Smoochies Basil Seed Drink: Is It The Next Health Drink?

During our visit at Best Food Forward 2012 (see previous entry), every one was lining up to try the Smoochies Basil Seed Drink.

According to their banner:
"Smoochies isn't just your run-of mill pearl drinks.  The special basil seed drink is packed with vitamins & minerals and contains natural antioxidants.  Aids in digestion, has an uplifting effect on your mood and thus beneficial for relieving mental fatigue, nervous tension, melancholy, and migraine giving you clarity and muscle strength.  And, because of the swollen seeds and their fiber, the drink may curb hunger that helps weight loss.  Smoochies the perfect antidote for the stresses of modern life."

Banafe (Banana/Coffee) Regular 12 oz. (99 php)
Upon tasting the Banafe, I find the idea of Banana and Coffee interesting because the combo worked well together.  However, the drinks was too sweet for us.  Instead of being quenched, we felt the necessity to search for water.  The basil seeds remind me of the fruit seeds contained in Chinese or Taiwan bottle juices.  I'm personally not a fan.  I find them tiring and stressful to chew endlessly.  How ironic that I find the effects reversed on my case.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Smoochies Basil Seed Drink is marketed as a competitor of the pearl drinks or milk tea in terms of health drinks.  It doesn't look like the basil seed drink will pave way to its winning streak.  They have to incorporate healthiness in the drink itself such as lessening sugar content and perhaps not using artificial flavorings.  What do you think?
