C2 Classic Cuisine: Filipino Favorites for the Kulinarya Kalayaan Festival (Robinsons Place)

Thanks to the Kulinarya Kalayaan Festival 2012,  I got to discover great places to dine for our Filipino dishes.  When looking for something more than the traditional, there's C2 Classic Cuisine at Robinson's Midtown.  It is offers Pinoy favorites with a twist.

C2 Classic Cuisine has a simple ambiance similar to our Filipino dinning area.  It has wooden tables and chairs with picture frames to add a little decor.

Food

All-Day Merienda
sotanghon guisado
Sotanghon Guisado (265 php)
The Sotanghon Guisado is rice noodles cooked in soy sauce and chicken stock with bits of chicken, strips of vegetables and scrambled eggs and topped with peanuts, green onions and garlic.  It had a sweet blend to it.

Vegetables
chicharon monggo at crispy paksiw
Chicharon Monggo at Cripsy Paksiw (330 php)
The Chicharon Monggo at Cripsy Paksiw is our classic monggo stew topped with chicharon and served together with fried mackarel fillets and paksiw sauce.  I really enjoyed this.  The stew was not too thick but it was flavorful especially with the chicharon and the mackarel.

Meat & Poultry
tinolang binakol
Tinolang Binakol (295 php)
The Tinolang Binakol is a new twist to our classic tinola.  It is chicken cutlets in ginger-coconut soup served with diced sayote, coconut meat and vermicelli.  I liked the innovative idea with this soup.  I loved munching on the coconut meat.  However as I drank more of this, its sweetness overwhelmed me.

Desserts
bibingka souffle
 Bibingka Souffle (165 php)
The Bibingka Souffle is worthy of its awards.  It is a light and fluffy blend of coconut custard, salted egg, quezo de bola and toasted coconut.  This is a must try!  It's a new twist to the usual bibingka.  The flavor is the same but the texture is an upgrade.  I also loved the presentation.  To eat it, you first have to place a hole in the middle of the souffle and pour the content from the shot glass.

turon ala mode
 Turon ala Mode (165 php)
The Turon ala Mode is banana and ube rolled into crisp and drizzled with langka sauce and butterscotch.  Since its an "ala Mode", it is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  Without or without the ice cream, the turon is outstanding!

Drinks
maja mais con yelo guinumis buko pandan
Maja Mais con Yelo (105 php), Guinumis (95 php) , Buko Pandan Shake (105 php)
The Maja Mais con Yelo and Buko Pandan Shake were both refreshing!  The Guinumis had a sweet and rich panocha taste so it wasn't a recommendable drink.  I felt it was more like a dessert.

pandan iced tea
Pandan Iced Tea Glass (75 php)
The Pandan Iced Tea is a combination of lemon iced tea and light pandan essence.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
C2 Classic Cuisine redefines Filipino dishes like no other.  I was impressed with their desserts while the other dishes were just good enough.  Since we missed out on trying out their best sellers, I'd like to visit this place again next time.
