Nena's Rose Shopping II: Hands Down The Best Chicken Inasal in Bacolod Negros Occidental

When visiting Bacolod, the first thing that comes in mind is to try the local specialty Bacolod-style Chicken Inasal. According to my local friends, the best Bacolod-style Chicken Inasal is the one served by Nena's Rose II Shopping Branch.
Yes, to my surprise, they recommended that it has to be this specific branch out of the many branches!
The fame of Bacolod-style Chicken Inasal has reached Manila. As we've shared, we've tried several brands in Manila such as Aida's Chicken, Inasal Chicken Bacolod, Bok Bok's Inasal, Bacolod Chicken Inasal.
Yet, we're still so excited since naturally, a local specialty at the place of origin is expected to offer the best experience. 
Nena's Rose II Shopping Branch offers a clean, modern and spacious dining facility. On the right side, it even has an a hand washing area equipped with more than five sinks (each with liquid hand soap dispensers).
If you want to eat like a local, you have to eat your meal using your hands. But, since I'm a foreigner, I requested for utensils.

Among the Bacolod Chicken Inasal establishments we've tried in Manila and in Bacolod, Nena's Rose II is the only one we've encountered that serves Bisaya. As we've researched, Ilonggo's refer to all native food ingrediats as "Bisaya". Thus, this s a native chicken cooked in the Bacolod-style inasal way. It is priced higher than the usual chicken but it was an addition that we would simply shoulder willingly. This is hands down the best Bacolod Chicken Inasal we've ever had.

Aside from Chicken Inasal, you can also find a lot of places serving Talaba or Oysters. You can find them in most Chicken Inasal establishments like Nena Rose or you can find it in a less fancy but more specialized place along the street side which the locals refer to as "Talabahan".

The oysters here are so cheap! For only 60 php, look at how much Talaba I got to enjoy! The size is pretty good too right?

I'm an avid fan of Bacolod chicken inasal. Whenever I am alone and on a budget, it is always my comfort food. To be honest, I've been wanting to eat at Aida's Chicken since I've read about it from famous blogs. But, it was difficult for me to coincidentally be around Makati Cinema Square area.
I haven't been to Makati Cinema Square since I was watched a movie "The Indian in the Cupboard" with relatives a very long time ago. As I was writing this, I'm surprised that I can still remember bits of the movie and my movie experience. I recall, it was my aunt who treated us. We've never heard of it before so I'm glad that I discovered it. I liked the movie although it was a more serious and dramatic than the cartoon "Toy Story".
Apart from the facade, I didn't feel any nostalgia from the place. It was really run down. I had to ask the guard where Aidas is located because it was not visible at all. All along I kept on wondering why it chose to be located there in the first place. You have to pass by cellphone and random stalls before reaching the restaurant. To my surprise, there were foreigner and family guests dining there.
That heightened my expectations despite the fairly unappealing ambience.

So here it is - Inasal Pecho. If you choose the executive meal it comes with broth soup, side dish and rice. Prior to digging in, I could already tell from the aroma and visual appeal - yellowing color, glaze and char-marks that it was going to be delicious.

The Aida's Ilonggo Express is similar to what I know as gising-gising. Perhaps, I'm biased to coconut milk based dishes so I gladly indulged this to the last bit. However, I think the price is unjustified.
I loved Aidas Chicken Inasal but I realized that chicken inasal is something I eat whenever convenient so I don't see myself going out my way to dine here again.

On a weekday lunch time, the chances of being able to search for an empty seat at the SM Manila's Food Court is like winning the lottery. I attempted to eat there once but since it was futile, I ended up in neighboring restaurant Inasal Chicken Bacolod with lots of empty tables to spare.
This is my first time to try this brand.
Ambiance is downright simplistic.

The Petso portion is okay. The flavor is too bland for me.

Bok Bok's Inasal: Budget-Friendly Authentic Illongo Meal for the Family (Kapitolyo Pasig)

The family loves to try out the different hole-in-the-wall diners in Kapitolyo. It's amazing that this former residential village has turned into a foodie haven. And, our exploration within it is so far from being accomplished as there are really so many more to try! A few weeks ago, we discovered Bok Bok's Inasal. It's the only place in Kapitolyo where you can enjoy a budget-friendly authentic Illongo meal that's great for sharing.
Bok Bok's Inasal is one of the underdogs in famous eat street of Kapitolyo probably because of has a very humble sign which you could barely notice if you're like us who goes to Kapitolyo to find a random diner that we'll find enticing. It's located along Maria Clara Street beside Cross Fit Kapitolyo. It has 3 parking slots which is a plus point for us considering how challenging finding a parking slot in Kapitolyo can be.

I really appreciated that all the dishes were served hot and freshly cooked.

Isn't this just the biggest Pecho inasal served here in the Metro? For it's this combo meal is a steal especially since it comes with BOTTOMLESS Iced Tea! Not only is the chicken meal plump and succulent, it was very fragrant and flavorful too. Among the inasal variations, have I ever shared that I love the Bacolod version the most?

During our trip to Puerto Princesa Palawan last December, we spotted the two branches of Ka Inato but never had the chance to drop by due to schedule restraints. When I heard they have opened a branch here in Metro Manila, I was eager to try and check it out.

Ka Inato in Tandang Sora Quezon City is their first branch in Luzon and they're planning to open more soon.

It's located in RMR Building behind Caltex Station. You can see their sign along Tandang Sora Avenue.
This is what the typical fast food type Ka Inato will look like. It has beautiful paintings on its white walls. It looks spacious and clean with sturdy bench type and casual dining wooden tables.

Palawan's chicken inasal is grilled with sweet kind of barbecue sauce. My friend Sumi, chose the Ka Inato Chicken. I got to taste it too. We both agreed that the skin was delicious, the taste is just right but the chicken meat was a bit dry.
I dared to try the famous Ka Inato Hot & Spicy Chicken to tease my spiciness tolerance. It had a zing like chili itself that pierces and lingers. Good thing Sumi came to my rescue and helped me with it.
The meal also comes with FREE soup which was quite flavorful. They also have an unlimited rice option for only 23 php.
Although it's chicken is their main specialty, it was the Kambak that impressed us. It was our first time to try this. The meat chunks are so tender. The flavors are exquisite with a hint of spiciness nuttiness that makes it crave worthy. The price is very reasonable too. This Kambak makes me want to "come back" for it. =D

The Leche Flan hit my sweetness preference right on the mark but I'd love it more if it was creamier.
