Hoho Chickenchop: Crunchy Goodness in Every Bite

I've had Chickenchop for meals before at Shi Lin and Yen Yen.  But, many say that the real way to enjoy one is to eat it street-style like the Taiwanese do.  That's how it is sold in the country of its origin, Taiwan

So together with friends, I've transversed into Masangkay to try the affordable offerings of Hoho Chickenchop.  It's a shabby shack near St. Stephen's High School and almost beside Jollibee

Since it's near chinese schools, they are frequented by students.  Their menu is visual and simple.  Basically, all their products have have the same flavors.  If you're adventurous, you can try mixing and matching the flavors for no additional charge.

The products are served in a paper bag so it's handy and easy to eat.

hoho chickenchop special
Hoho Special Chickenchop (90 php)
The Hoho Special Chickenchop comes with deep fried fresh basil.  It made is so fragrant.  But, the basil was not so evident in terms of taste.  The batter is perfectly crunchy and the chicken meat was thin and tender.  It's not as juicy but it's not too dry either.

Lemon Plum Chickenchop (90 php)
The Lemon Plum Chickenchop is my favorite!  I don't know if its because I'm accustomed to eating champoy (dried plum candy) since I was a kid but I really liked it.  If you want to have the chickenchop for sharing, you can have them slice it and so you and your friend can eat it with a stick.   We were able to try more flavors this way.  My companions liked the Barbecue Chickenchop and Lemon Pepper Chickenchop too.

hoho corndogs
Crispy Corndogs (35 php)
Kids will definitely enjoy the Crispy Corndogs.  An order comes with three pieces.  These are not only cute but fun to munch too.

hoho fried squid
Plum Fried Squid (55 php)
The Plum Fried Squid is another great option!  The fried squid itself is marinated so its really tasty.  I actually like the crunchy and chewy blend of this snack.  Perhaps, I'd even prefer this over the the chickenchop.

chickcharon
Cheese Chickcharon (30 php)
The Chickcharon is probably the cheapest item on the menu.  It's chicken skin coated in their special batter.  We had the Cheese Chickcharon which felt like an alternative to popcorn as a light snack.  This honestly didn't leave as much impact to me as the other ones.  The batter overpowered the chicken skin making its existence almost negligible.

red tea
Raspberry Iced Tea (Add 15 php)
Not only are their snacks affordable, but they also offer the Raspberry Iced Tea just for an addition of 15 php.
