Potatoes are my all-time favorite vegetable because of its versatility. So I especially cleared up my schedule just to make sure I could attend the media event hosted by Potatoes USA, the national marketing organization for US potatoes, at Chef’s Table and Kitchen in Brittany Hotel, BGC last Thursday.

Chef Kalel Chan gave us a live cooking demonstration featuring two creative Potatoes USA dishes: US Potato Ramen and Mapo Tofu Potato Cheese Fries.

Of course, both of Chef Kalel's dishes were top-notch and delicious as expected from the corporate chef of the Raintree Restaurant Group who handles Chotto Matte, Saboten, Jones All Day, Friends & Family, Cha Cha's Boracay, Farmer's Table, and Izakaya Sensu. Who would have thought that you can make ramen noodles out of dehydrated US potatoes?
Following his lead, influencers did their (I only ate haha!) best to cook their own Potatoes USA dishes using dehydrated US potatoes and frozen US potatoes of various forms! As you can see there's straight-cut fries, wedges, hash brown, curly fries, etc. Another format is the fresh stock US potatoes which is available from November to March in select stores in Metro Manila and Cebu.
All forms are the same in terms of nutrients. The US frozen potatoes were quick-frozen to seal in its natural flavor and nutrients.
Moreover, every US potato processor has to undergo stringent USDA and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspection and requirements.

There are various ways of cooking US frozen potatoes. The winning dish was cooked using this Salamander Oven.
Overall, we all had a lot of fun exploring the possibilities of US potatoes as a time-saving yet nutrient-packed ingredient.
Fatburger is a US franchise that started in 1952. It’s located in 150 locations with its HQ located in
Beverly Hills.
Knowing this, I was surprised that it made its way to the foodie radar here in the Philippines.
I ordered a nice Chicken Burger spiced with Cajun. But, what caught my attention was their Chili
Cheese Fries. They use US Potatoes for their fries and offer them in two variants: fat or skinny. I chose fat fries because I was craving something thick and fluffy . I definitely made the right choice. The fries were really smooth, but still had crunch.
That’s what I love about US potatoes – crunchy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside.
The Chili Cheese Fries are surely a winner! I’ll definitely visit Fat Burger again and try their skinny
version for a different experience. I just love how US Potatoes have so many cuts to choose from
which makes it fun to consume and even cook with!

Lately, I've been experimenting with my time schedule. So after work, I tried squeezing in attending a yoga class. One day I was feeling extra energetic so I did two classes back to back: Vinayasa 1 and Rocket Yoga. And... then I ended up in the mood to try H.I.D Burgers.
If you frequently gas up at the Caltex Station along Buendia, then you've probably noticed H.I.D Burger's Makati branch. But, I don't so I recently just discovered this place.
To my surprise, H.I.D Burgers Makati branch is packed during meal hours.
The crowd is a mix bunch from couples to group of friends.
I was hungry so as soon I was able to raid a seat, I began lining up to order.
They had a tempting challenge but someone tipped me about their sort of secret menu. You can choose any burger and upgrade it to "Go Raclette" for an addition of 40 php.
And, you could also add on some Twister Fries which is also not on the menu for an addition of 45 php.

If you want the attention of the crowd, order any burger just like my H.I.D BLT Combo (155 php) and then "Go Raclette" (add 40 php). Of course, everyone was looking at it while the server poured the hot raclette on top of my burger.
For the price I didn't think that my burger would be this big and this cheesy!!!
Had I known, I would have brought some company to share with. I look around and although in groups, everyone had their own burger. I guess it's because H.I.D's burgers is very reasonable so even if you don't finish it, it's still wise to just take home the rest.
You can use their plastic gloves or like me just use knife and fork. Because just look at the size of their beef patty plus sausage plus bacon. And, they only have 1 size! This is the standard size.
And, their bacon is not the fatty small cut. It is a big, long and lean strip. There are several pieces of it too.
Hot Wings
This is first time I've encountered honey and srircha wings. Although I prefer an intense spiciness, sometimes mild to appreciate the flavor is good too. The honey was evident but I didn't feel any spiciness at all from the sriracha. It also didn't feel like chili but more of pepper. It was surprisingly good. The size was the biggest I've encountered. And, the outer coating is perfectly crunchy while the meat was juicy! I think I enjoyed this more than the burger.
Another must try is the Cheesy Bacon Wedge Fries. How can we resist a cheese and bacon combination right? Order this for sharing because again they offer generous serving!

While I'm not sure if H.I.D Burgers really stands for its transliteration of "Healthy"... but it is "Irresistibly Delicious" for a shockingly affordable price. If you want a really heavy meal without breaking the bank, you can go here. And, be sure to bring some company too because the serving size is generous!

My life has become busier. But, I have found a way to work with comfort by hanging out at coffee shops. I'm amazed that a change in environment can be a huge difference. My recent discovery is Stockwell Café + Lounge conveniently tucked at the ground floor of Cocoon Boutique Hotel in Tomas Morato.

Appetizers
For appetizers, there's the Stockwell Signature Nachos. Get this if you're yearning to munch something quick. This is also great for sharing.
My choice among the appetizers is the Sausage Platter . I'll have this sharing or no sharing.
How can you resist this Truffle Mushroom Linguine? I know I can't
Those preferring a classic pasta won't be disappointed with their Creamy Carbonara.

If you want a heavier meal, they have them too.
The Bulgogi Rice is really good! Sauce on rice is already a winner.
Look at the generous portion they have for their Stockwell’s Beef Tapa. And, the egg is perfectly runny too.
Probably a dish that didn't gain much attention is the Chicken Cordon Bleu because the chicken meat was a bit dry.
While I'm not a fan of usual pork longganisa, I really enjoyed the Chicken Longganisa because it wasn't fatty nor too sweet.
A bit of a guilt food is the Braised Pork Belly. But, some may forget about that and indulge in its fatty goodness.
Coffee
Needless to say, a must order in every visit to Stockwell Café + Lounge is a cup of coffee.
They have really skilled and well-trained baristas who can make you the best cup and make you smile with their amazing latte art.
I highly suggest that you go beyond the ordinary coffee blends and try their Alternative Brews such as Cold Brew and Cold Drip. Since they have Single Origin Coffee Beans, you can describe what you are looking for in a coffee and their barista can help you figure out what coffee beans to use.

As a coffee affecionado, I was really impressed with Stockwell Café + Lounge's coffee selections. On top of that, I also loved their Matcha and Bulgogi Rice. Did I mention that the interiors is rustic and comfortable too? Surely, a possible visit is at hand. If only this isn't far from home, I'd come here often.

In the busy and congested city of Makati, there is a one of a kind hangout place called Buendia Food by the Court (BFBTC) that combines an extensive food park with 27 food merchants and a basketball court.
I heard the basket ball court is so popular that even at the rate of 1,100 php per hour, the booking is full 3 months ahead. The basketball is open everyday from 7 pm until 12 midnight. While the food merchants operate from 5 pm- 12 mn on Mondays to Sundays. Some merchants extend their time until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
All the food merchants have different dishes to offer which include international cuisines. And, the price per meal will cost you not more than 150 php.
What I love about BFBTC aside from having a roofed and spacious dining area is that the dishes are served hot.
Doss Pares even serves their dishes on sizzling plates.
The food merchants are very creative with their menu items. Some even allows customization.
Burgers Meet Wings (BMW) even allows you to choose the color of your buns.
Frit.oohhh! offers familar favorites.
But, they also have new offerings like the Wasabe Balls.
Because the BFBTC is a refuge from a hard days' work, heavy traffic or even the strong rains, the food served is mostly comfort food that is perfect as a beer pairing.
I've previously shared about Jack's Joint.
I'm so happy to see that they participate in food parks as well.
At Joe's you can enjoy your breakfast favorites all day long.
Too bad I forgot to try the Cheesy Longga Balls. I have to be back for this because I find it intriguing.
Keso Kumpadre offers addictively good fries! But, I liked their warm, hot and gooey Cheesy Bacon Marbled Potato more.
Growing up in the province, eating kambing has been a norm. Well Korvits Grill has a whole range of kambing dishes to try!
