Just us we were about to head home, we were all bedazzled by the cute cake display of Tous Les Jours at SM Mall of Asia. We just had to go inside and check it out.
Tous Les Jours is a French-Asian inspired bakery that originated in Korea. It currently has over 1,600 stores worldwide. Its branched quickly blossomed here in the Philippines too with six branches. Tous Les Jours means every day in French. This coincides with their slogan "Tous les Jours, serving only freshly baked bread. Fresh Bakery, Fresh Everyday"
As much as we wanted to take one of these cakes home, none of us wanted to buy one. All of us are just hopeful that come Valentines Day, a prince charming will come and give us one of these cakes as a Valentine's day gift. So if you're still thinking of a Valentine gift that will surely win a girl's heart, here's my personal suggestion. =)
So saving our cake craving for a dream yet to come true, we moved on to the pastry section. As we picked up the loaves on the top basket, we noticed that it didn't have any price so we asked the staff. She said "Oh, hindi po yan binebenta. Display lang po yan" (That's not for sale. It's only for display) Then she took a piece and said "Matigas po oh". (Look it's hard)
We all laughed because we've been to some pastry shops that display their pastries that way. We never imagined that Tous Les Jours would be bold enough to use real hardened pastries just for display purposes. Haha! It was quite an embarrassing experience but a funny one too. =D
I think its a great idea that their pastries are all packed and sealed neatly. Cause to be honest, I notice that the usual bread picking system with the tongs in other bread shops are a bit faulty in terms of hygiene and appearance. I've witnessed how people accidentally touch the bread or mess it up by picking it up with the tong, dropping it or returning it when they change their minds before they reach the counter.
I love the Cream Cheese Walnut Bread the most among the pastries I've tried! The rest were pretty good too. The pricing is reasonable and competitive with other pastry chains.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Tous Les Jours offers a pastry shop that will surely continue to draw many customers with its adorable cakes and unique pastry varieties. Unlike other cake shops, they are full of creativity. It's a brilliant idea for them to create themed cakes according to events and occasions. After seeing their lovely Valentine cakes, I look forward to visiting it again not just for its pastries but to see what cake designs they have in store for the rest of the year.

My three little sisters and I all had dreamy eyes while gazing at the lovely Valentine cakes. Any girl would be mesmerized by these cute looking cakes don't you agree?

We, Tsinoy Foodies, can do crazy things sometimes like travelling for an hour and half just to play laser tag at Lazer Xtreme Alabang Town Center (see separate entry). Naturally, we were really hungry after all the shooting and ducking just to survive from being outnumbered by a huge group of determined teenagers.
We were looking for something we can eat on our way home and look what we found just at the center of Ayala Alabang Town Center...NYFD! It is fellow Tsinoy Foodie Kurt's favorite snack.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
French fries are classic snacks that has been here for a very long time. But, the dips that NYFD offers adds a twist to enjoying fries. With their wide selection of dips, I'm sure you'll find a few that will delight your taste buds.

It's just a simple stall but mind you we had to wait awhile before the line cleared up.

♥ Fries Giant (119 php) |
Kurt always orders the Fries Giant because he thinks its a "Bang for the Buck". The grande comes with three choices of dip so you don't need to pay an extra 15 pesos to get more than one dip. But, it was not a lucky night for Kurt because all the dip flavors he wanted were out of stock. He loves the honey mustard and the garlic wasabi.
Kurt's not the type who'd risk trying something new when he finds something he likes. So, I felt that it was a good chance to get to try their other dip selections. He chose the pesto, garlic parmesan and bacon onion tomato and they were pretty good. I preferred the pesto. On the other hand, Kurt liked the bacon onion tomato better. How about you? What's your favorite NYFD dip?

While we were walking along Alabang Town Center, we decided to stop over at Serenitea to quench our thirst after a fun game of lazer tag at Lazer Xtreme. On our way, we noticed people drinking in Serenitea JUMBO cups so I instantly knew that something was going on.
We went over to Serenitea and I was right! It was Serenitea's 3rd year anniversary. Like the previous years, Serenitea offers a FREE upgrade from their Large cup to the JUMBO cup or 1 liter cups.
Glancing up on their menu, they had more selections now. But, I thought that since this is for a JUMBO cup, I better stick to my personal favorite, the Hokkaido with Pearl sinkers. Although my favorite sinker is the green tea jelly, they don't allow that for the Hokkaido. For the Hokkaido, I always prefer 50% sugar.
Looking at how many people are eagerly waiting to claim their orders, we decided to take a 30-minute stroll. We came back just on time too.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Serenitea is consistent with its product quality regardless of the branch. You can never get tired of trying out drinks at Serenitea because each variation offers a different sensation plus they give you the freedom to choose your choice of sugar level and sinkers to enhance the experience.

The Hokkaido with pearl is one of my favorite milk teas. We both enjoyed the JUMBO cup. It was super satisfying! Thank you so much Serenitea for such a fun and generous celebration.
