Waterfront Insular Davao: Japanese-Inspired Potato Dishes (US Potato Safari 3)

Waterfont Insular Davao was our home during our 3 days and 2 nights stay in Davao City.  Aside from the nice beach front and great room service, I also loved the food at Waterfont Insular Davao.

Chef Victor Barangan who was the former Sous Chef of Richmond Hotel Eastwood was the one who engineered the potato-infused menu.   
 
Appetizer

Bacon and US Potato Roll w/  Miso peaches

The Bacon and US Potato Roll w/  Miso peaches is such an eye-candy that I had to stop for a few seconds to appreciate before consuming this.  Upon trying this, I was so impressed!  I don't think I've ever appreciated the fries and bacon combo as much as this.  I literally swiped the plate clean.


Soup

US Potato and corn bisque

 The US Potato and corn bisque is a comforting bowlful.  Why haven't I thought of pairing corn and potato before?  I will certainly give it a try at home.

Hot Crab Salad

The Hot Crab Salad is one of the most amazing salads I have ever had!  Every component contributed to the harmonious balance between spicy and sweet. 


Main Course

Surf and Turf

The Surf and Turf was another hit for me.  The play of textures and flavors is superb.  Bravo!

Green Tea Doriyaki

Before I even got on the plane to Davao, I already placed on my must do list to try Durian Ice Cream in Davao.   I was so happy when I saw the Green Tea Doriyaki with one scoop of Durian Ice Cream and one scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.  For a green tea lover though, I felt that the green tea flavor was too light so it was being overpowered by the ice cream.  I loved the Durian Ice Cream so much that I had more than one serving of this!

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
I really enjoyed the entire meal at Waterfront Insular Davao.  Everything was awesome!  I loved the idea of a Japanese-inspired menu.  It fit both the taste preference of all of us (Davaeño's and Manileño's).
