Breakfast Magazine is just a new bi-monthly food and lifestyle magazine by AKME Publishing Group. I've been following this magazine since its first issue. And, each copy was a wonderful read.
Browsing Through
Breakfast Magazine for adapts a new approach in terms of food magazine. Unlike other magazines, Breakfast Magazine offers recipes only from the experts which includes Chef Sau Del Rosario, Chef Sandralyn Hataway, Chef Junjun De Ocampo and Chef Tatung. I like the way they relay their recipes by telling the readers first of their inspiration. It invites us to understand and feel how passionate they are about the food they create. Plus, the recipes are easy to follow with tips and technique too. Breakfast Magazine also has Bloggers Section where fellow foodie bloggers impart their food knowledge.
You may wonder what's the lifestyle part of the magazine. Well, it shares insights and background of celebrity foodies and people who are influential in the food industry. It gives the readers an idea of who they are and what made them deserve their accomplishments. As someone who sees myself as entering entrepreneurship someday, I am also fascinated with the success stories of those who have successfully penetrated the food industry.
Last but not the least, it features food products and places. As a foodie, I am fond of discovering new places to eat at and Breakfast Magazine gives me a visual and well-written hint.

When Breakfast Magazine invited the Breakfast Club for a day trip at Casa San Pablo, we Tsinoy Foodies got so excited! We woke up early and eager like pre-schoolers on a field trip. We left at Mc Do Vito Cruz at around 7:00 a.m. and arrived at the Casa San Pablo gates at around 9:30 a.m.
As we parked, the first thing that we caught sight on is their Lower Swimming Pool. There were signs all over the place so you know where to go. You can start by heading unto the Front Desk. Since Casa San Pablo is a bed and breakfast, there are a lot of houses and rooms for rent. Each house and room is unique on its own. I don't know about you but we Tsinoy Foodies always check for clean restrooms with a shower heater when looking for a place to stay and they have them. =D
Kulinarya Tour
The Coconut Culinary Tour began with an informative sit down session with An Alcantara as she shared the history of coconut plants.

Cooking
After we were divided into 3 groups and handed our recipe cards, we watched the cooking demo so we know what to do. We were assigned to cook three San Pablo Laguna native dishes: Adobong Manok sa Gata, Kulawo and Pinaltok. (Comment if you want me to post the recipes as well)
Adobong Manok sa Gata
Unlike the traditional Filipino adobo, the Adobong Manok sa Gata does not make use of soy sauce (toyo in Filipino). All groups were able to cook this successfully and enjoyed its delicious flavors.Kulawo
I loved the Kulawo the most among the three dishes. It had a savory and smokey flavor contrasted by the onions.
Pinaltok
The Pinaltok which means to toss in their native language is similar to our Filipino ginataan. All groups were able to make this with ease.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Casa San Pablo offers a great new experience as you immerse on the San Pablo Laguna culture and nature. They place is not only for families and friends but for corporate meetings and team buildings as well. They have a reliable electricity and WiFi. The room is cozy with a rustic feel. The rest rooms are clean and equipped with shower heaters. Check their website for their different packages depending on your preference. I find their pricing to be reasonable. Based on our experience, I'd recommend an overnight package for a holistic experience. We found our day trip to be a bit tiring rather than relaxation.

After our healthy lunch at Sugarleaf (see previous entry), we were invite to Brew-Kus for the Breakfast Magazine's Breakfast Club. We were happily greeted by the Breakfast Magazine crew upon arrival. We also had an advance preview of their second edition. It was a perfect timing too because I finished the first issue already (my mom is now reading the recipes therein=p).

Brew-Kus offers a cozy and serene ambiance. It's the perfect place to chill. The place is mainly divided into three parts. The first part has a coffee shop set-up, the second part is for casual dining and the third part is for fine dinning.

| ♥ Crisp Mushroom Ravioli (180 php) |
The Crisp Mushroom Ravioli is a mix of diced shitake mushrooms and cream cheese enveloped in a between two wanton wrappers and fried until golden brown. I loved it! The crispiness was followed by the pleasing texture of diced mushrooms. It was fun to munch and it was really tasty even without the dip.

Beer Battered Fish and Chips
Chef Shiela demonstrated to us how to make battered fish and chips. The secret it to have a dropping consistency that is not too thick. Upon tasting the product of her recipe, we all agreed that the coating is nicely thin and crisp.
