Nodasho: Authentic Japanese Hot Pot in Little Tokyo

When my older brother was working in Makati, he and his workmates got to try the hot pot at Nodasho in Little Tokyo.  He spoke highly of it so the entire family wanted to try it out too.  My interest grew even bigger when I heard that Nodasho is owned by the father of Kitsho's Executive Chef Masahiro Mizumoto (see previous entry).  After a months our eagerness had finally materialized as we all went our way to try it out for ourselves.

From the outside, Nodasho looks like a typical Japanese home with Japanese lanterns.  The place looked serene so we were surprised when we opened its Japanese wooden sliding door that it was packed with Japanese clients.  We were lead to our private room passing by a huge rack of Japanese drinks for sale.

Food

Sashimi
kanpachi
♥ Kanpachi (580 php)
We were very curious upon seeing  Kanpachi  and its expensive price on the menu.  We were told that it is some kind of Japanese yellow tail.  Upon ordering, we decided to eat it only with a spread of wasabi to appreciate its flavor.  I love its buttery and slightly sweet flavor.  The texture is similar to a Hamachi but firmer.

tekka maki
Tekka maki (180 php)
Our server recommended that we order the Tekka maki (spicy tuna) because it was their house specialty.      It was really good.  The kick of spiciness is just right to make the tuna more flavorful.  I love the crunch in it too.

Hot Pot
US beef sukiyaki
♥ US Beef Sukiyaki (1,500 php)
Craving for hot pot or nabe, we ordered the US Beef Sukiyaki.  Our server brought in a large hot pot filled with tofu, vegetables and three types of mushrooms: Enoki mushrooms, Beech Mushrooms and Shitake Mushrooms.  Afterwards, she came with a platter of thinly sliced US Beef and tossed into the boiling hot pot.

♥ US Beef Sukiyaki (1,500 php)
The US Beef Sukiyaki is delicious! The soup had a nice blend of mild sweetness,  the US Beef was tender and rest of the ingredients were at their freshest state.  One order satisfied the hearty appetite of all five of us.

At the end of the meal, they served us sweet pineapple slices.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Nodasho is one of the best places to go for the freshest sashimi, delicious roll sushis and hot pot.  The great food plus the authentic Japanese ambiance will surely give you a pleasing experience.  I definitely want to come back and try more of the dishes at Nodasho!
