It is part of Filipino culture to make a stop from churches and religious shrines. Located on the way to the National Shrine of Mount Samat is Ima Flora's Pamangan.
Ima Flora's Pamangan is a huge eatery that offers an unbelieavably affordable buffet for 200 php and ala carte budget meals ranging from 70 php to 400 php.
The dishes it serves are popular Filipino home dishes.
It offers a refreshing wooden cabin ambiance.
Buffet (200 php)
We opted for the buffet because it is a steal deal! Look at all the dish options for only 200 php!
These are replenished quite often.
Among the dishes I enjoyed the most are: ♥ Crispy Talangka, ♥ Langka, ♥ Green Mango Salad, and ♥ Sweetened Cassava.
Big groups are very welcome here as it has really long tables.
You can see different kinds of people dining here from families to friends, bikers and both locals and tourists alike. Did I mention, it also offers free WiFi?
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Before or after heading of to the National Shrine of Mount Samat, make a meal stopover for Ima Flora's Pamangan. You won't regret it! It also has a pasalubong store which I found to be convenient.

Liam's Lomi House: Batangas' Best Lomi and More for Less than 100 Pesos (Lipa City Batangas)
Batangas, Batangas, Philippines
I know this sounds cliche. But really, my apprenticeship is one of the most transformative phase in my life. I have never imagined a workplace filled with kind-hearted, hard-working and jolly bunch.
Engaging in public service also made me realize how fortunate I was in life. The apprenticeship program experience alone was a big blessing for me. Yet, it got even better when I was nvited to join their summer getaway. One of my mentor is a local of Lipa City Batangas so he brought us to his favorite food place called Liam's Lomi House. Liam's has won several awards for their lomi.
It has a sign but the road side. But, you have to go in further inside the street to reach the actual establishment.
It was a simple but already modern structure with many seating capacity. There's a lot of parking spaces too.
For such a conspicuous and humble place, I honestly didn't expect it to be full. It was not even meal hours when we dropped by as we came at around 3 pm. They adopted a pay as you order system so you have to order by the counter. The place had a high ceiling so despite lacking air-conditioning, it was cool enough for me.
There was also a barbecue stall outside with its own signage "Liam's Special BBQ" but I didn't get to try it. Because we were already about to leave when they started making preparations.
I loved the idea that we have to eat on a banana leaf because it felt more native.
Food
My mentors are so kind to treat me and my apprentice-mates. They also knew I do some food blogging so they didn't touch the food until I got a shot. Aren't they the most awesome mentors ever?
Noodles
As the name implied, their best-seller is their lomi. I was so thrilled when our Lomi Special arrived. It was a big bowl filled with lots of topping like pork meat, pork liver, fish ball and kikiam. Of course, it was very flavorful and the thick noodles has a nice firm, soft and slightly chewy texture too.
Soup
I'm a veggie lover so I was happy to hear that they ordered the Chopsuey. Their version is unconventional. It is essential the traditional chopsuey vegetable ingredients with a more soupy-base and loaded with special toppings that were similar to the Lomi Special (i.e. pork meat, pork liver, fish ball and kikiam). I don't usually appreciate the chopsuey. But, this one I loved!
Short Orders (Good for 3)
The Fried Chicken has a different cooking technique to it that makes it distinguishes it from the usual American or Filipino-style. It was well-marinated and coated in crispy starch similar to the Taiwanese chicken chops. This is definitely worth a try!
Last, but certainly not the least, is the Sisig. While I prefer the sisig without the mayonnaise, I found this one quite enticing.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
For a hearty meal with any group, Liam's Lomi House is a great stop! The best part is, is that a meal will cost you less than 100 pesos. This is one food discovery that I am very grateful for. And, the experience and the company made it even more unforgettable.

Slice N' Dice Char-Grilled Steaks: Less than 100 Pesos T-Bone Steak Meal (Avenue of the Arts Bldg Ermita)
I wanted to clear my mind off one night and decided to take a random stroll. Then, my stomach grumbled and I found myself enticed to try Slice N' Dice Char-Grilled Steaks nearby.
To be honest, I've long been curious about this because I've heard people rave about it. And, their pricing is really intrintriguing
It was a huge diner at Avenue of the Arts Building but it looked barely occupied. It was clean-looking and cool enough. The staffs are very nice and quick to assist too.
I was surprised that they also have affordable KTV rooms and they serve beer.
While waiting for my order, I took my time to tinker their condiments. They are also open to feedbacks and they market their franchising
Food
It wasn't long when I was served a hot bowl of Complimentary Mushroom Soup. It was good enough. It really had mushroom bits. It was a bit diluted but quite tasty - more on the salty side.
Steak 99ers (Rice All You Can Just Add 10 php; Iced Tea Add 39 php)
The Junior T Bone is already served with rice, buttered corn and carrots and gravy. It looked as if it was served right of the grill. The portion is pretty good for a junior and being priced at 99 php, it was a steal deal!
It was grilled medium - just the way I like it. It would have been good enough for me as it was tender. But, I found it tad too salty for my taste. In fact, this is the saltiest steak I've ever had in my life! I couldn't eat it without bathing it with gravy and gulping loads of water.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
For the price, cleanliness and service, Slice N' Dice Char-Grilled Steaks is a steal deal! I somehow which that they didn't over-seasoned their steaks in salt though. After all, they could add salt on the table as a condiment.

Ever since we were young, my mom taught us to love our kitchen. For each meal that we have at home, we would all divide the pre-meal and post-meal tasks among us. And, on most day, we enjoy doing the food preparation, cooking and cleaning. But, there are days when we're lazy or too few that the tediousness is inconvenient. On those days, we're glad there's frozen products like Fisher Farms that's easy to cook and serve.
Fisher Farms Gourmet Bangus Products are our latest discovery. The things that made us notice this brand is it's affordability, packaging and quality. Another big consideration for us is that it's fish so it's a very healthy option as opposed to most frozen processed meat products.
And, it has so many variants so it's not "nakakasawa". In fact, my medical student sister loves their variants. She is on 72-hour duties so she brings Fisher Farms products as her baon. She wakes up really early around 3 am and easily prepares the Fisher Farms products in a matter of minutes.
For the whole family I highly recommend the Fisher Farms' Gourmet Baked Rellenong Bangus and the Smoked Deboned Milkfish.
Gourmet Baked Rellenong Bangus
We opted for the baking method so it's healthy. We didn't thaw it overnight though because we got too excited. We did the normal thawing.
So here it is! So big it occupied the entire pan.
We didn't even have a platter big enough for it so we have to divide it into two. It's so yummy na "nakakaaddict talaga" because of all the ingredients. We just wished they skipped the MSG and caramel color.
Smoked Deboned Milkfish (140 php)
We also baked the Smoked Deboned Milkfish. Promise it's the best smoked bangus I've ever tried.
The flavor is really smoky and not salty unlike the rest I've tried.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
No doubt we'll buy more Fisher Farms products in the future!
Disclosure: Items were provided for taste testing purposes where I am free to express my own insights. We also previously purchased some of the items.

Hainanese Delights: Hainanese Chicken That Fits the Budget (Robinsons Place Manila)
Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
If there's something I'm not proud of... that would be my laziness. Yes! There are many times in a week that I don't feel like preparing for my meal or cleaning up my mess after. And, there are days when I can't afford to be lazy so I resort to my cheap eats favorites. One of them is Hainanese Delights.
Before Hainanese Delights came, I've always classified Hainanese Chicken as a luxurious and expensive dish. But, now I can have it as often as I want.
Food
Each table has the usual sauces.
Each order will entitle you to their complimentary hainanese chicken broth with lots of salt and MSG soup. For the price, you really can't complain.
I only order 1 item on the menu each time and that is the Hainanese Delights. If you order the whole, you have to order the rice separately.
If you order the meals, it automatically comes with two cups of their justifiably tasty (or salty) chicken or hainan rice. The rice is unlimited so you can get a refill if you want more.
If you order for take-out you'll be missing the unlimited hainan rice perk but if you're not a carbo-loader like me, two cups of rice is enough right?
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Hainanese Delights is one of the few places that offers hainanese chicken that fits the budget. In fact, I've yet to encounter one that bits its market penetrating pricing scheme. It's so affordable I bet everyone has considered trying or has tried it.
