Among the delicious restaurant's to eat at Sagada Mountain Province is Alfred's Cabin. Alfred's Cabin offer a warm and cozy cabin ambiance. In its walls are pictures of Sagada's attractions such as the Cave Connections.
Food
The Buttered Chicken is Alfred's Cabin specialty dish. Their Buttered Chicken has a thick and tasty buttered sauce. The flavor is strong that you have to eat it with rice. The way they cook it is similar to buffalo wings.
Alfred Cabin's Sauted Mix Vegetable brings out the natural freshness, sweetness and crispiness of the mixed vegetables. This is the perfect side dish to complement other dishes.
Other than the fresh vegetables that added extra flavor to the dish, the Pancit Canton tasted ordinary. It was good but nothing to rave about.

Alfred's Cabin served their Vegetable Fried Rice with vegetable bits. Although we are surprised that they do not use Red Rice in this dish, it turned out to be okay.

Hidden in the midst of the commercial buildings of Ortigas District is a hole-in-the-wall diner called "Jacob's Shawarma". Jacob's Shawarma is owned by Jacob Cortes, a Turkish model who was one of the hottest Cosmo Bachelors in 2008. Yes! He is the handsome guy in the Jacob's Shawarma logo and on the menu.
Update December 3, 2019: Jacob's Shawarma has moved to two new locations:
1. Levi Mariano Avenue, Ususan, Taguig City
2.San Joaquin, Pasig City
The place is clean and simple perfect for a casual hang out with workmates and friends on any time of the day. Aside from the cashier's counter, you can view through the kitchen and watch as your food is being prepared.

Food
♥12- Inch Beef and Lamb Shawarma (200 php) |
Beef and Lamb Shawarma |
The shawarma they serve is Turkish shawarma also called doner as differentiated from the Persian shawarma which is more easily available here in the Philippines. This Turkish shawarma has a lemon sauce unlike the Yogurt Sauce and Hot sauce in the Persian shawarma. Despite being 12-inch long, the Beef and Lamb Shawarma's pita is crunchy in every part since they are equally grilled by using an electric griller. A single bite on the Beef and Lamb Shawarma gives you the perfect sensation from its crisp pita, chewy juicy tasty beef and lamb meat to the aromatic taste of the herbs, tomatoes and onions.
Drinks
♥Home-Made Ice Tea Mint (50 php) and Yogurt Drink (50 php) |
The Home-Made Ice Tea Mint is delicious and refreshing. It gives a unique cool taste that lingers in your taste buds. We really loved this drink and will surely order it again on our next visit.
The Yogurt drink was a bit tangy and not too sweet. However, it was too watery so the yogurt taste was very mild. Personally, I prefer a yogurt drink which is richer and thicker.

Last week, we got the chance to chill out at California Berry SM Mezza Residences with our friends Anton, John and Savannah. Upon reaching SM Mezza Residences, the store sign California Berry and see through windows looks so inviting we wanted to go in immediately.
California Berry SM Mezza is the best branch I've ever seen. It is has a clean spacious modern minimalist interiors. It was the perfect hang out place so naturally customers were mostly students from nearby schools. It has cozy chairs and even a sofa. It's been a long time since we've tried California Berry and we're glad that they now offer more varieties.
Food
The Cheesy Lasagna as the name implies is rich in cheesy goodness! The cheese and meat perfectly complementts the pasta. In every bite, you can feel the oozing cheese flavor and the juicy meaty taste. It tasted similar to greenwich's lasagna but it was more cheesy!
Drinks
We're so glad that they now offer Fresh Fruit Blends! We love fruit shakes so we're excited to try some of their offerings.
The BananaRama is a mix of kiwi, banana and mango. As indicated by the name, the dominant flavor in this fruit shake is the banana. It tasted like sweet fresh tropical bananas. It's really delicious and refreshing! As you sip, you could enjoy chewing on the crunchy Kiwi Seeds too. Speaking of Kiwi Seeds, did you know that these kiwi seeds are richer than flax seeds in Omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid?
The Mango Tango is a blend of Mango, Banana and Peach. It came in a slightly more yellowish color than the BananaRama. Although it was rich in ingredients, we felt that the icy drink was a bit bland. It tasted lightly of Mango and a little of peach. We were not able to recognize the banana flavor.
Cold Treats for Dessert
We've tried the California Berry Yogurt before so we want to try their new Ice Ice Baby! They also call these Japanese Ice Cream. Upon seeing their Ice Ice Baby selections, there were so many babies to choose from so it was difficult to decide.
The Original Baby with Blueberry and Kiwi is my kind of treat. I just love the sweet and tangy taste of blueberry and kiwi contrasted by the smooth milky taste of thinly shaved ice. Every spoonful of this cold light treat is sensational.
The Original Baby with Mango is simple but always satisfying. Mango goes well with almost anything. Kurt loved his Mango baby because he loves mangoes.
The great thing about the Ice Ice Baby is that it has a lot of options because each and everyone of us has our own preference and favorites. Next time, we'll try to explore on the wilder alternatives. It's highly recommend for those who don't like the tarty tanginess of frozen yogurt and want to enjoy a cool and light treat. At the price of 65 php, it is very affordable.
Overall, it is an awesome place to chill out for anybody. Now, you can visit California Berry not just for frozen yogurts but for a cool drink, a fulfilling lunch or dinner and for their new Ice Ice Baby!

The Seafood Alfredo is as delicious as it looks. The pasta is filled with natural seafood flavors. It has chunks of shrimps and calamari are sure to satisfy your taste buds. Marriott Hotel Manila is one of the latest hotels established by Marriott International, a U.S. based 5-star hotel chain. Inside Marriott Hotel is its flagship restaurant called "Marriott Cafe".
There is a general impression by most countries that "cafe" based on its French origin pertains to an establishment focused in serving coffee. But in the U.S., cafes and restaurants are the same. Thus, the Marriott Cafe is actually a restaurant with a western cozy ambiance.
Unlike other hotel buffets I've been to, Marriott Cafe knows how to tease the appetite. It has all its colorful and luscious desserts placed by the entrance to invite passerby's to come in and taste those delicious treats. Apart from the Dessert Section, they have the Pastry Section, Cold Cuts and Salad Section, Seafood Section, Western Section, Japanese Section, Chinese Section, Middle Eastern Section, Filipino Section and more! Almost of of their sections are live stations where chefs are on standby ready to cook your food upon request.
Cold Cuts and Salad Section
It is quite rare to find ♥Smoke Salmon being offered as Cold Cuts here in the Philippines so I was so happy to find some there. They also had the widest range of salads I have ever seen! I tried around 4 types of salads.
Aside from the prepared salads, they also offered fresh salad ingredients with the finest dressings like Red Wine, Balsamic Vinegar, White Wine Vinegar and Olive Oil. I have to admit, their Cold Cuts and Salad Section has to be one of the best in the country.
Seafood Section
Japanese Section
Their Japanese Section offered Sashimi, Sushi and Maki. Their ♥Salmon Sashimi is fresh and naturally sweet.
A must in the Japanese Section is the ♥Tempura Shrimp and Tempura Fish. As expected it was always sold out.
Pastry Section
Although I love cheese, I could tell by the lack of cheese varieties that they did not focus much on their pastry section so I proceeded with the rest of the dishes.
Western Section
Marriott International, being an American hotel chain, takes pride in their Western Section. They should! Their U.S. rib eye steak is a winner! The U.S. rib eye steak was so succulent, I'd eat more if only I wasn't stuffed already. They offered to options for the sauce: Pepper Corn Gravy and Mushroom Gravy. There were also three types of potato side dishes available.
Chinese Section
For their Chinese Section, they offered Cold Cuts, Dimsum and Hot Pot (Shabu-Shabu). For Cold Cuts, they had Asado, White Chicken, Soy Chicken, Pork Cold Cut and Roast Duck. I loved the Roast Duck!
Middle Eastern Section
For their Middle Eastern Section, they offered Shawarma, Samosa, Skewers and Kebabs.
Chef's Specialties
Dessert Section
Among the cake selections, I recommend the ♥Opera Cake and the ♥Tiramisu. The Marble Cheesecake and the one in the tall glass is also pretty good.
They also have Fresh Fruits for those who prefer it the healthy way. They have several sauces to accompany your healthy selections.
I tried their Chocolate Fondue by dipping some slices of kiwi fruit. It was okay. I was more intrigued with their Gelato selections. In addtion to their unique flavors, they also have three special flavors for the day. I tried the ♥Cheese and Langka and the Lemon Sorbet. Both were delicious! Their Gelato is perfectly light and not too sweet.

The Sagada Mountain Province is well-known as a place for outdoor adventure. It also has a lot of food establishments that serve good food. One of the most recommended dinning places in Sagada is the "Yoghurt House". Don't let the name fool you. They serve a wide variety of dishes aside from Yoghurt.
The Yoghurt House is a cozy house with two floors. The second floor has a terrace where you can enjoy the cool breeze as go people watching you enjoy your drinks. Because of the Western influence in Sagada, most establishments like the Yoghurt House, have a westernized ambiance. Visiting the place during the holy week, the place was crowded and busy. In fact, it was so full it had to let a few potential customers go.
At first, the servers were still able to approach us and they took our orders. When people came rushing in, the staffs couldn't go out and attend to our needs anymore. The orders took so long to arrive so most of us took our time to shop for souvenirs. Our meals came one by one. We had to go to the counter and follow up some of our dishes and for additional orders.
Main Dishes
The Chicken in Basil Pasta came covered in grated cheddar cheese. The basil added aroma and flavor to the pasta and enhanced the chicken flavor. The fresh chunks of tomatoes gave it a sweet and tangy taste which made the dish balanced and not overwhelmed by the basil alone.
All of their main dishes are delicious! Their vegetables are so fresh and tasty. Their local rice is the healthy red rice so its a bit special.
The Mountain Tea contains Sagada mountain leaves. We did not find out what exact plant leaves they were but they say it can only be found in Sagada. It had a minty and herbal taste.
