After my first visit at Village Tavern (see previous post), we've come back to try their new offerings as it celebrates its first year anniversary.  Since I've already share its luxurious and cozy ambiance, I hope you don't mind if I go straight to their delectable dishes.

♥ Crispy Clam with Spicy Lemon Dip (375 php)

The Crispy Clam with Spicy Lemon Dip is a must try for those who love fried nibblers.  Each clam is perfectly coated in batter and enjoyably chewy and tasty.  I just love how the spicy lemon dip is able to perk it up to another level too.  This is also served with a small plate of salad.  The serving size is suggested for sharing.

Roasted Bone Marrow (295 php)

The Roasted Bone Marrow is served with salt, sourdough, parsley and apple cider vinegar dip.  Unfortunately, all the components when eaten together with the bone marrow was still too plain for my taste buds.


Salads

♥ Fully Loaded Romaine Heart (425 php)

The Fully Loaded Romaine Heart is a delicious salad with slices of bacon strips, rd onions, tomatoes, bleu cheese chunks and bleu cheese dressing.  As a fan of bleu cheese, I am totally captivated by this salad.  The bleu cheese dressing and the bacon creates a powerful flavorful balance.


Tavern Specialties

♥ Lamb Rack (675 php)

I liked how the Lamb Rack was cooked emanating with a fragrant hint of rosemary.  It was tender with a clean meaty taste.  It was laid on a bed of smooth mashed potatoes mixed with green peas and mint.



Fish

Cod Fish (525 php)

The Cod Fish is a pan seared Atlantic cod with Spanish chorizo, caramelized garlic and onions and salted potato slices.  The mixture of flavors is superb.  However, the cod is a bit dry.  Since it's pan seared, I expected the middle part to be a bit undercooked so the fish meat would be soft and moist.


Steakhouse Steaks

Tomahawk 35 oz (2,895 php)

The Tomahawk is not new but we wanted to see the size of it for ourselves.  It is big but the taste is no different from the smaller portion of the Angus Beef Steak we tried before.

Frozen Lime Souffle (295 php)

The Frozen Lime Souffle is beautifully garnished with candied lime and almond powder.

I was expecting a souffle to be something between cake-like and custard-like but instead, the Frozen Lime Souffle had a frozen whipped cream texture and lime sorbet at the bottom.  The cool citrus concept is a good but it felt short in delivering impact to our senses.

Tip: They also have the Wednesday Night Out which features half off all wines by the glass as well as all cocktails and liquors. 

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
It's definitely a good move for Village Tavern to introduce new products.  I look forward to trying more of their offering in the future.  It's delicious dishes and cozy and elegant ambiance makes every meal a pleasurable one. 

The Village Tavern is another restaurant belonging to the Bistro Group.  Whatever visualization you have of a tavern, I'm sure the Village Tavern is much more sophisticate and extravagant than that.  It has beautiful chandeliers, a luxurious bar, an extensive wine collection, velvet lofts and well cushioned leatherette seats.  


The walls are beautifully painted and the booths offer privacy perfect for any meeting.  Other than for food, our group intnded our visit to be a dinner meeting for our first ever out-of-town trip.  We also have not seen each other for more than a month so we were all laid back and chatting the night away due to the cozy atmosphere of Village Tavern.

♥ Sesame Teriyaki Chicken Wings (225 php)

We started of with the Sesame Teriyaki Chicken Wings.  It reminds me of buffalo wings.  But, this is better because it has some sweetness from the teriyaki sauce and fragrant sesame flavor.

♥ Homemade Jalapeno Poppers (290 php)

I love the Homemade Jalapeno Poppers.  It had a perfect crunchy breaded-crust filled with cheese and spicy and tangy jalapenos.  It gets better when dipped in the sauce too.

Pizzas

Black Pizza (395 php)

The Black Pizza has squid in on its though for coloring.  It is topped with parmesan, gruyere, mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions.  Except for the edges, I could hardly taste the squid ink.  But, its still a nice experience since I've never eaten a Black Pizza before.

♥ Forest Pizza (475 php)

The Forest Pizza is a sensational pizza to remember.  It has asiago cream, wild mushrooms, walnuts, mozzarella, parmesan cheese and truffle oil.  This pizza is full of delightful scents and flavors that will surely delight ones tastebuds.

Burgers & Sandwiches

Cowboy Burger (595 php)

The Cowboy Burger has a thick beef patty, apple-wood smoked bacons, oozing cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and barbecue sauce.  This is a wholesome burger that's sweet and meaty.  I also loved the sweet potato fries that's served with it.

Steak House

♥ Black Angus Beef Steak

• Marinated Flank Steak 8 oz (895 php)
• Ribeye 8 oz (1,395 php)
• Fillet Mignon 8 oz (1,450 php)
• Ribeye 12 oz (1,950 php)
• New York Strip 12 oz (1,995 php)

Their Black Angus Beef Steak is aged, hand-cut and grilled to the perfect temperature which make it tender and succelent.  Although I prefer my steak medium and this was cooked well-done, I was still able to appreciate the flavors and juices from the Black Angus Beef Steak.  

If you haven't tried this or want to try it again, now is the best time to avail because there is an ongoing promo called "The Great Steakout" which offers their steaks at 40% OFF from October 19, 2012 onwards, Fridays to Sundays, until supplies last.

♥ Texas Baby Back Ribs (P650-half)

The Texas Baby Back Ribs is unlike the usual because it has a cola and chiptotle glaze.  It has this slight taste of caramel and pleasant tinge of acidity.  The meat is also soft and easy to eat.  

Homemade Desserts

Very Best Carrot Cake (345 php)

The Very Best Carrot Cake is a huge piece of carrot cake drenched in sweet cream cheese sauce.  The carrot cake itself is moist and tasty on its own.  Together with the sauce, it is a great meal-ender that is best shared among your companions.

Village Tavern is a great place for good American Dishes.  They have their own special way with their dishes that makes them worth the try even if the price is quite expensive.  The ambiance is superb so its impressive for any gatherings.
