Foccacia: A Taste of Italy in Makati

Foccacia is the restaurant where I discovered about panizza.  But, it's been a very long time since I've had the pleasure to visit it again after its other branches began closing down one after another.  So, when we were in the area, we chanced to dine in their sole branch at A. Venue Mall to taste its offerings once more.

The area size is quite limited as it holds only a few tables.  It has a glass tiled walls where you can leave a mark of your visit.  Whether it looks cool or messy is up to you to decide.

Food
♥ Complimentary Foccacia
As expected, the meal began with a basket of warm Complimentary Foccacia served with balsamic vinegar.  I can never say no to this!

Pasta + Risotto
♥ Linguini Gorgonzola famiglia (440 php)
The Linguini Gorgonzola is a pasta topped with chicken tenders and sun dried tomato bits in gorgonzola cream sauce.  I love the softness of the chicken and the sweet chewy sun dried tomatoes.  The gorgonzola cream sauce had a great blend too.

♥ Conchiglie con Frutti di Mare famiglia (420 php)
The Conchiglie con Frutti di Mare is seafood pasta in creamy tomato sauce.  I always thought of creamy tomato sauce as a compromise between red sauce and cream sauce.  You get to enjoy the rich tangy tomato sauce together with some creaminess.  I enjoyed this with bits of fish, shrimp and calamari.

Chicken Pancetta (280 php)
The Chicken Pancetta is pancetta slices and cheese wrapped in chicken roasted in olive oil served with farfalle noodles .  I personally found the chicken a bit dry.  But, it was very flavorful especially with the cheese and pancetta slices within it.  The farfalle noodles were light in flavor as if it was a plain staple.  It is also served with bits of zucchini and eggplant.

Eggplant Parmigiana (220 php)
Upon serving, I was shocked with the appearance of the Eggplant Parmigiana.  The eggplant slices looked like it bathed in red tomato sauce mixed with the oil from all the mozzarella and feta cheese.  Although the egg plant slices was cooked just right, the tomato sauce wasn't thick and chunky enough for me.

Pazzo Rollio
Sicily famiglia (445 php)
Of course, we ordered panizza.  Our first option was the Sicily.  It had chicken strips, artichioke hearts, sundried tomato, garlic and cheese sauce.  I love the simplicity and medley of flavors.  However, I noticed that the panizza was too oily so it was a bit soggy as I rolled it.

♥ Primavera famiglia (375 php)
I enjoyed the Primavera famiglia more than the Sicily, because it was lighter.  It's a vegetable lovers choice since its composed of zucchini, fresh tomato, sundried tomato, asparagus slices and cheese sauce.

panizza arugula alfalfa
The panizza is served with a generous amount of arugula and alfalfa.  No need to ask for refills. =D

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Foccacia offers a taste of Italy in the midst of the busy City of Makati.  They offers a wide array of Italian dishes at affordable pricing.  Their serving size is pretty good and they don't scrimp on the ingredients.
