurants. It was first established in 1940's!
The place had yellow lighting. The walls had pictures of the old Binondo. The interior gives a rustic and native Filipino-Chinese feel to it.
Food
Soup
My brother ordered the Maki which is only broth and starched beef strips without noodles.
Everyone was so excited I guess that we ordered a Maki Mi for each of us. The serving is generous so it overwhelmed us. We could probably finish it if it was our only order but since it wasn't, we should've at last shared this. >.< The Maki Mi was good though. The broth was thick, rich and slimy just the way its supposed to be. The starched beef strips was savory and tender. The noodles is your typical Chinese egg noodles.
Seafood
Don't let its confusing marbled appearance fool you. This is one damn good Oyster Cake!
Pork
The Pata Tim is a Filipino Chinese fusion braised pork leg dish. This is our family favorite. Despite being health-conscious, all of us easily succumb to the flavorful yet sinful pork skin and oh-so-tender braised pork meat. We also ate the vegetables to lessen the guilt. =p
Noodles
Cha means "stir-fry" and Mi means "noodles" in Chinese. I like their unique version which is soaked in Maki sauce because I'm not fond of dry noodles in the first place. This had thick egg noodles and loads of meat strips and vegetables.
Rice
The only let down for the night was the Kiampong. It tasted odd!
We love Machang! In fact, we always have a stock at home in case we're to lazy to cook, we just boil one. Mañosa's version was simple with pork chunks that's quite meaty and not too fatty. It was good but I'd prefer a Machang with black mushrooms.
Drinks
The Black Gulaman is not only cheap but it was very refreshing! Everyone ordered a glass of this. This had vanilla essence, shaved ice, sugar and gulaman cubes.
I ordered an extra Mango Black Gulaman because I've never tried one before. I super loved this tantalizing glass of sweet mango puree with black gulaman cubes!
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
The legendary fame for affordably priced authentic Chinese dishes of Mañosa Noodles, Seafood & Chops continuous and I bet it will go on for a very long time. Their Maki Mi is as good as it has always been. Don't miss out on it.
