We've been wanting to visit Latitude at Traders Hotel since passed by it when we tried Kitsho. Traders Hotel is part of the Shangrila Group so we trust that their buffet would not disappoint even though its buffet price is more affordable than other hotels.
Latitude's buffet area is in the middle so its quite accessible regardless of where you are seated. It has a beautiful circular arrangement enhanced by warn yellow lighting and its striped motif.
Although the buffet is limited in selection, the items are very organized as they are arranged by sections.
Our visit was on a Sunday evening and the place was packed with diners. They have different themes per dining area and this booth type is only one of them.
Food
Appetizer
Here's every item on the appetizer section. There's Soy Marinated Tofu, Vegetable Terrine, Red Beet Salad, Pasta and Seafood Salad.
Thy also have a salad bar section where you can make your own salad. They have an extensive choice of ingredients.
Their cheese section has four types of cheese: Blue Cheese, Brie, Cheddar and Emmental.
There is also a pastry section with three types of bread. I chose multi-grain because its the healthy option.

This is the main course. All the items were pretty good. But, I was disappointed with the mashed potato because it taste like the instant ones.
We loved this dish because it has a generous amount of button mushroom which we are fond of.

| ♥Roast Beef |
The Roast Beef is savory and tender. It was also very succulent. It's good with or without their mushroom sauce. I also got to try the ♥Roast Lamb Leg which had a nice clean taste and perfect texture.

The ♥Creme Brulee is hands down one of the best I've ever tasted. They actually ran out of it by the time I headed for the dessert station so I approached our server to check if there was more available in the kitchen. Good thing there was a few cups left. =D I am however saddened that I was not able to try the Cherry Panacotta which my mom was raving about. I was waiting for a refill but it never came.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
For its price range, Latitude is a very worthy buffet. The offerings are not as many as those charging a higher price but they are already fulfilling in terms of taste, variations and quantity. We all reached our limits that night and we were all happy with the food. Although not belonging to the finest class of hotels, its quite impressive that Latitude is a good competitor against those which are supposedly beyond its reach.
Tip: They serve a complimentary cup of coffee.

Japanese cuisine is one of the most loved in the world. Thus, whether it is with friends or family, I usually end up exploring more into the Japanese food culture.
Last week, I got to try Kitsho Restaurant and Sake Bar at Trader's Hotel Manila. It has a beautiful artificial Cherry blossom tree that brings you happiness when you see it bloom during spring time in Japan. I believe that is a perfect representation of "Kitsho" which means happiness.
Kitsho Restaurant and Sake Bar has a serene and harmonious ambiance with its traditional and contemporary Japanese zen interiors. It has a cozy sake bar and elegant dining areas. It is headed by Executive Chef Masahiro Mizumoto who trained in Fukuoka, Japan. Aside from his 27 years of experience, he is also licensed to prepare the Fugu (pufferfish). It is a licensed that requires at least five years of studying to acquire. (the length of studying period is almost similar to studying medicine huh?) If you want to order it, please reserve it in advance because they have to ship it from Japan.
The set up is awfully familiar to me but I can't remember where.

It was my first time to try the Kaibashira Butter Shoyuyaki Uni Sauce. It was jumbo scallops covered in a uni sauce. It was my favorite among all the dishes we tried.

| Buta Kakuni (350 php) |
The Buta Kakuni is Japanese braised pork belly topped with a small amount of karashi (Japanese mustard) and shiraga negi (Japanese Green Onions). Growing up with a health-conscious upbringing, I am not a fan of this dish. But, I enjoyed Chef Mizuto's Buta Kakuni because the pork was succulent and the karashi and shiraga negi was a perfect contrast from the oiliness.

Before proceeding to the dessert, we had the Dobon Mushi. It was my first time to try this classic Japanese soup. It was served in a traditional Japanese tea pot with a slice of lemon on top of it. We were instructed to squeeze the lemon and enjoy. It was a clear light dashi water enhanced by the chicken, fish, mushroom and shrimp contained therein. I loved this!

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Kitsho Restaurant and Sake Bar offers the Quality Japanese dishes with the freshest and finest ingredients. The price you pay is justified not just by the ingredients but also with the diligence they put in the food preparation. They also have affordable bento boxes available.
