I've long been a fan of Chef Miko Aspiras. I just couldn't believe it when he messaged me on instagram inviting me to launch of his new cakes with Yardstick's coffee at The Workshop Bespoke Bakery located inside Le Petite Souffle in SM Mega Fashion Hall.
This is my first time to visit both Le Petite Souffle and The Workshop so I was amazed by the interiors.
The display was awesome.
Who wouldn't be enticed to buy upon seeing these right?
Everyone was gathered for the highlight of the event...
When a young genius like Chef Miko Aspiras demonstrates about his pastry, he doesn't need a spotlight to draw the crowds attention.
Everyone was eager to see his creation. Isn't his 17 Layer Chocolate Cake drool worthy? The perfect match for this is Yardstick's Non-Dairy Mocha. Believe me, the mocha is so smooth that you can't tell that it doesn't have dairy on it.
I really loved the light and subtle flavors of pistachio of the Pistachio Creme Roulade. I knew the family would appreciate it so I brought them home some one time. Indeed, they had so much praise for it. Chef Miko suggests this cake to be paired with Yardstick's Madagascar Vanilla Iced Latte.
The crowd favorite is the Basque Burnt Cheesecake. This is indeed so good. This is best when freshly baked or shall I say burnt? It doesn't taste bitter and burnt at all. The caramel isn't too sweet either. The best coffee drink for this is Yardstick's Burnt Butterscotch Iced Latte with Salted Cream. It sounds intriguing right? I want to try that on my next visit too.
So here they are: 17 Layer Chocolate Cake, Pistachio Creme Roulade and
Basque Burnt Cheesecake. Try them all out. I bet you'll find one (if not all) to be a total indulgence.
Thank you so much Chef Miko for inviting me to try this amazing desserts!

Last week, I was invited to partake in a Basic Gelato Making Class with Chef Miko Aspiras. This is part of the debut of Carte D'Or in the Philippines.
We're so lucky that UK's Number 1 Premium Ice Cream Brand Carte D'Or will be available in the Philippines by May 23, 2017. Although it has a dominant presence in Europe such as in Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, and Turkey, we are the very first country to have it in the Southeast Asian region.
So what distinguishes Carte D'Or from other brands?
According to Carte D’Or Brand Manager Earl Keh, "Carte D’Or Gelato was crafted with the idea of offering something that’s more than just ice cream. We take pride in sourcing from only the best, no matter where it takes us: from Australian butter to pistachios harvested from South Australia and California; from Belgian chocolate to hazelnuts grown in Turkey...
Each pint of Carte D’Or Gelato is crafted using real cream from Australia. Using real cream not only gives gelato its creamier texture but also its pure, clean taste."
So you see, the process of making a gelato is basic. But, it is the ingredients that they use that gives it raises its above the rest.
As you can see, it has a rich, creamy and smooth texture.
Then, mixed with the finest ingredients.
Watch the video on how we did it!
Carte D’Or Gelato will launch with four flavors: Pistachio, Salted Caramel, Double Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Hazelnut.
Love how bittersweet the Double Chocolate is. But, it is still the Pistachio that won my heart.

Scout's Honor Craft Cookie Shop: Hole in the Wall Series Part 6 (Century Mall Makati)
Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
We usually have cookies for a mid-afternoon snack. But cookies as enticing as those of Scout's Honor Craft Cookie Shop deserves an exception.
It has a counter top where you could enjoy your cookies with their milk.
I never imagined cookies would have so many fans. Will we be one too? Let's see...
There were so many to choose from. But, the Matcha Sesame in green stood out for the rest.
The Matcha Sesame is one of the best I've tried! Yet, it was quite pricey for a cooke sandwich.
The Cappucino was just okay.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
I loved Scout's Honor Matcha Sesame. But the thought of having just 1 piece of cookie when I could have a boxful of it lingers in my mnd in contrast of being enticed to buy some more.
