Liao Fan Hawker Chan: World's Cheapest Michelin-Starred Eatery Opens with Singapore Trip Promo (SM MOA)
Happy to be adding my recent Liao Fan Hawker Chan Restaurant dining experience to my Michelin-Starred collection.
We're so lucky that more and more Michelin-starred restaurants are opening here in Manila. Because of that, we get to save a lot from not having to travel. What's more is that, Liao Fan Hawker Chan happens to be the world's cheapest Michelin-Star restaurant where the average price per dish is only 100 to 150 pesos!
I happened to be invited for a preview. As I arrived, the first thing I noticed were these group of men bending down seriously taking photo of what seems to be...
the famous Singapore Soya Sauce Chicken's butt? =p
Food
But, I didn't mind what they were doing because we were served us a Sampler Plate. This is just for the event and not officially on the menu. It allowed us to try three of their offerings and their plain ice which I do not recommend! It is worst than fast food rice.
Go for the noodles, it's way better!
Chef Recommendation
With the Any 3 Combination Platter, you can choose three among their four specialties: Soya Chicken, Char Siew, Pork Ribs and Roasted Pork with Rice.
I'm glad Igot to try the Soya Chicken, Char Siew, and Roasted Pork. But, it made me curious about the Pork Ribs. Nevertheless, I shall share with you my feedback. If I had to choose just one of their specialty, it would definitely be their Soya Chicken. It's so soft and moist that it could easily detach from the bones. It is indeed the best Soya Chicken I've tried yet. Second on my top list is the Roasted Pork. I never imagined pork skin to be as good as they made it. It even beats our local pork skin cracklings. It's light, airy kind crnchy and not oily at oil.
If you're picky with chicken parts, you can order the Whole Chicken so you can even pick the butt part. =D You can also share this with your companions.
Side Dishes
For side dish, I highly recommend Thai Style Tofu.
We had this as a starter dish and we enjoyed it a lot!
Beverages
I'm not sure if our palates are ready for the Roselle Tea. Since I've had this before, it pleasantly tastes like sweet red wine to me. But, my companions didn't like it. Some found it too sweet or preferred soft drinks over it.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Welcome Liao Fan Hawker Chan to the Philippines! I'm sure all the branches you will be opening will be packed with all kinds of diners. I will definitely visit again for the Soya Chicken and to try the Pork Ribs.
Fly to Singapore Promo
I almost forgot to share! Another great reason to try Hawker Chan is because if you dine from July 26 to August 5 2018, you get a chance to be one of two winners that will fly to Singapore and enjoy a 3 days and 2 nights full board and meal stay sponsored by FOODEE Global Concepts Inc. and

The family has dined at Gostoso Piri-Piri numerous times because my mom loves it. Of course, she could not believe that I have tried it yet and insisted that I come on their next visit.
Gostoso Piri Piri Chicken is one of the many hole in the wall establishments in Kapitolyo Pasig.
During meal hours, it is usually packed with diners so you have to wait for your seat and finding a parking slot can be quite a challenge.
The interior is almost bare. On it's unfurnished cement walls are empty jars. There's hardly nothing to notice except for its wooden tables paired with an variations of chairs and...
creative signages.
Food
The Coxinha look like croquettes but are not because there's no potato involved. Instead, it has shredded chicken, bell peppers and cream cheese filling. We love this!
The Half and Half is your choice of half chicken, half pork or 2 skewers of shrimp. We picked half chicken and 2 skewers of shrimp. It comes with 2 sides and 2 olive rice. Both the chicken and shrimp are tender and juicy! I instantly understood why it was my mom's favorite! And, the meal is quite affordable too.
Sides
Since we had 2 free sides from the Half and Half, we ordered an additional one to have three: Creamed Spinach, Mac N' Cheese and Potato Gratin. Since I'm a veggie person, I enjoyed the
Creamed Spinach the most.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Gostoso Piri-Piri Chicken is one of the best (if not the best) place to go for piri-piri chicken. The great thing about it is that it's so affordable you can have it as often as you want.

Mozu Cafe and Bar: Budget-Friendly Meals and Cakes at the Heart of Bonifacio Global City
Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines
With so many expensive restaurants in Bonifacio Global City, it's difficult to find a budget-friendly place to dine in for a casual workday breakfast, lunch, dinner or spontaneous hang out after-work. If you're still searching for such an establishment, I'll share with you my recent discovery: Mozu Cafe and Bar.
Mozu Cafe and Bar is located at the corner of 31st Street and 2nd Avenue in Bonifacio Global City with a non-intimidating signage. The dining space at the first floor is limited. There's a chiller full of cakes.
The second floor offers more seating. Being a bar, they offer affordable alcoholic beverages. This is a great non-crowded place to drink and chill.
House Specialties
Since I was craving for laing. I had the Lechon Laing. This is a crispy-fried pork belly with coconut laing. It also comes with lechon sauce. It is a nice combination of crispy, fatty and tender which is why I enjoy it!
Cakes
Mozu is also popular (by word of mouth) because of their delicious and affordable cakes. The Chocolate Cheesecake is so good!
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
If you're looking for a budget-friendly place for meals and cakes, I present to you Mozu Cafe and Bar. Save space for dessert because their cakes are a must-try!

Bok Bok's Inasal: Budget-Friendly Authentic Illongo Meal for the Family (Kapitolyo Pasig)
Kapitolyo, Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines
The family loves to try out the different hole-in-the-wall diners in Kapitolyo. It's amazing that this former residential village has turned into a foodie haven. And, our exploration within it is so far from being accomplished as there are really so many more to try! A few weeks ago, we discovered Bok Bok's Inasal. It's the only place in Kapitolyo where you can enjoy a budget-friendly authentic Illongo meal that's great for sharing.
Bok Bok's Inasal is one of the underdogs in famous eat street of Kapitolyo probably because of has a very humble sign which you could barely notice if you're like us who goes to Kapitolyo to find a random diner that we'll find enticing. It's located along Maria Clara Street beside Cross Fit Kapitolyo. It has 3 parking slots which is a plus point for us considering how challenging finding a parking slot in Kapitolyo can be.
I love the colors! It's very colorful and quite spacious.
As expected from an inasal place right?
Food
I really appreciated that all the dishes were served hot and freshly cooked.
Combo Meals (Served with Rice, Atchara and BOTTOMLESS Iced Tea)
| Pecho Combo (159 php) |
Isn't this just the biggest Pecho inasal served here in the Metro? For it's this combo meal is a steal especially since it comes with BOTTOMLESS Iced Tea! Not only is the chicken meal plump and succulent, it was very fragrant and flavorful too. Among the inasal variations, have I ever shared that I love the Bacolod version the most?

I'm actually a big fan of chicken liver and gizzard so I had the 1 pc. Atay / 1 pc. Baticolon Combo. I must say, it has lived up to my expectations.
